I bought this shredder based on price comparisons to other brands with similar characteristics. The unit is compact and attractive looking. It has an open view panel to see how full it is. It handles the grinding of CD's in a separate slot, which is fine. It is also very quiet compared to my prior shredder. Very pleased with the resulting finely shredded paper size.

Came in the box packaged well, easy to install rollers so it can be moved easily, and works well. It accepts several sheets at a time, and shreds them to bits. Does what I'd hoped. Cleaning out some old boxes of files over the summer and had it running for about 20 minutes at a time. Did the job without overheating.

I am a well schooled shredder aficionado or as my mother calls it a "thrasher". She is 93 so she can call it what she wants. Comparing shredders is like comparing mattresses. They all make great claims but when you put them to the test many times they fail. This unit so far has one very important to me redeeming value. When it gets overloaded with paper and quits, I can revive it rather quickly using a simple series of pulses working the forward and reverse switch. Many of my former shredders required a huge dousing of shredder oil and an overnight rest to soften the paper enough to get the blades working again. This one does a very good job of making the shredded paper pieces so small and therefore impossible to reassemble by shredder paper thieves. Bottom line is that I have jammed the large commercial shredder in my office at work many times. It takes shredder finesse and technique to be able to dump a large amount of paper in the shortest time. I give this one a 4 star rating considering price, performance and ease of emptying.

After my previous shredder died unexpectedly for no apparent reason and, it was too expensive (it would've cost $85 just for the repair place to look at it) to have it checked, I checked the Best Buy website for a good new shredder that they had in the stores (I didn't want to wait for it to arrive at the store or where I live). This was the one I chose based on price and its capabilities. The shredder does a great job of shredding documents (in my case credit card statements) to where it would be impossible to glean any information from the pieces. I do question if it can really handle 10 sheets of paper at one time. The slot you feed the paper in isn't very wide though this has a plus in that it would be virtually impossible to put a finger accidentally into the slot (mine certainly won't fit through it). I like the added feature that you can shred CDs and DVDs though I haven't used this feature yet. Also, the casters they put on the shredder make it easy to move around. The shred bin isn't the largest I've seen but, you can shred a number of documents before you have to empty it. The shred bin has 2 small wheels on one side of it which will roll making it possible to roll the bin to where you would empty it though it would be probably just as well to carry the thing to whatever dumpster or trash can you're using. It shouldn't be that heavy when it's filled up. Overall, I've been very pleased with this shredder. I've used it a number of times now and, it has worked great every time. It definitely does what I want it to do i.e. destroy documents sufficiently so that you can't glean any information from them.

It was on sale so that's a win right there, works great, and I can pull out the basket easy dumping also has a window, so you know when its full. Color is a matted black(not shiney) and it doesn't take up a lot of room. also works really good. I've had it about 6 months, no jamming up. yes I recommend it.

Because I have been working at home since Covid I needed a better shredder than the current one. I have sensitive documents that need to be shredded daily. This insignia brand fits the bill. This doesn't just shred but it slices and dices into tiny pieces for better security of destroyed documents. Now it says it can shred DVDs and CDs but I have never personally used for that reason. I have shredded paper with staples as well as old credit cards with no problem. It shreds quickly. Yes if you're doing a lot of documents it will overheat but every shredded I've ever had will overheat if you use it continually for long periods. I live this one.

This shredder can handle up to 10 pages at a time. It is not too loud and it is easy to empty the basket. The micro cut is the way to go if you want security. No piecing the scraps back on this baby. And it cuts up credit cards and hotel keycards effortlessly.

My 2nd Insignia™ - 10-Sheet Microcut Shredder - Black, & I;m still loving it! The first one lasted 10 yrs & the only reason it gave out was a CD I inserted was of the older ones manufactured, & was just too heavy/thick/wider to be shredded. It jammed, stopped & stuck almost immediately, which shut down the shredder completely, & there was no way to remove it, nor any way it was going to complete the shredding process. So I just bought a new one. Other than that I think I could have gotten a bit more use out of the old one. It was starting to sound a bid tired, but it was still doing the job after close to 10 yrs! I never over stuffed it with 10 sheets as it tells you is possible.....I treated it sensibly shredding 1 or maybe 2 sheets at a time, & It did successfully shred credit cards & CDs, as I was unable to do with other brands of shredders. So at the end of the day it definitely lived up to its promises in every aspect. I highly recommend!!

This shredder is fast, durable and easy to use. It works very well with all of our documents. We really like the quality and performance of this product . The wheels are extremely convenient when moving this shredder from one room to another.

I have shredded several hundred papers and have not had any problems. I remove all staples before feeding papers to avoid stressing cutters. Quiteter than other machines I have used. The one problem I had was trying to purchase the lubricant recommended to keep the cutters working well. BEST BUY does not carry the oil or pre- soaked sheets required for maintanence. However I was able to find it at Walmart for Fellowes machines (compatible to all shredders).

Needed to replace an aging cross cut shredder. The Insignia shredder is a great item. Large bin ti hold the micro-cut paper. Great capacity for both what is being shredded and the 'shreds'. Not too noisy. Easy to use control with indicator lights. Great buy.

I really like the really small pieces that the shredder makes with this. It is a good size as well and the wheels are nice. The storage part to collect the shredded pieces is also a really good size. Love this shredder

This a good shredder for the price. I purchases it on the deal of the day. I have been looking for one that was larger than a table top ones that I have seen at this prices. So far I have had no problem with it jamming, even when I put in thicker envelopes from solicitors.

This shredder provided nice small cuts and is relatively quiet. It is on wheels which makes it easy to pull out when you need it and put away when you don't. The bin with paper shreds is even on wheels, as well, which makes disposal easy, too.

I bought this to replace my now dead shredder and this one works so much better and shreds paper in much smaller pieces. The old one was hard to fit paper into the slot but this one is much easier. It is also very quiet compared to the older one. This one is a bit higher priced but is worth it due to capacity alone.

Reasonably quiet and works well. It has a convenient slide out container to throw away your shredded material and shreds or I should say micro cuts paper effectively.

We needed a good shredder that was capable of shredding years worth of personal and business documents. So far, this shredder has held up quite nicely. Though it claims a 10 sheet capacity, it will sometimes overload with as little as 6 or 7 pages, so I usually limit myself to 6. It has shredded multiple credit cards without issue. I had a few occasions where it did not do the microcut for a portion of documents, but overall it does exactly what it says it does. We've used it hard for the last 2-3 months, and I definitely recommended the shredder lubricating sheets, but I'm very happy with my purchase, and would recommend to others looking to buy.

This shredder is perfect. A great size and the trash can slides out for easy disposal of shredded paper. It’s also on wheels, it glides out underneath my desk and is pushed back out of the way when not in use. Heavy duty. Great purchase.

I have bought 2 of these now. One for home and the other for our biz. Works great. Is much quieter than my old one and I like how the drawer pulls out to empty. And the price is great also

I’ve had this shredder for nearly 5 months and am very happy with it. It shreds items in very small pieces and is easy to use. It shreds 1-2 pieces of regular paper without issues, and while I’ve never had any issues with 3-5 pieces, I can hear a strain on the shredding mechanism when 3-5 sheets are fed at one time. The most number of sheets I’ve fed is 5. The bin holds quite bit because of the very small pieces after shredding. I would definitely recommend for household use or light business use.
