Elderly mother was in accident in round about intersection with my vehicle and it was the other person at fault and they lied to insurance companies about the whole situation even after they told police they caused the accident originally but thanks to this dash camera it didnt matter what the other party said it was all in the recording so no back and forth needed! Saved us time and a lot of money! This was truthly the best buy ever! Great picture quality and very simple to use especially for this price.

What you see is what you get. The USB cable is the perfect length for tucking it away under your trim for better cable management. The glass mount was very easy to install and the camera can be removed easily if you want to remove the SD card or hide it away in your glovebox. The screen, though not really necessary makes it easier to orient the camera, and it has a red dot when recording. It also makes it easier to do certain things such as formatting the SD card through the built-in settings menu.

This is my first dash camera and overall I am quite pleased with it. I really hope that I never need to use the videos that this camera takes, as that would mean something bad has most likely happened. If unpleasantness does occur, this camera should be a useful asset. If nothing bad ever happens, maybe it will capture some interesting happenstance, like those that I always seem to come upon when I don’t have a camera handy. This camera is quite small, and fits quite easily up behind my vehicle’s rear view mirror. As it is wired and not battery operated, I had to do a little bit of work to run the wire down to the power port. The wire is very long which was good considering how far I needed to go to keep the wire out of sight. The instructions recommended tucking the wire up/behind interior finish panels, but I found that the round wire was a little too thick for this. Rather than tucking, I used some small 3m clips used for cable management, and that worked fine. I like that the camera is wired and not battery operated for a few reasons. First, it starts right up as soon as I turn on the vehicle. Second, I never have to worry about keeping it charged or replace batteries, so I know that it will always be available should I need it. It even can with its own plug to put into the car power outlet, which was a nice surprise in this day and age when that kind of thing seems to have gone away more often than not. I mounted the camera with the suction cup directly on the windshield, and the mount is impressively tight. The small integral screen is quite clear and useful for adjusting settings and making sure that the camera is pointed just how you want it. I like that there is an option to turn of the screen after a minute of run time, as it doesn’t need to be on and I can see it being a distraction. When checking the playback I found the video quite good. It’s not as sharp as something I might shoot with my phone’s camera, but it is easy to make out details like license plates out to about 3 car lengths ahead. The white balance constantly adjusts for changing lighting conditions, though sometimes this leads to some bad color, it clears up well if the light stays consistent. The field of view covers the entire expanse of my vehicle’s windshield, so that should be fine for most needs. It should be noted that this camera only shoots forward. The integral microphone has excellent pickup within the vehicle and normal conversations were not only audible, but extremely clear and crisp. Unfortunately while reviewing the clips I discovered it also recorded me singing along with the stereo quite awfully, quite often. The camera has no integral storage, but a micro-SD port allows you to put in a relatively inexpensive card that can be removed for review without dismounting the camera. The video is stored in compact clips rather than recording a given drive from beginning to end. I found this makes searching and exporting/sharing clips easier than dealing with a longer continuous video. I set the camera to record whenever the vehicle was on, and to over-write the earlier clips as the card fills up. This works fine for me. The camera can record “emergency clips” when its internal G-force sensor detects an impact/sudden stop, but I didn’t test this capability. Frankly, considering how many days of travel I was able to store on a measly 32 gb memory card, I can’t imagine I would ever need this option. I think that for the price of this unit, it will do anything you would need, assuming that you didn't have the requirement to record behind the vehicle as well.

