I purchased this sound bar in July 2024, and for the price, it's pretty decent. It performs well in a small room, providing clear audio that's a noticeable upgrade from built-in TV speakers. The setup was simple, and it’s been reliable so far.
However, it doesn’t have the power or depth you'd want for a larger space. The sound tends to get a bit thin in bigger rooms, and the bass isn’t very strong. I wouldn’t recommend it for a living room or an open area, but if you need an affordable option for a bedroom or office, it does the job.
Overall, a solid budget buy for small spaces.

Great Soundbar, subpar remote

Short version:
Awesome simple soundbar for this price, Bluetooth and multiple source options, good sound quality. Remote function finicky, better with a different remote.
Detailed version:
Great value for a good quality soundbar. Was looking for a simple soundbar for a bedroom, didn't need a fancy set-up, but better sound for the TV, DVD player, and a turntable. Appreciate having multiple input/source options and Bluetooth. Sharp/clear sound, and deep enough without a separate subwoofer.
The only reason this is a 4 star review (4.5 if that was an option) is that the remote requires pinpoint accuracy. If you are slightly off it won't respond, which is annoying for frequent volume adjustment from across a room for instance. It's too bad, it's a cute remote that I want to like, but it's been frustrating to use.
I am happy that my Phillips universal remote can pair with Insignia items. I can adjust the volume pointing that remote straight up in the air not even pointed remotely at the soundbar and it works. So not sure why the remote that comes included has such a small hit-box for reaching the soundbar-- before I had a universal remote, this was a big limitation.
Remote is the only critique.

If you are looking for an inexpensive soundbar that will give you decent sound, this soundbar will work well. This is best for a secondary TV room or bedroom TV that you're looking for something better than the built-in speakers but don't need anything too powerful. I use this in my den, and I am satisfied with it. The setup generally was pretty simple, though you will need to buy an HDMI ARC cable additional if you want to utilize that feature. I would suggest something with a bit more base (and maybe a subwoofer) for a main home theater or living room, but this does great for a smaller room and secondary TV. The price is hard to beat.

A Small Fee for Better Sound

A good product from Insignia. The installation to a tv with a mounting kit was easy enough. The HDMI connection via the TCL tv took a little patience for it to initialize, no biggie, however. For a low end, low priced soundbar, it has above average output. The bass is lacking, but, again, it's a small, lower end sound device. I gave it 4 stars because the HDMI port was sloppy. I tried 2 different HDMI cables. Both really loose in the port.

I think I purchased this for $40 on a Deal of the Day a while back. It has changed my tv watching experience with my cheap Roku TV.
Good:
Setup was a breeze. It has three hookups, 1/8 inch jack, optic cables, or HDMI. I ended up using the HDMI connection into my TV's eARC HDMI port (that was recommended is using HDMI). Now, I'm unsure if that's why setup was so easy or not. Basically it was plug and play. TV recognized it right away, and my master Roku TV remote just automatically started controlling the volume of the soundbar without having to tweak any settings.
What could be easier than that?
So, I never use the actual soundbar remote. But, if you wanted to, you could change up some different viewing settings like movie, standard, etc.. I just leave it on the default and it's fine for my purposes.
The Bad:
This is the only reason I give it four stars. It includes a 1/8 cable and an optic cable for connectivity. It does not include an HDMI cable. When I was trying to use the included optic cable, I COULD NOT for the life of me, get the cable to insert to the port of the soundbar or my TV. Maybe I'm missing something really easy, but I eventually had to pick up an HDMI cable to hook it up.
Yes, I did hook it up with the 1/8 inch (headphone) jack. Don't even bother with that. Terrible quality.
Once I got it hooked up with HDMI though, it's been totally fine. For $40 it's a no brainer.

Bought on sale so it was a great price. Works good and was easy to mount. Pared up to TV seamlessly so my TV remote also controls soundbar. Perfect for someone who only needs a little higher volume then what TV brings.

This soundbar is amazing for the price! The setup was quick and easy, and the sound quality is clear and powerful compared to my TV’s built-in speakers. Dialogue is crisp, and music comes through rich without distortion. It makes movie nights way more enjoyable and feels like a big upgrade without spending too much. Highly recommend!

I am so happy with this soundbar, i use it in my home gym. It was so easy to setup and just works! it fills the space in my gym with the perfect amount of sound. I usually like to watch movies or TV shows. It's really good at equalizing the volume for voices and background noises. This was a small price to pay for something that works so well! I would overall make this purchase again and i would recommend this to anyone on the fence about it. For the price it produces fantastic sound!

I have an insignia/fire tv so adding this insignia sound bar was pretty straight forward. I used the optic cord included to connect my tv to the sound bar, plugged in to the outlet, turned on the sound bar and on the sound bar ‘selected’ the green light (optic cable interface) indicator on the sound bar. The selecting the right sound output on the tv was a bit of trial and error on the tv home settings menu. I selected the soundbar as the sound outlet but didn’t turn off my tv’s speakers. Now the sound is clear and more full sounding. It was a pretty easy fix. I now have 2 of this soundbar attached to my living room and bedroom tvs. I purchased both soundbars on sale or close out each was less than $50. I feel it’s a total win. I’m not a very technical person and very happy that neither was this soundbar.

Bought to go with a tv for my Grandmother. Something major simple, to upgrade the old box to, and help boost hearing the tv itself. And it's been excellent. Set up of course easy as can be. With no issues coming from my Grandmother on how to work it. Have it all set up and synced to work with her Xfinity remote. Which if wanting to do the same, make sure you use an HDMI cable to connect the bar to the tv. Otherwise, wouldve liked a small lil screen on the bar to display volume level when pushed, or which input is being chosen. But that's one due to me having a bar of my own that does so. But with me Gram having this, would've been more helpful if inputs were switched by accident. Make it is to get back to the tv input. Still would recommend regardless. Like I said simple and easy, sounds nice, and would be nice anywhere we need a boost of volume.

Good sound quality, easy to use and easy to set up. If you are looking for deep bass, you need a soundbar with a subwoofer. Personally, I think this soundbar is more suited for a bedroom or for someone who doesn’t prefer much bass. As stated on the box, this soundbar is not compatible with some TVs. Perfect for my bedroom!

Very nice sound for such an inexpensive sound bar. The bass is not there, there is no subwoofer. However, there is a good range and the max volume is more than enough. If you have a cheap TV with crappy sound, then this is a definite upgrade.

Overall the sound bar sounds good, and connectingit with the cord to a tv is no problem. Though trying to then connect it with bluetooth to something else really doesn't work well. I tinkered with it fir a bit and got it eventualy though.

This does a great job at sounding noticeably better than the tragic, built-in speakers on a flatscreen TV, but it's not fooling anyone when comparing against anything with any amount of subwoofer/bass. Would recommend for casual TV watching, not for movie night.

So far so good. Serves the purpose I intended for it - watching football and sitting around bonfires. If you’re looking for a richer surround sound this may not be for you.
This sound bar adds a better sound at higher levels than my tv. It’s easy to sync and I have a LG tv and it’s compatible.
It would’ve been nice to have a volume display but not imperative. I will tell you there is a Bass Button on the remote however I see no purpose for it. This is NO change in BASS.
All in all I find it a great value because it serves MY purpose for it. I wanted better sound for my outdoor tv and I have it.
