I had to buy plexiglas sheets (very expensive) and cut them down to fit on top of the original shelves. This is working. But, it was not easy to cut plexiglass. Otherwise the appliance works fine. i would recommend depending on what you need it for.

I had to return it for another one and I am not ever going to put something hot in it again.