    A Good Budget Dashcam

The Insignia 1080p dash camera is cheap and simple. The dash cam has everything you need from a dash cam. The dash cam is small too, so it won’t take up any space on your windshield. After being able to test this for a couple of days, I can attest that this dash cam has been reliable and easy to use. *TLDR at the bottom ============ IN THE BOX/SETUP: In the box, you get the 1080p dash camera, a 12ft USB power cable vehicle power adapter, suction cup mounting bracket, an adhesive mounting attachment, a quick setup guide, and a user guide. Set up doesn’t take too long. There is no SD card included so you will need to have one before installation. Just make sure the SD card can support constant overwriting before purchasing if needed. Once you have the SD card, simply insert it into the dash cam and install the dash camera onto your vehicle. There will then be a couple of setup steps that need to be completed. Once this is finished, the dash cam is ready to go. ============ USAGE: There are four buttons that are simple to use. The first button is for emergency recording. This button locks the video and prevents it from being overwritten. The next two buttons are used for navigation. The final button is used for selection. The tiny screen isn’t the best quality. I recommend taking the SD card out of the dash cam and view the footage or photo on a personal computer. There is no need to turn on the dash cam every time you get into your vehicle, it should turn on by itself and automatically start recording. Recordings can be as short as 1 minute or as long as 5 minutes. Video resolution can be between 1080p at 30fps or 720p at 30fps. While the camera does take good quality video, I found that there is little stabilization. On bumpy roads, the quality of the video was diminished, and I found it hard to decipher items like license plates. I did also find that license plates aren’t too clear when driving at high speeds like on a highway even when slowing down the video. Besides that, quality is solid for the most part, and one should not struggle too much when deciphering items while viewing footage. ============ FEATURES: Some notable features that this camera has is the following: -View recorded clips and photos right with the dash cam -Photos can be taken with the press of a button -Driver fatigue alert lets you know when you have been driving too long and you should take a break -Headlight reminder reminds you to turn on your headlights when the camera detects a low-light setting -Park mode puts your camera into low power and has the G-Sensor on standby (can only be used with a car ignition/battery connection cable, not included) ============ CONCLUSION/TLDR: Overall, this Insignia dash camera is a solid option for someone who is looking for a dash cam on the cheaper side. The device was reliable and easy to use for these past couple of days which is all I need with a dash camera. 1080p with 30fps is sufficient and I found the image quality to be great. I didn’t run into many problems besides that there is little video stabilization which diminishes image quality on bumpy roads. If you are in the market for a cheap and reliable dash camera, I do recommend you try this one out!

Got this as a replacement for my wife's other one that died and didn't want to spend a lot on it either. Overall it does the job, nothing fancy, no wifi or bluetooth connectivity. It records in 1080P and does capture audio from within the vehicle as well. The size is rather small and mounts to the windshield fairly easy. I had it out the box, mounted and ready to roll in about 10 minutes total. The only issue I had or my only real gripe was that the USB power cable was about 2 feet too short to reach where the cigarette plug was in her mini-van. We haver a Honda Odyssey and I routed the power up between the windshield then down between the panel as the instructions state. The last dashcam I had in her van came with an extremely long USB power cable. Other than having to get a USB extension for it we are happy with it over all. Video quality is good from what I have reviewed on my PC and so far from what I can tell it will do the trick if she ever gets into an accident. Some key features: -Two most common video resolutions can be set, either 1080p or 720p -Clip duration can be set to 1, 3 or 5 minutes long depending on what you want -Customizable G-sensor to detect an impact and start emergency recording if hit or in an accident -Camera button to take a picture if needed -Emergency recording button that you can press to start recording in an emergency Overall for the price it does everything you would need or expect it to do. If you don't need the wifi or bluetooth connectivity to your phone and just need a decent quality dashcam this should do the trick.

I've been hunting for a good dash cam for a while, I had my eye on Garmin but just wasn't liking the price tag. Loop recording and a quality built camera were my only two needs. Saw this on the site and decided to go get it, it was so new that it wasn't even on the shelf yet. Out of the box it is a very nice camera, solid high quality build and it does loop record. Holds up to a 256GB SD card, which is a nice amount of storage. Two mounting options, and easy to mount where you want it. Video quality is great in both daylight AND low light, which is hard to get. 1080p quality, and the ability to playback footage if you need. Highly recommend!

