Inside Out is a terrific movie

Inside Out is a terrific movie with all of the plot points you have come to expect from a Pixar film. It’s funny at times, it’s sad at times but always heartfelt. The concept itself is not original. A 90’s sitcom called “Herman’s Head” was based on the same premise BUT that was a 30 minute TV show, THIS is a full length feature film and Pixar truly expanded on the “Herman’s Head” idea. They used as many analogies as they could logically fit into this movie (I personally like the Train of Thought) and made them make sense to kids as well as adults. The BluRay is filled with special features that give you more insight to what was going through the creators minds while the film was in production and why Joy and Sadness became the stand-out characters. Ultimately, I feel they made the right choice.

Excellent Pixar movie! Keep It Up!

Pixar didn't just push the envelope; it tore it apart! They studied psychology and personified human emotions. The mind has been reconstructed into creative things such as the Train of Thought, Dream Productions, Abstract Thought, Subconscious, Long-Term Memory, and Headquarters. The film is great at pulling some heart strings, especially when Riley breaks down at the end. The plot is simple; after Sadness and Joy get unintentionally sucked out of Headquarters, they must find their way back. Finally, the animation is well done. Its colors really engage the audience enough to enjoy the story.

No spoilers but this was a great depiction of a teenager's life. The characters depicting the girl's emotions and moods were perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed the choice of the actor voices chosen. This is a great family movie.

My child loves this movie, it keeps him entertained for hours which gives us time to perform our chores. It's a great movie and we have been recommending it to our relatives and friends to get it for their children. It's also a movie that adults can enjoy as well while watching it with their children, good family quality time. Overall it's a movie for all.

A wonderful movie that looks even better in 4K

Quirky, fun, but still touching, Inside Out takes an idea that has been done before (remember Herman's Head? Anyone? Probably not) but absolutely makes it their own. The character designs are especially striking for the emotions; luminous and almost ethereal. A style that would be taken even further in Soul. The previous blu-ray looked great, and the 4K release is even better. Gorgeous video quality. Sound is also improved, but it won;t blow you away like some other more action-oriented movies. Like most Disney/Marvel/Pixar 4K releases, you'll likely need to turn the volume up a bit. For whatever reason, the sound is typically authored at a quieter baseline. You could just watch this on Disney+ (we love the streamer here), but the picture quality will be better on disc. Disney+ quality is great, but it can't beat the quality of a 4K disc. If you like extras, you'll find many, many more of them on the included blu-ray disc than on Disney+. This set also comes with a digital code so you'll still have the convenience of being able to watch digitally when you want.

A Wave of Emotions in the Mind's Eye

When i had first seen the trailer I was intrigued. Not sure as to what to expect...I found out that This movie was better than My First Impression of It. I found this movie to be rather Creative and whimsically funny. I had appreciated the show of emotional representations of individuals embodied within their own mind explaining their own thought process in decision making as their internal and external worlds affect and clash with each other explaining how personal struggles are not only external, but internal. I also like how Each person within the film is guided by their own somewhat different set of emotions represented by characters within their own mind collecting and sorting memories and thoughts...while showing some of their own internal creativity through the worlds created in their own mind from their collective life experiences. Each Emotion is necessary to help guide through some choices as what is Displayed from within the film.

Movie looks great in 4k and still holds up to this day as one of PIXAR's best. A personal favorite. Great for the family though as an adult, you think the movie could potentially go into some dark territory, but it doesn't, so no worries!

WOW. At one point, this film felt so truthful and achingly arresting that I wanted to reach out and become one with the screen. Being in a darkened theatre wasn't enough, I wanted to live within the realm of tenderness and majesty that Inside Out radiated. Pixar has just stolen my heart and opened a door to another world in a way that showcases the limitless possibilities of cinema. Pete Docter's Inside Out is a masterpiece. Visually scrumptious, wonderfully conceptual, brilliantly crafted, and heartbreakingly emotional; Pixar's latest film is their finest outing and a masterclass in supremely detailed storytelling. With a story beginning from the minds of Pete Docter and Ronaldo Del Carmen (who is also co-director), Inside Out consists of a journey that is both intimately grounded and structurally massive. Following the story of five emotions inside the mind of a 11-year-old girl named Riley, Inside Out is a breathtaking tale of memory and nostalgia, focusing on the five emotions and Riley in an interweaving structure that bursts with inventive magic and fascinating visuals. In spite of each emotion sporting a particular feeling (Sadness, Fear, Disgust, Anger, Joy) throughout the film, each of them are beautifully multi-layered and tragically honest. Pixar lets every character flourish in natural and surprising ways, committing to the insanity of the entire project that allows for an incredible consistency in regards to character. Simply put, every individual in this is as memorable and indelible as can be. The animation is magnificent. If I could go up and shake the hand of every Pixar animator, sketch artist, and designer, I would. The world of Inside Out is splendid and beyond colorful, moving through fantastical locations that gush with iconic images and sensational concepts. Every second of film brought another surprise, another joke, another revelation; It all comes together in a fluid and spellbinding fashion. Every voice actor in this perfectly compliments the immaculate animation on screen. Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, and Mindy Kaling are all spectacular, each of them embodying their respective emotion with vibrant hilarity and subtle poignancy. Hell, even Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan are in this, bringing terrifically tender performances as Riley's (Kaitlyn Dias) parents. It's an all-star cast through and through, showcasing tremendous talent within each and every line. The screenplay by Pete Docter, Josh Cooley, and Meg LeFauve is tremendous, highlighting and expanding on the strengths of the Pixar name when it comes to the writing. The humor is as sharp as ever, the big ideas within never overwhelm, the feels will hit you as hard as Pixar can manage, the story is paced perfectly, the back-and-forth is ingeniously detailed; the writing in Inside Out is utterly Oscar-Worthy. As someone who is interested in the ideas of psychology, I couldn't tell you how happy I was when I heard "REM sleep" mentioned. Plus, can we all please reflect on the pure mastery of Michael Giacchino? His score for Inside Out is arguably his best yet, with only his tear-jerking work on Up coming close. It oozes warmth and compassion, even within such moments of chilly pain and humane devastation. The combination of his score and the images on screen gave me chills on multiple occasions, and tears were shed. I was borderline weeping at points. Bring lots of tissues folks. And yet, even with all these impeccable qualities, nothing feels short-shifted or left unrefined. Inside Out will make you laugh, cry, and think. It will also make you ponder everything within your memories and the ember that glows within them. Pixar is back, and while I've said this before, this time it's the truth; Inside Out is the film of the year. And not even just that; I'm considering placing it in my top-ten of all time. Everyone, please see this film as soon as you possibly can.
