20th Century Fox finally released a Blu-ray for one of its biggest hits that matched the old two-disc DVD set that came out previously. The extended cut is back, as well as a plethora of extras that put the original vanilla disc to shame (which isn't really that hard).

I got this for the extended footage. There wasn't a lot. Still, this is, and always has been, one of my favorite movies. Okay, it's very rah-rah, and the plot holes are enormous. I can live with that. It's a lot of fun, even after many watches. Highly recommended!

I was concerned that the quality would not live up to 4K standards because this movie is older, but I was pleasantly surprised. This movie was great when it came out in theaters, and it is great now in 4K. This movie will take you on a roller coaster of emotions.

Love ID4 since the its first release back in 1996. I have three copies now one one VHS, DVD(Five Star Collection) and now the steel-book will now be my last time buying ID4. A really enjoyable movie for anyone who wishes to take the the wild ride.

Even though I had seen this movie many times on TV over the years I wanted to see how it translated to Blu Ray. I was not disappointed as the visual quality is stunning! It works particularly well on my new LG OLED TV. The extra scenes are a nice addition too.

My all time favorite extinction level event movie. I've owned it on VHS, DVD, and now Blu-ray. A couple decades later, and it still holds up very well. I'll recommend it to anyone that will listen. "Ain't I been sayin' it, Miguel? I've been sayin' it."

The original Independence Day has also been my favorite and I love watching now both version of the film on a single disc like I had with the DVD. They did relapse this movie on a two tape version once, but don't care for it as much as I do this BLU-RAY.

This is a movie that I can see on tv and come into it at any point and still enjoy it. The 4k version does justice to the original, and gives a greater deal of depth and contrast to the movie. The HDR is great, and the audio doesn't disappoint.

This 1996 Independence Day movie is the best summer movie of all time. The most recent Independence Day(2016) movie doesn't come close to the 1996 movie. I got bored watching the latest Independence Day movie, so I went to this movie just for the memories.

I first saw Independence Day in the theaters back in the 1990s and the whole family was mesmerized. I watch it every July 3rd, as you may know the movie starts on July 2nd and ends on the 4th. I have a renewed interest to watch it more often.

it was nice to upgrade from dvd to blu ray. for that money we get lots of extra features, with some of dubious image quality but they are after all freebie extras. I liked the discussion of the making of the film, how various things were done. I was also pleased to get to see the trailer for the sequel. I don't like the way the movie keeps trying to phone home before I can watch it.

Hoping Disney re-releases this with a proper 4K encode. The bitrate on the UHD disc ranges from the teens to 30. The compression artifacts on the 4K disc will make you wanna just stick to the standard Blu-ray for now. Only benefit is the DTS mix. The DTS:X can be a bit harsh at times and you might find yourself lowering levels more than your used to. I'll have to double check with my CM-130. Took a star away for the digital copy not being 4K. Redeemed in movies anywhere and it appeared as HD. For future reference or to anyone who bought this before redeeming their digital copy. If the code verifies as HD, then go to foxredeem and select iTunes. Then redeem in iTunes for the 4K port to MA.

Incredible story of survival. As humankind battle with an advanced alien race. Their objective is to wipe us out and take our natural resources. The countries of the world unite in a last pitched battle.

A good old movie. Looks pretty good in 4K but could look better for some reason.

Who can believe it's been 20 years since this movie first came out. Wil and Jeff played off each other well and the effects for the day were pretty good. With the next film coming out soon you should get this and watch it again to prepare for its release.

Independence Day is one of the best alien invasion movies of all time. Over 20 years later, this 90's sci-fi blockbuster still holds up well. In my opinion it's still better than the seque. The blu-ray steelbook is a must own.

Skip the terrible sequel; this standalone sci-fi adventure remains one of the most engaging summer blockbusters ever made. Fox put out a mediocre Blu-ray before, but this new one includes two remastered versions of the film and some great bonus features.

This movie when it came out was terrific and had great effects and was tons of fun. Twenty years later it still holds up especially much better than it's sequel which have should've never been made. Stick with the original it's a much better movie.

Wow, I saw this movie in 1997 on DVD. What a difference 4K makes. The sound effects were excellent. Keep coming with the older movies in 4K

This movie has always been a really good movie with great characters. The 20th anniversary edition has some nice touch ups to the special effects. I'm not sure but I think they added some footage as well. It was worth he money for an HD upgrade.