Simple and Easy to Use Windshield Camera

This is truly a simple dash camera, which is a nice change from the more complicated ones that require wireless set up, passwords and an app. After purchasing a MicroSD card, all that is required to make it work is to attach the cords and plug it into the vehicle's 12V accessory port. It’s a small camera, measuring 2.5 x 2.5 inches. The small size makes it difficult to see and manipulate the power and menu buttons when the camera is mounted on the windshield. I found it best to hold it to make any changes. The camera has a 1.75 x 1 inch screen that shows what is being recorded. It's tiny, but large enough to see if the camera is positioned correctly. I liked that better than having to use an app to see what the camera was seeing. It is extreme-temperature resistant and can function at temperatures between -4 and 140 degrees F. The camera can use a MicroSD memory card with 8 - 256GB of memory. The card does need to be a class 10 or better and should be industrial/high endurance to support continuous overwriting. A 256GB microSD card can be as expensive as the camera. I’ve found that I know right away if I need to save the pictures from being overwritten and I don’t need to look back at video from several months ago. A smaller capacity, less expensive, microSD card suits my needs. It does get more use than a larger capacity card but I’ve used the same one for several years now without a card failure. The formatted MicroSD card is partitioned into 40% for emergency recordings which aren’t automatically overwritten and 60% for continuous loop recordings. The microSD card can be removed and the files downloaded to a computer using a microSD card adaptor. The camera has a lot of the same features as the more expensive and complicated dash cameras. Video resolution can be set at 1080p or 720p Clip duration can be set to 1, 3 or 5 minutes Optional driver fatigue alert to remind the driver to take a break at 1, 2 or 4 hours Optional reminder to turn on headlights in low light Customizable G-sensor to detect an impact and start emergency recording Optional microphone Camera button to take a picture Emergency recording button to start an emergency recording Attaching all the cables and getting the camera ready for action is a snap. But installing it is a different matter. The instructions say to feed the cable along the top of the windshield, then they show the cable going down the door jam, across the glove box, and into the accessory port. That’s not going to be acceptable. For one thing, I haven’t been able to get the cable to stay in place around the windshield or tucked around the dash. Also, my husband feels strongly that anything attached to the windshield is a hazard because it can obstruct his view and be a distraction. I think a better method is to attach the camera to the dash with an adhesive. After all, it is a Dash Camera. If it’s on the dash, I’ll just have to feed the cable alongside the radio controls and into the 12 V accessory port. If I’m able to do that, the camera will be mobile and I can transfer it to another vehicle. In addition the screen will be at eye level, making it easier to see what is being recorded and the buttons will be easier to access. The included adhesive adaptor would be perfect for that if it could be attached to either the bottom or the top side of the camera. As is, if I attach the adaptor and mount the camera to the dash, the picture is right side up, but the icons and menu options are upside down. I may end up doing that anyway and just remove the camera from the adaptor if I need to read any writing on the screen.

Pros: captures good quality (1080p) video on a budget, the suction cup holds on very well and a 32GB microSD after a month is still not full, I pop this in my window on every trip I make and a few times I’ve been lucky to have it due to terrible drivers moving down to Florida, it’s captured a few instances where I almost got into an accident being cutoff on the road

Very nice and easy to use Dash Cam. Nice price and for a basic dash cam, it works great. I wanted to try one out and see how they work before I decide to invest in a more advanced one. This one is simple to use and is able to move from vehicle to vehicle, which is one of the reasons why I bought it. Very easy to detach from window and use in another vehicle if so desired.

