Customers are delighted by the 10-sheet Crosscut Paper Shredder's impressive shredding capacity, ease of use, and performance. Many appreciate its value for the price, although some find the noise level a bit high. A few users experienced issues with overheating, while others noted the size and weight of the unit. Overall, the positive feedback on performance and value outweighs the concerns about minor drawbacks.

I bought this shredder 7 years ago and have shred a lot of documents over the years and I highly recommend as it was a great investment for the home. It is still going strong without any issues, love this item for convenient shredding options in home. The top part is a tad on the heavy side but I attribute that to it being heavy duty and long lasting so no worries for me.

This is a great shredder for small projects around the house. I got it primarily for junk mail that I didn't want to throw in the trash can. It's compact and works like it's suppose to. Very happy with the purchase.

Nice little shredder. Does what it's supposed to. Not really big enough if you have a ton of stuff to shred.

Great Shredder

We purchased this shredder to replace our old one. Our old one had many problems that led to its demise (sloooow when doing multiple sheets, paper wrapped around the motor due to a poor design). So we bought this shredder, saw the good reviews, and hoped this one would be much more sturdy. We took quite a while buying this, so we had about a year's worth of credit card offers stacked in, on, and around a trashcan waiting to be shredded. So we really put this thing to the test and ran all those papers. And it did great! It was absolutely capable of shredding the number of pages it suggested. I liked the ideas in the directions about how it CAN handle staples and sticky things, but to extend its life they suggest you NOT put those through if you can help it. I thought that was good advice to have, whether or not you want to follow it. The only downsides are that it's relatively big (although, that is also an upside because it holds a lot), it's heavy (but I guess that's the price you pay for a good motor!), and it's loud. Overall, I love it. I absolutely would buy this one again and recommend it to others.

I spent hours searching for the best shredder for the best price, and after comparing several websites' products, I arrived at this one. This shredder has sliced and diced through everything I have stuck in it. I shred all my mail, glossy ads, expired credit cards, stapled papers, and even construction paper and card stock! I have only had one or two jams and they were easily fixed with the reverse button. I have NEVER had to take the lid off and fix any jams. I have noticed this is more likely to happen when the basket is full (which for me is only once a week, and I shred a LOT). Just be sure to empty it often, and don't cram a bunch in there all at once, I only shred about 3-4 papers at a time. I have had it now for about 3 months and still love it, and not a single problem! I got it on sale, but even at full price, this is the best one out there in it's price range! Much better than Black and Decker (returned one of those the first day we bought it). Go buy this now, you will thank me!

I am shredding a lot of old documents. I bought another shredder but returned it because of poor performance.
I was cautious in buying this shredder because I wanted to make sure i got a good product. I bought this based on the number of good reviews and good price......I kept my fingers crossed.
I am very pleased with this item. It shreds a lot of documents at once. The small pieces it shreds papers into allow for a lot to be shredded before emptying the bin. It does make some noise, but it is not excessively loud (all shredders will make SOME noise).
My only complaint is the weight of the shredder. It is a very heavy duty item, and has some weight to it, which is understandable. I have MS and it is not easy for me to lift the shredder off of the bin. This could be an issue for some people. But if the weight (UPS said it was 17 pounds) is not an issue, this is the shredder for you.

Great Product for the Price

I got this for my dad during the holiday's because he has been wanting one for a while now. I purchased based on the more than ample amount of reviews which gave this product a 4.3/5.0.
For the price of $62.05 there was nothing that compared and I shopped around in many places. So far we have used it at least 10 times and it seems to work very well. Shreds many different types paper with ease and does not seem to malfunction in any way. It's rated for 13 though most I have put through at one time is 5. I ran through multiple CD's in a row and you though you could hear the motor struggling it did indeed shred them.
To date this is an extremely well valued product and is perfect for intermediate home use.
My biggest and likely only complaint would be that the shredding attachment does not clip to the waste basket itself. So when you go to move it you can't just grab the top or it will separate.

This thing worked very well for about a year of some regular sorta catchup shredding. I used it carefully, letting it cool every so often, and tried not to put too much in at a time. Well, it finally wore out when I may have overloaded it a little. My husband said it was worn out. It worked out well, and I got at least my moneys worth. So when I looked for a new one, I bought another one just like it, I'm getting my shredding caught up, and expect the new one to last two years or more. It is better than other shredders I have had.

picked it up at my local BestBuy. Went home, unboxed it, took it out of it's wrappings, straightened the cords, placed the shredder top over the bin, plugged it in, turned the switch to AUTO, the green light went on, i started shovin in papers envelopes cards...for an hour or so I was shredding, stopping every once in a while coz were watching the Superbowl... but the longest break i had was probably 30mins. after im done, i've filled a medium sized garbage bag(its pretty much stuffed... i compacted it). wasn't that hard. didn't even bother to look at the instruction manual.
This thing is tough, it performs and didn't missed a beat. never jammed. I like the sound it makes... it not music to anyone's ears but the sound will tell you that it is tough.
one note though, I bought it yesterday morning and only used it for a couple of hours. so far its been great. I already saw the bad reviews but since the good ones are overwhelming, the odds that i'll be getting a lemon is very small. tough luck to those of you who had unfortunate experiences with this thing... but i am one of close to a hundred raters who are satisfied.
if you're thinking of buying this one... the odds are favoring you.

