I've now had this freezer up and running for about two weeks. I can't speak to the effect on my energy use, but I don't expect a huge problem there. It's a good unit, and doing very well at holding temperature. It's sitting in my living room, so I'm a bit more aware of it's operation than I might be if it were in a garage or basement, but it's not obtrusive in any real sense. I'm just neurotic enough to be aware of flow noises that I don't immediately identify, and so become aware of it's operation more than I might otherwise. My concern, at the moment, is that I'm getting a little more frost formation around the seal edge than I'd hoped to see. It's likely in response to local humidity levels, and not a problem with the unit - but will be a pain to deal with. At the same time, it's a known design issue with any chest freezer, so I can't fault the unit. Over all, I'm well satisfied with it. It's allowing me to spread out my frozen food in a much more useable format - and I can do more meal prep, more easily than with just my above the fridge freezer. As I get things more rationalized I'll be able to use it as a deep freeze, and try to open it up maybe once a week, or so, which will aid with the frost issue I mention, and further improve efficiency. I do wish that the installed electrical cord for the unit were about three feet longer - my house was built in 1915, and hasn't had the wiring update post 1960 era. Getting power to the unit where I could place it where it wasn't blocking a heating vent was an additional pain. With a more modern building - and more frequent electrical outlets along the walls - this may not be an issue many customers have to worry about. Or in an unfinished section of a building, such as a garage or basement, having an electrician run a proper outlet would be a trivial exercise.

Works great so far. The 10cu is nice step up from the 7cu which we were debating. Really glad we went with the larger size (family of 4). Doesn’t sound like much, but it’s almost 40% larger and makes a big difference. Also something to consider is the insulation/walls are the same on both models so the extra space is all storage and doesn’t really make the unit that much larger on the outside. It only has one basket, but was able to order 2 more by calling support who directed me to their parts vendor. I was worried from previous complaints that it would be hard to get extra baskets, but it was super easy. A little frost does collect around the inside lip but sounds like that’s common with all models in this range.

excellent freezer, everything you need in a chest freezer. Has plenty of space and very compact. Definitely recommend purchasing this over more expensive brands.

Great freezer. It is a lot roomier than expected and cools efficiently and quickly. Our older one gave out and when we saw this one we jumped on it since the price was perfect for the size. We Plugged it in and it cooled and started freezing our popsicles within and hour of plugging it in. I anticipated it taking a while since it is in the garage and the heat was steaming that day but it didn't take as long as i though. So far it has been holding up great.

You read that right. I was dumb. I didn't strap it down. I thought ... meh ... it would be ok. Well, it wasn't. As I was driving along I-75 with two of these brand new babies on the back of my F-150, a little green Subaru sped up and approached my driver side window. The passenger held up a paper that said "LOST BOX" then another that said "167", indicating mile marker 167....as in nearly 5 miles behind me. I got off the next exit, strapped down the remaining freezer, then headed back south on the Interstate, and saw the freezer, still in its box, sitting on side of the highway, right at mile marker 167.8. I sped up to the next exit and got back to I-75 South and continued my journey until my freezer was located. The box was banged up, and I could tell the freezer was damaged. I thought about just cutting my losses and leaving it there ...I mean, what was the chance it was still work???? However, I saw 2 police car a few miles back and I didn't want a ticket for littering, so I parked my truck on the median strip, got my 7 month pregnant butt out, and dragged the freezer to the back of my truck, promptly flashing my underwear to half of Northern Kentucky (I was, of course, wearing a skirt) as I single handedly pushed the freezer onto my truck bed. I strapped it down with the truck strap, and continued my journey home. I got home about 30 minutes later, to my husband who was laughing his behind off and shaking his head in disbelief. He helped unload the freezer and admired the damages. We didn't think it would work, but we plugged it in anyway. To our surprise .... the freezer roared to life, quietly I might add. We put in our freezer thermometer, and within half an hour it cooled to the perfect temperature. I let it run overnight and checked it the next morning ... still perfect at -16.8 degree. It's been a few weeks now ... that baby is still going strong. I checked the freezer tempt every so often out of paranoid, but she continues to chuck along with no sign of stopping. Aside from cosmetic damages, it was as if the incident never happened. In short, I am never buying any other brand freezer (and potentially any other brand major appliances) ever again. 100% highly recommended.