The dash cam is small and compact and very easy to assemble and begin using. It records in 1080p @ 30fps or 720 @ 30fps. Both have great clear quality through the 2” screen. The screen does seem a bit small but, it’s great, functional and it’s size is perfect for it to not be a distraction or noticeable whilst driving. I haven’t hidden the cord as yet, but it’s a great length with room to spare in my mid sized sedan. It fits into any usb in your car. I like that the unit turns on the moment I open the car door and begins recording immediately. You can set the loop recording time to 1, 3 or 5 mins. I pray to never be in an accident but this device states that it will auto record emergency files when in a collision. The buttons are easily accessible. In a situation where I have to record something important, I can manually tap the emergency record button. The setup screens are easy to navigate and simple to setup. The screen isn’t a touch screen but the small buttons are easy to push on the go. The one issue I found is that it’s hard to get the sd card in and out. Even while holding the unit in hand it’s difficult to push to pop out the card unless you use a fingernail, etc. I kept finding myself pressing the reset button over and over or the power button while just trying to remove the sd card. It’s such a simple small device, with good visual clarity and easy to use. Simply plug it in, set it up in seconds and you’ll be recording in less than 10 mins. I don’t have to fuss with it at all after that. I say this is a great dash camera and so far would recommend.

This dashcam is easy o install and fairly easy to operate and provides adequate video evidence, should it be required. The process to install is as easy as sticking to the windshield and turning it on. It took more tim to format the mico SD card which went according o the instructions. The most time-consuming and greatest effort goes into running the cord behind the trim in the automobile to the 12V power source (cigarette lighter). The cord that is provided was plenty long for my compact SUV. The camera is always recording thanks to a feature that loops over previously-recorded video on the micro SD card. The camera does provide a means for locking videos you define as important so the camera does not record over those. The night vision and Wide Dynamic Range allow for adequate video during bright days and during nighttime. The specs claim a field of view of 136 degrees which is actually within the definition of "tunnel vision," so probably wide enough to capture everything in front of you but not to capture peripheral activity such as a T-bone crash on your side. The camera also has a G-shock sensor that automatically records and locks video resulting from a sudden shock such as a crash. I did not test this feature. It is important to keep the instruction manual handy as the buttons have multiple functions, depending on which menu you are in. It is not always intuitive but the manual is well-written. The 2" screen may be too small for some people. I would not use it to review video and would instead remove he SD card and play it back on a computer monitor. For me, I like the compact size because I can actually travel with this dashcam and use it in rental cars. Choosing a dashcam boils down to use case. If I were looking for something to permanently install in my car, I would probably choose a model with a larger screen for better readability and touch area, If I worked in my vehicle, I would want a rear-facing camera which this model does not have. And if I really needed detailed information such as license plate number, I would opt for a model with 4K resolution over this models 2K resolution. Finally, connecting via WiFi would be a nice feature. Overall, this is "good enough" for me because before I had nothing and now I have something at a very reasonable cost. In case of an emergency, I trust it will work as it is supposed to and I will be glad to have video, should I need it.

Definitely worth the price. Pair with a 256GB card, and you have about 15 hours of drive time recorded. The interface to set time, format the card, etc is easy to use. Buttons at the bottom of the camera can be tapped to record an emergency event, mute it so no audio is recorded (I never use audio so I can’t speak to sound quality). It has a G-shock sensor that will immediately save video if the unit senses a hard stop and so forth. It mounts pretty well with a sticky suction cup device, and the ball joint that attaches the camera to the cup can be adjusted as needed to get the camera field set to where you want it. As for resolution of the video, it will NOT be enough to capture a license plate if the other car is in motion. You can certainly tell the make & model of the other cars, but the only time I can make out license plates is when I’m at a stop light behind someone, or the other car is going almost my same speed. I highly recommend getting a dash cam for your own protection, and this is a good one for the price.

This little camera is just what I needed. Not too many bells and whistles, but it gets the job done at a great price. Video quality is very good! Can't really make out license plates unless you get REALLY close but most cameras on the market don't pick that up easily either. I feel better driving knowing that anything that happens to me I will have evidence for! Stood up to super hot Texas heat, only had it fall off once (on a not very hot day!) Was easy to reattach to windshield. Routing the cable is a lot easier than I thought it would be, plenty of tutorials online. You do need to buy an SD card for it, it does not come with built in storage.
