Customers are impressed with the 1.6 Cu. Ft. Top Load Portable Washer's cleaning performance, compact size, and ease of use. Many appreciate the efficient spin cycle, which leaves clothes relatively dry, and the quiet operation during washes. While some found the small wheels less helpful than expected for maneuverability, the overall value and price point are frequently praised.

The wheels are too small for this to actually move around an apartment easily; even tilting the machine back, it still leaves black skid marks all over the floor because the feet aren't cleared high enough for the wheels to take the full movement.
The outflow drainage hose is cheaply made and punctures easily. I purchased this open box and the hose has numerous holes, and I have a very wet kitchen from the test cycle.
There's no internal water heater, so if you have a kitchen faucet with only one tap (= most kitchen faucets), you can only run a cold wash cycle.
It doesn't say this anywhere in the specifications or description. You have to transport this upright or it voids the warranty, because the drum will be out of alignment. So even if you have a station wagon, you'll have to use home delivery.
Be aware that if you purchase something "open box", the full additional warranty doesn't apply, and if parts are missing (parts were missing) or it doesn't work (it doesn't work), you'll have to keep going back to the store for assistance, because no one on the phone customer service line will be able to help.

LITERAL LIFE SAVER, especially during the pandemic. We live in an apartment complex, without a washing machine hook-up and are so incredible lucky to have this during the pandemic. Haven't had any issues since purchasing it, and it is one heck of a workhorse. If you're on the fence, this washer is incredible. Hooks up to standard outlet. Bravo Insignia!

I've had my washer for less than two years. I have never written a review on a product before, let alone a negative one, but I am disappointed.
I loved this machine, but it stopped working. An error code (E1) keeps popping up, preventing my clothing from going into the rinse cycle.
I have read the user manual in full and talked with both customer service at Best Buy and Insignia. Their suggestions were to ensure the door is shut, the water was on, and try to turn the machine on and off, none of which worked. Neither company demonstrated technical knowledge of the machine, each suggesting to reach out to the other, which was frustrating.
Because I am just outside of warranty, I would have to pay $99 minimum to have a technician check on my machine, nearly 1/3 of the original cost. It just doesn't seem right that it would break before two years. I am happy to follow a guide and do it myself, but neither company has provided helpful resources. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know!

I live in a apartment with no washer hook ups so this is exactly what I was looking for. Setup is extremely easy, and a load doesn't take very long. Keep in mind this is smaller than normal washers. I usually fit 4 or 5 days worth of clothes in one load.

Bought this for my daughter. She was very thrilled about it and when she used it for the 1st time was over thrilled. Her only problem was washer needs to stand a couple of inches higher for any rugs. A friend suggested to her to go to Home Depot, etc. to get a flat dolly to put it on it

After 7 years, my LG Tromm front loading washer broke down, and much like my marriage, it was unfixable. Since our party of 3 was now a party of 2 (just me and my 8 year old daughter), I decided to conserve both on money and washing load space....
I spent about 3 weeks visiting local appliance stores and scouring the internet for what my options were, reading reviews, comparing specifications, and educating myself on the current state of washing machines.
I knew I only wanted to spend $500 or so and get something somewhat portable if and when needed. After much deliberation I settled on this Insignia 1.6 cu. ft. washer mostly because of reviews, features, and cost. And I will touch upon all of these things.
So let the review begin!
UNPACKING: The washer was boxed and transported very well! Best Buy did a great job delivering and placing the washer in my basement, and the packaging was sturdy and flawless.
Once open, I had it placed and fitted in less than 10 minutes. All necessary attachments, for both hot and cold water as well as drainage, were included and very simple to set up.
It had convenient carrying handles on the sides of the machine making moving or carrying very easy for me. In less that 15 minutes I was running my test cycle to check for leaks.
BUILD QUALITY: I was impressed, no... blown away with the build quality of this machine. It has a premium build and design! Rock solid, and oozing with style. Sure you could tuck it away in a closet, but it will certainly not be an eye sore if left in the kitchen or elsewhere in eye sight.
So many I looked at in person or investigated on line just looked or felt cheap, almost disposable. Not this unit! If it had a Samsung or LG tag on it you would not bat an eye and gladly pay the premium!
USAGE: Here is where form meets function. The controls are sleek yet robust! Many different settings for your specific need(s). It also is sleek and has a premium look and feel to it, very intuitive to use as well.
I was a bit concerned about the 1.6cu. ft. basin but that was a unwarranted fear I quickly overcame. My first load conservatively consisted of a xl hoodie, 2 pairs of pants, 4 tee shirts and a handful of sox and underwear. It handled this without problem. All I can say is that it handles effortlessly much more then I could have imagined by internet pictures and reviews alone.
It cleans clothing really well, like better then my LG Tromm! And the spin cycle practically dries the laundry so I only need to dry for half the time I use to with the LG! Over all, its a solid and capable washing machine that cleans very well, all the while making little noise or vibration.
OTHER: Initially, what set this machine apart from the rest was the hot and cold water intakes, as well as the reviews. No other machine in its category had such a robust feature set at an affordable cost.
The premium build quality and functionality was just an incredible surprise to me! I can tell you now after researching in depth or viewing in person, no other portable washing machine even comes close to what you get here.
If you are on the fence, don't hesitate. If a portable washing machine is what you are after, or even a smaller fixed washing machine (as I use mine for), look no further.
Feature rich, premium build quality, intuitive as well as stylish controls, and stunningly clean clothes in a sleek package all for $300? Yes please...

Living in an apt alone and I don't like sharing washer or dryer with other tenant in the building. I decided to find a portable washer. Most standard washers I found are below 1 Cu and it is just not big enough. I first went on Amazon, while there are washer the same size load as this insignia but they are just ridiculously over price. For 1.34 Cu on amazon is about $319.
Then I stumbled on this Insignia at bestbuy website and it was 299 before tax and it is 1.6 cu. It is a steal. Although I am very questionable about insignia as they are not a electric brand I would go for but I guess this is what bestbuy have to offer at the moment.
-----SIZE:
IT IS 1.6 Cu. i honestly don't know what that number mean. However, I have a 16 gallons laundry bag from IKEA and this washer fit around 8 gallons of clothes or more. To me that is good enough. I would say if you are living alone like me and wear moderate amount of clothes during the week then this is just fine for you.
-----PERFORMANCE:
It cleans my clothes well and have multiple functions to fit what every your uses are. When this washer rinse and spin your clothes to dry it will definitely spin till your clothes is super dry. This came from someone who used an expensive full load size front door LG washer. Even this washer is able to spin my clothes dryer than my previous full size washer when I used to live with my family. with that being said, I don't really need a portable dryer and just air dry my clothes overnight with ease. The only things that I am try to figure it out right now is how to make my clothes soft after wash. Since it spin so good your clothes will be super dry that it felt hard after completely air dry. I don't want to use fabric softener as it is famous for clog and make most washer dirty after use.
-----Ease of use:
This thing is not rocket science to figure it out how to use. I find it very easy to install. All you have to do is follow the instruction and plug where it suppose to be and press play. Just make sure that the tube for water coming in is tight. If it doesn't fit your sink, you can always buy an adapter at hardware store. The water coming out tube need to be at the sink at all time. You don't need to be by the washer all the time if follow the instruction.
-----TIPS:
Although this washer comes with two wheels on the bottom back, it can be only useful if you live in a wood floor or any kind of flat floors. I live in an apt that came with high rise carpet so it was harder to move around. My tip is to either build or buy an adjustable dolly washer mover. This can be found on amazon for around 30 bucks or less (if there is a deal or discount). I find this solution to work best for my carpet floor and easy to push.