Small Shredder That Handles A Big Job
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Within reason and common sense, the Init™ 10-sheet Crosscut Paper Shredder will take everything that you throw at it. Once it's done its job, papers, credit cards, etc. are reduced to something resembling mulch. This makes the device a reasonably high security product.
There are a few downsides, but they do little to detract from the value of the product. I have not been able to empty the bin without little shreds of paper falling from the cutting head to the floor. That makes the emptying process rather messy. This isn't a large storage unit, so if a large amount of shredding is being done (think old bills,) it has to be emptied frequently. Finally there is an on off switch that seems a bit redundant given that the shredder automatically turns on and off.
Still, the shredder does an excellent job and I am quite happy with it.

Bought for a big file-scanning project

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
After scanning important (but old) paper files into data, the shredder got them. I used it for almost eight hours solid, and it chewed through everything I gave it without jamming or even getting warm (only a few staples went through but it handled them just fine). The bin had to be emptied roughly once every hour. I was initially afraid it would be top-heavy, but the unit balances quite well on the bin and can't be easily bumped and tipped over as long as it's on a level surface. When in operation, it's about as loud as a hand-held dustbuster vacuum. It handled a test stack of ten sheets just fine, but it slows down and gets A LOT louder the more paper is fed into it. Limit it to about 6 or 7 sheets per pass to keep the noise down. Overall an excellent product for the price.

We purchased this about two months ago to replace another which had a burned out motor. Our son's family was moving as are we. We used this first to help our daughter-in-law shred all documents she had gathered in the past 5 years or so. Then we started on our documents which had been gathering for the past 3 years. Both tasks completed with ease and the shredder still sounds and performs like new. What more could you ask at this price? Probably will now last us for years to come.

It shreds several sheets of paper at a time; credit cards and CDs one at a time; very easy to operate; red light comes on if you lift top to empty without unplugging cord. . .good reminder. My last shredder lasted 5 years---by the way it operates, it seems as though this one will last at least that long.

Very powerful motor and ability to cross-cut shred more sheets than other shredders in this price range. Also handles credit cards, CDs, etc. with ease. Great built-in recessed handle to make removing shred mechanism easy when it needs to be taken off to empty the can (why doesn't every shredder have this great feature?!). Some shredders quit shredding before the waste can is full, but this model keeps going until it is nearly packed.

INIT Crosscut Paper Shredder

This is an awesome crosscut paper shredder, especially for the price. It shreds up to 10 pages at a time and also shreds CD's, Credit Cards, staples and paper clips. It is a veritable workhorse. I 've had mine for almost 2 years and shred everything that has my name and/or address on it (or any other identifying information). When I cleaned out my file cabinet and old billing statements, etc, I had this shredder going for hours, and it was comparable to the Energizer Bunny. I would recommend it to anyone, and actually bought the one I'm reviewing for my sister as a Christmas present since I liked mine so much. If you're in the market for a crosscut shredder, this is the one!

I regularly have a great deal to shred (proprietary documents for business as well as personal material). Tired of my old shredder that would overheat after 10 minutes of use, I was DELIGHTED when I was able to shred a foot-high backlog of material without stopping and without this overheating once! Works even better than I expected!

Got this for my wifes office. Shreds the paper in very thin strips, which is great. I have not used it to shred credit cards. Not excessivly noisy and doesn't take up a lot of room.

I've only had this shredder for one week, however, I have used it everyday since I bought it and the 10+ years of old bank statements, etc are a thing of the past.... I can't believe I'm getting rid of so much, so fast and so easy. I do find that I have to unplug it and clear the blades every so often, but I'd expect to do that with any shredder... especially with all the papers I'm feeding it. I read the reviews for all the shredders available at Best Buy and I am really glad I bought this one... the price is great, in fact after using it as much as I have, I would have paid more. I bought this online and picked it up at the store on the same day... what a great experience, I was in and out of the store in less than 5 minutes!

Ferocious Shredder

Love this shredder! After looking for quite some time on line to find a decent shredder that could hold up to moderate usage and didn't cost more to ship than it did to buy, I took a chance on this one. I have not tried a CD/DVD but it ate up old insurance cards and credit cards without hesitation. I shredded 10 pieces of standard weight paper with no problem. When shredding documents on a heavier bond paper it didn't shred as fast but it also didn't jam. I shredded about four years worth of bank statements and other monthly records in no time without any jams (two tall kitchen bags worth). The only drawback was the size of the bin, since I was shredding so much I had to empty it several times. Under normal usage the bin size will not be an issue. Can't beat the price either (got it on sale). I dare say you won't find a better shredder under $60 anywhere! This was definitely a BEST BUY!!!!!!
