    Sometimes you need an serial connection to make those older peripherals work. Once connected, most function basically. Insignia comes through again.

    I was looking for an adaptor to connect my pc to a projector; my pc had only USB and HDMI and the projector had a PDA connection. This cable solved the problem.

    This works great for connecting my scanner and is a hard part to find. Beware to not confuse this product with being a VGA connector. It looks similar but is the RS-232.

    Installing the correct drivers for this seemed to take a minute in the beginning. However it worked flawless after it completed the driver install.

    My technical work implementing embedded firmware for smart UPS devices targeted for military applications required debug of a dual control board system with requirements for multiple RS232 connections for debug (up to six channels). These USB-to-RS232 worked perfectly out of the package and are part of my regular tool-set to do what I do.

    This product allowed us to use older serial fax-modems on modern Windows servers. Well worth the small price. The product did not work as well with older warehouse automation.

    The cable works good but this is not plug & play, I need to download the correct drivers from third vendor, check the proper IC inside of the adaptor and after that the cable works well. You also can buy another in the web per half price and come with drivers.

    not too many remember what Serial Port (or COM 1) is, but if you have relic equipment with this interface and need to connect to newer one, this one gets the job done