Insignia Chest Freezer works great! I have two smaller sizes by Insignia, and wanted a bigger freezer. I've had it for a month and works great. I wish the bigger freezer had a light inside, like the smaller ones do. If I open it, I have a hard time reopening it within 3 minutes, because the compressor kicks on, and creates a vacuum inside. But it's working, so I am not complaining. I would not spend the extra money on a big brand name.

So i purchased this chest freezer after discovering that I was out growing my kegerator for home brewing. I figured it would be a great project to do with the old man... A few pieces of wood, some hardware, and some time well spent with my retired father resulted in a beautiful converted Keezer! This will hold six 5 gallon corny kegs and two 2.5 gallon corny kegs on the shelf/compressor hump. Yes it does have room. Comes with one wire basket that I removed for more space. This is a solid chest freezer for storing food too. The freezer has depth to store the items that don't fit in your normal freezer. A bit of a reach to get to the bottom but that just me as I had added a wooden collar around the top and re-mounted the lid. An Ink Bird temp control device was added to override the temperature and prevent it from freezing my beer. Thumbs up on this product! Cheers!

It is spacious and does the job well. It fits perfectly in the corner of the garage, where it is out of the way yet still convenient.

This is the perfect size chest freezer! I've owned it for about a month now and it's worked flawlessly. It's very quiet and holds temperature well. My only complaint is that it took two attempts to get a unit that wasn't damaged. I did purchase an extended warranty from geek squad just for peace of mind.

The new freezer works real well and holds it’s temperature. Runs whisper quiet. Is a good size. Delivery was done on time and very carefully not to dent or scratch anything. Great guys.

I purchased this chest freezer and picked it up at the store. Upon removing it from the box, the back corner where the cord connects was badly dented. I took off the panels that were damaged to check everything behind them and it all seemed to be okay. It’s working, but I’m nervous of it malfunctioning due to the damage caused from mishandling.

Purchased to replace my old one (Magic Chef) that was about 30 years old. It was a good bit deeper but the width across this one was the same size. I wanted it to fit exactly like the old one. This fit perfectly and I can reach things in the bottom. Would give it 5 stars if it had a light in the lid. So far it’s working great. Cold and runs quietly,

2nd day of ownership review. So far so good, waited 2 hrs before plugging in then 2 more hrs before storing any food. Food was initially slow to freeze but on second day we added more meat and they were frozen within 2 hrs. 10.2 cubic ft is larger than expected. Easily capable of storing about 2 months of food for a family of 4. Potentially longer if only used to store meats. I honestly cannot see a reason for any larger in a residence unless you hunt game and have 200+ lbs of meat to store. This freezer is practically silent. I thought it was broken, it’s that quiet. 2 cons so far, 1 the door on this thing whips open, we’re still getting used to that. 2nd is it only comes with 1 basket and apparently they are not for purchase individually which is unfortunate because other manufacturers have their baskets readily available. Otherwise, this is perfect for us.

Great price beautiful freezer extremely roomy very cold and works great

It offers an incredible amount of space, easily accommodating everything I need to store, from bulk groceries to homemade meals. The design is sleek and modern, fitting perfectly in our garage without taking up too much space. It's also very quiet, and I barely notice it running. Setup was quick and easy, and the build quality feels durable and solid.

Great little freezer that Works as described. Was able to fit most of a full cow of ground beef.

We had purchased a quarter of beef and one week before delivery our old freezer died. We purchased the Insignia 10.2 Cu. Ft. freezer and it works great. Plenty of space for a quarter of beef, it takes up less than half of the total space. It is very quiet and doesn’t take much space in our utility room.

we purchased this freezer to replace an older one we had, this is such a large capacity for our home, we love the capacity. We love the price and we love the quality. This brand is very dependable and very good quality. I would highly recommend this, if you were looking for something new or to replace something old.

Purchased after doing research on different freezers. Ended up picking this one and have no regrets. Perfect size for us, quiet, and insulation maintains temp even when power is out.
