Coldest beer on the block! Best freezer I ever bough!

Good for the garage. Nice space and can change to freezer if needed.

Plenty of space and nice organization. I really like the digital thermometer on the front. Caught it on sale was a great price for a third of a cow and then some.

I tried two of these units within two week in order to receive a unit that was 'working' as desired. This unit is made by Midea. I have the same unit (Midea branded) and use it as a freezer - No issues with the freezer setting. The instructions specifically state the Freezer will swing 10 (F) degrees when in use as a freezer. However there is no information on how this will swing when used in the refrigerator setting. In the refrigerator setting at 35 F the first unit did not seem cold after one day of running - I placed a temperature logger in the unit, and behold, the unit was only functioning between 41/38, and was allowing long periods where the temperature would creep up. This unit was sent back. Setting the unit to 35 should yield a min temperature of 35. (See Graph from unit number 1 - this was taken overnight, door not opened, and unit on for over 40 hours with medium load) Second unit, set to the same setting of 35. This unit was doing better, however, it was unable to reach the desired setting of 35. See second graph. This unit appeared to do a god job of cycling, and maintaining a better temperature spread, and a slightly lower average temperature. However, with a desired setting of 35, this unit was still not cutting it. See graph for unit number 2. (all conditions the same as number 1- just 14 hours of data.) After speaking to the geek squad, I have found out that this is the intended way the unit is to function. This is unacceptable to me, especially for food that should be kept below 40F. In a pinch I could see how the conversion over to a fridge would work, but for a long term solution, this unit should be avoided if you want to use it as a fridge.

It is a magnificent piece. I wish I had bought it earlier. It keeps all my foods frozen conveniently.

It was wonderful for 8 months. Then it stopped cooling/freezing intermittently. A warranty service appointment was scheduled, but Best Buy cancelled it. The told me "this item isn't eligible for in home service" and that I would need to take it to my nearest Best buy store. It's nearly 160 lbs and 62 inches tall. Clearly, This isn't something that can be loaded in the back of my Jeep Cherokee. I've spent hours on the phone speaking with multiple people across the globe trying to resolve this in a reasonable manner to no avail. I will either have to try and repair it myself, hire an independent repair service on my dime or replace the unit at my expense. Based on this experience, major appliance warranty service for this major appliance seems to be non-existent.

Had the freezer for two weeks. Would of given 5 stars, but one problem. Went to put some more food in the freezer today to find that one of the shelves had shattered. Didn't have much sitting on that shelf. Had to empty the freezer to get all the broken glass out. Insignia is sending out a replacement shelf under warranty

Really pleased with the freezer, great price and value.

So far the product is running well. We bought it for extra refrigerator space during the holidays and to use as a temporary freezer when we need to defrost the large freezer. We had a very old refrigerator in the garage that this is replacing. We will be turning it off until needed again. We have issues with the interior having flaws and deep scratches causing us to worry how it will hold up with further use.

The reviews were promising. I guess I should have read more of them. As many have stated, used as a refrigerator, this unit does not maintain a safe temperature for meats and dairy (and as you can see from one of my pictures, we have milk in the fridge). The temperature on the door only shows the temperature at which you select for the unit to cool. It DOES NOT show the actual interior temperature. When I began to doubt the temperatures were getting as low as I desired because beverages just didn't seem cold, I ordered two refrigerator/freezer thermometers. I first tested them in our primary refrigerator and they were accurate within 1 degree. That tells me the top shelf of this Insignia refrigerator is barely going to touch the "SAFE" zone. Not going to risk food poisoning. Making arrangement for this thing to be returned ASAP. BTW...door temperature is set at lowest possible temp.

I want to love this convertible freezer/frig because it's almost perfect in every way, but I can not. I took delivery of it last Monday, and after 24 hours, I still could not get the refrigerator temperature lower than 40 degrees with the refrigerator setting at 35 degrees. And this is in a cold garage!! I called Insignia support, and they set up a return and replacement. The new appliance arrived on Friday, and this one is exactly the same. The fridge is set to 35 degrees, and the internal temperature (measured with THREE thermometers) hovers between 39 and 40 degrees. Best Buy has been excellent to deal with, and I so much wanted this to work. The local appliance person at the store suggested I return this second one and try a third unit, but I'm concerned the thermostats are faulty. I can't even imagine how it would be in a hot garage this summer. I just don't trust it. The refrigerator is sparsely loaded as well. My expectation is that if I set it at 35 degrees, I should get an internal temperature of close to that.

I purchased this freezer on July 27, 2024. It is now July 17 of 2025. This freezer did not even make it a year. I also bought the coverage I called in and they said they could not help me I would need to bring the freezer back to Best Buy. It's very heavy. This is worthless don't waste your time. The total of the freezer was $604.38 ridiculous waste of money.

I've been using the Insignia 13.8 Cu. Ft. Garage Ready Convertible Upright Freezer for a while now, and honestly it’s been great for our household! As someone who's always looking for a bit more storage, this freezer hit all the right notes. First off, the "convertible" part is just brilliant, having the option to switch it to a refrigerator if our needs change is such a smart feature, though I've been using it exclusively as a freezer and it's been performing like a champ, getting things frozen solid really quickly. Setting it up was a breeze, which is always a plus in my book, nobody wants to spend hours figuring things out lol. It’s surprisingly spacious inside too, I was able to organize everything with room to spare, thanks to the shelves and the door storage, which is super handy for those smaller items that usually get lost in the abyss of a chest freezer. I’m loving the upright design because I can actually see and reach everything without having to dig around, a total back saver at my age compared to my old chest freezer! It's also way quieter than I expected, it just hums along silently in the garage, which is fantastic. The temperature control is straightforward and seems to keep everything perfectly frozen, and I really like the peace of mind knowing it’s garage ready, so it’s built to handle the temperature fluctuations out there. The door seal is really strong, you can tell it's keeping all that cold air locked in, and there's even an alarm if you accidentally leave the door open, which is a lifesaver. Honestly, it’s just a solid, well thought out appliance that does exactly what it promises, and does it well at a decent price.

This Insignia Freezer/Refrigerator never was able to perform as a freezer. We lost $917.00 / 292.5 pounds of meat because this unit would not cool below 35 degrees Fahrenheit. We returned the unit and received a replacement white unit instead of the stainless steel due to availability. We filed a spoilage claim that has been denied. The replacement unit functions well so far but Best Buy has not/will not compensate us for the spoiled meat.

I'm not a freezer expert, but I don't think this looks right. See the attached picture. I wiped off the frost as well as the upper door seal, and it happened again. There was also some minor damage to the bottom of the door. Your delivery guy took a picture of the door when it was installed last week. The door is minor, compared to the frost build up. What can we do about it?

I'll never buy from Best Buy again. Dented Freezer.

It didn't last more than a year and a few months and we found everything melted. The power is on and the freezer display is still showing 4°F which really cheated us as we thought the freezer is still working and everything is fine. This is crap design.
