With the new movie in theaters I figured it was a good time to buy the first movie and re-watch it before seeing the new movie and I got a coupon towards seeing the new one..what a great bonus.

Anonymous post cards to a friend with an ongoing synopsis of this plot as if it were real life. It’s good to have the reference on deck in case I miss an element or two.

Classic summer blockbuster. The steelbook is simply stunning IMO, such a simple, beautiful design for the cover art, I love it.

I have always loved this movie and when I seen it was on 4k disc I picked it up at Best Buy and I have to say that the HDR added some stunning visuals to the film. Highly recommended.

I have always had a soft spot for this movie so buying it on 4K Blu-ray was an easy choice to make. For those who haven't seen it, it's a really good 90's aliens come for the earth movie

This is one of the basics that needs to be on everyone's shelves. This is the movie that kick started Will Smith's Hollywood career, and it was much deserved based on this movie alone!

I have seen this movie more times than I can count. An excellent performance by Will Smith. Action and Drama throughout. If you haven't seen this one you are missing out. Go see it now.

Even better in Blue-ray...! It was terrific the first time around but even better now in Blue-ray. Special effects look great. Worth watching again and back to back with the new movie...

Now that’s what I call a close encounter! I never owned the fox 5 star DVD and I feel this was worth the 25 year wait

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES, I WAS JUST REPLACING IT .IF WE AS PEOPLE COME TOGETHER ON ONE ACCORD, AND WITH ONE PURPOSE FOR GOOD WE COULD OVERCOME ANYTHING . I HOPE WE DON'T WAIT FOR A DISASTER TO DO IT. THIS MOVIE ALWAYS INSPIRE, AND ENCOURGE ME TO CONTINUE TO TRY TO MAKE A DIFFERANCE IN THE WORLD.

A great action movie to watch. The special effects are great. The actors do a very good job.

Some time back I owned this video in DVD format but could not find it when I wanted to refresh my memory prior to watching Resurgence. I bought the 4K to use the capabilities of my new theater system. The movie was as good as I remembered and fits into the story line of the sequel.

Picked up the 20th Anniversary edition of Independence Day when I got my new 4K TV and 4K Blu-Ray player. Really liked the movie when it first came out and seeing it in 4K is even better.

I wasn't able to watch this movie when it came out till now and it was great. Its always good to see what the 90s were like for films.

got this because it had both versions of the movie and all of the bonus features. great for the price i got it at,but some of the mocumentary footage was too small for me to see on the tv

If you haven't seen this movie you have to watch it. It's a great movie. Not much language, has some violence and what could be considered a scary scene for little kids. I enjoyed watching it!

Just got a very nice 4K TV and was picking up a 4K copy of The Martian when we saw this 20th anniv 4K version of one of our favorite movies. Was not diappointed in its quality.

Good ole classic. I haven’t watched it but it being ID4 in 4K at a very reasonable price wasn’t a no brained.

Excellent cast and inventive writing makes this a terrific movie anytime of the year. This should definitely be added to any viewing library for patriotic movies in addition to as Sci-Fi lists.

How can you not rate a Will Smith movie lower than a 5 star? I don't know but this movie just makes you feel like you have been thrust into a world of alien armageddon. Can't wait to watch again!
