Great movie for it's day, and great action scenes. It is a bit dated when you watch it almost 20 years later. Some very classic moments, and the environmental overtones are muted and presented as opinion of one of the lead actors (instead being hammered into your head like so many of today's movies). A fun ride.

Ive only owned this movie on vhs and Ive seen it once on hd tv. so when i saw both the bluray and uhd, i was blown away. It was like watching it for the first time again. I noticed much more details inside the alien ship this time around which can by dark and murky on previous formats

This is a great movie and it has a great picture and it also has great sound and is a great movie to add to your will smith movie collection

Takes me back to those wonderful summers in a 90s when anticipation to see movies was at an all time high for myself. This one delivered on that. What a great use of cgi technology in its infancy.

Simply one of the absolute best Sci-Fi movies ever produced. It has been a tradition to watch it every 4th of July and nobody has gotten tired of it yet.

So I've been recollecting some of my favorite older movie as they've been being re released in 4k. Of the hand full of 4ks I've picked up lately I can honestly tell you that if your a fan of the original Independent day, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

I have been a great fan of this movie ever since it first came out. But I really enjoyed the extra minutes that the director decided to put back into the film a few years ago ... then only available on DVD. I'm so glad that they now have released that "extended" version on Blu-ray.

It seems a little odd to call a movie less than 25 years old nostalgic, but here we are. I think this movie was carried by Will Smith's performance and the eccentric Russell Case (Randy Quaid) is pretty hilarious too.

There's nothing like watching an old favorite with the kids. Lots of memories of going to the drive-in in Alex Bay in the summers growing up. Watching this on my new 75" Samsung UHD TV is awesome. Fun movie. Not terrible for the 12 and 3 year old boy and girl.

20 Years ago the previews for this summer blockbuster appeared as a Super Bowl commercial showing the White House getting blown up. And that lit the fuse for huge anticipation of and interest for the release of this film and it did not disappoint! Great story and cast with what was at the time some of the most stunning visual effects ever seen in a movie. Watch this one before you see the new ID:Resurgence movie!

WOW! The visual clarity in the 4K version of this classic is incredible! Most of my 4K collection are older classics that have been remastered, and this is definitely one of the best!

This original movie of the Independence Series was the best of the two. It introduces the aliens who are bent on taking over the earth, stripping it of all resources and then moving on. It did shows the people of earth can band together to fight a foe, and survive.

Well the new mvoie was coming out and the kids have never seen it, so I said lets watch and guess what I didn't have it. So i ran down to Bestbuy and they had this edition. It is great package with a lot of extras and I also got $7.50 off the new movie. A win win for everyone!

What can you say about the movie, it's great. I purchased it as our 1st 4K movie to compare against the original dvd on our new Sharp 55" 4k tv and Lg 4k ultraplayer. No disappointment what a picture and sound. Definitely need more popcorn. Greg

This movie is a classic for a reason, and the fact that it is available in a blu-ray steelbook is fantastic. The special features are very good, and the movie is every bit as good as I remember.

Fun older movie at a cheap price point. Can never go too wrong with Will Smith and aliens.

Clearly a July 4th classic, but the 4K transfer shows the early state of affairs with CGI. The green-screen shots show a hard outline of live versus the background material. The models used in the explosions don't have enough material to hide how the explosions take place. It provides an even more cheesy quality to the movie, which might be more fun, but is visually less satisfying. The Bonus disc provides every kind of background for the making of the movie, and both the theatrical and extended releases are included. Ultimately, the Blu-ray HD version might be the more visually appealing as much of the detail revealed in UHD is still hidden.

The film looks and sounds great in 4K. I also like to watch the Special Edition, I think the some additional scenes help the film as compared to the Theatrical Cut.

I have to say it, Independence Day is one of my favorite action movies. I pull it out every Fourth of July to give it a watch. Will Smith is great and the supporting cast is wonderful too - especially Jeff Goldblum as the comedic foil. Definitely something any movie lover wants to own!

The plot for this film is just so uniquely judicious in it's own mortality. If you have seen it already, see it again in HDR. It will not leave you without a few surprises this time!
