I needed this adapter to configure equipment at my work. It worked great. No issues at all. The cable can be purchased on line for a fraction of the price but I could not wait for shipping. Having to pay the higher price is why I gave 4 stars other then that it is 5 stars.

Product works with Win8. Win8 made all of my old adapters obsolete. This one plugs and plays without all the hassle of installing drivers.

I purchased this to connect to the console port of a firewall. It worked fine for my purposes, but since I purchased an open box version the pins were slightly bent when I received it so I had to nudge them straight before I could use it. I would have given 4 stars regardless just because these are a a dime a dozen and there isn’t anything that particularly stands out about this one to warrant a 5 star review.

I still use some older data logging devices with the multi-pin cable. But it's difficult to find/keep a laptop that has the "other end". I am using legacy software on a newer laptop and needed to bridge the device cable to my "ultrabook" laptop (only USB). Thankfully, this cable did the job and I can continue to use the data loggers/software (which do exactly what I need done and I don't need newer "upgraded" units).

I purchased this and it worked with my windows 8.1 laptop without any more effort than to plug it in. My previous one i purchased from best buy worked but i had to reinstall the drivers everytine i wanted to use it unless i shuty laptop down then pulled it out and plugged it in the same usb port and turned back on. I have used this with several console connections to many devices has yet to fail. My previous one did finally fail i am thinking from a windows update.

Doesn’t require a separate serial cable like some other adapters, so as long as youre okay with it being relatively short, it works perfectly. I have it connected to an old analog switch device that uses rs232 for control and it didn’t have any issues.

Needed a serial to USB converter to download survey dat from an old Sokkia data collector. Works perfectly.

We have a Legacy Paxar printer connected with an RS232 null modem cable. When we upgraded the PC, we need a USB adapter. As soon as I plugged it in, it worked great. Right out of the box it assigned a Com port and I configured the communications settings and it started printing right away

Bought this USB to RS-232 adapter to update software on a model train control system. It worked well but could be 2 feet longer.

The insignia USB to Serial connection worked really well as long as you know how to change the port in Device manager to match what peripheral and software requires you to use. Very simple in nature without bulky software needs. just what i needed for my it work

I bought this adapter because I had a piece of gear that was finicky about which adapter it would work with. The other reviews gave me hope that it would work, and it worked perfectly. I tried it on a Toshiba laptop running Windows 8.1 and a desktop running Windows 7. It worked with both without a problem.
