The low profile plug makes it easy to place in tight areas such as behind furniture. This cable can really help with flexible fixture / device placement when there aren't a lot of receptacles available.

I use it when I set up multiple appliances for a buffet. The cord is nicer looking than a plain cord with its sort of fabric covering. The flatter plug is good for plugging in behind something.
