The setup is easy, hence the 3 stars. I’m just not sure it makes any difference in how the sound is coming from the sound bar vs the tv, hence the -2 stars. Not sure I can recommend one way or the other as I’m not completely sure there’s a difference.

I was happy with my purchase, until I installed it. For whatever reason, although it seemed to indicate that it was hooked up correctly, it produced no sound whatsoever, and the TV did not recognize that I had plugged in external speakers. I had to return it.

I was hoping the sound bar might have had a “break in” period. But nope! The subwoofer doesn’t do anything!! It’s plugged in, it’s paired, but no sound comes from it whatsoever!! I’m now stuck with it. The sound bar is okay for the Fire tv it’s attached to. But the sub woofer does absolutely nothing!! Really sucks. I wouldn’t even sell it to someone.

I always like insignia products. This one is very hard to connect to WiFi. I then purchased an audio cord to see if I can make it work. Still no luck. Now I’m going to see if google can give me better insight on how to make it work. You must have to be really tech savvy for this one. Not sure but don’t want to waste money and have it sit here.

I was very disappointed with this soundbar system. While it looks nice and installed easily, it sounded awful. The Soundbar itself has a tinny sound which would probably be offset by the subwoofer and it would be acceptable. But therein lies the problem. The subwoofer is useless. It sounds like a blown speaker, all you hear is a low blub, blub, blub. The directions say you can adjust the settings and volume with the remote, but nothing changes much. I had such high hopes for this system, but sadly I had to return it to the store.

This sound system is absolutely amazing. For it being a 2.1, 80 watts, wireless and "Insignia" brand this thing kicks butt! It's pretty loud. We don't have a large home. This system is just perfect for what we need. We didn't have to pay high dollar for a fancy sound system. Yes, I like fancy things as well, but I love to save money, the right way and still be able to get great quality for my money. If this was really bad and not worth my money then my rating would say different, but I'm not blowin smoke, so if you're looking for a great sound system for a great price and you don't need something for a large room then this is it. The soundbar is nice and loud. One good thing about this system is the soundbar has it's own separate sound volume from the HDTV. You you wanted to raise the volume higher through the soundbar it will go loud, if you wanted to add more volume you can raise your HDTV's volume and it will GO LOUDER!!! Trust me you will like this little firecracker. Lotsa Bang for you Buck! If you love to entertain, play EXTREMELY loud sounds and have money to throw, then buy whatever you want. I would, but at this point I don't see a reason to. This thing is perfect, my son got this for me as a Xmas gift. He knew I wanted a BOSE but it's the thought that counts and I'm not complaining at all. He got this during the Holiday sales I believe and was excited to tell me he paid $60 for this setup. Although it does not come with HDMI hookup or port. It does have the port for an optical cable. It also comes with Audio RCA cables and 3.5mm audio jack plug. But no hdmi port. For a $150 sound system you'd think it'd have the hdmi port built in but it doesn't. Best Buy has the Dynex opticals for $5, yeah they are not included with the setup. Insignia has some opticals if you want everything to match up, just cost a few bucks more. Setup between HDTV to Soundbar to wireless Subwoofer was quick very quick and easy. You could also mount the soundbar and comes with a template and mounting screws. The remote is a small profile and simple to use and navigate. The build quality is superb and heavy. The subwoofer cabinet is also of excellent quality, nice bass not THX or anything but is very decent for home setup. Bluetooth setup to another device like a smartphone, tablet, ipad or laptop is very very fast and easy. So all in all this thing amazed me, amazed me so much the very next week it went on daily deals for $59.99 again and I had to purchase one for the bedroom. Next day's daily deal Insignia had 6ft. optical cables for $8.99 but I saw Dynex opticals for $5 and I grabbed two of those instead. So once I get them installed I'll head over to those to leave a review. One more thing, you'll want to get optical cables and install them. When I hooked up the first sound system with the rca's and 3.5mm audio jack. There is white noise feedback due to those connections. So for a better or best audio connection with zero feedback grab some optical cables. Hope this helps!

This is my first experience with a sound bar and I am very pleased with it for the money I spent. It’s easy to set up and use and I am very happy with the sound. The cords that come with it aren’t the “best” but they work so I didn’t see the need to purchase an expensive one. If you plan on buying I would check your tv for inputs. My tv is also an insignia so I thought it might hook up via Bluetooth but the Roku tv will only recognize a Roku speaker over Bluetooth. I have used the Bluetooth option with my phone and music sound great. The subwoofer isn’t always noticeable but I think that has more to do with the sound output of what I am watching. I also tend to keep the bass a little lower because I live in an apartment. My only real complaint is the remote. The power button tends to be a little non-responsive. I frequently have to press it 2 or 3 times to get it to work. I’m so used to having multiple remotes that I haven’t tried paring a different one. My tv remote will change the volume but it also changes the volume on the tv. The tv volume has to be kept at 0 because it sounds terrible with the sound bar.

This is an amazingly good deal if you buy it on sale (well under $100) . Easily the equal of name brand soundbars costing more than twice as much. Theater mode is especially strong, with sonic tricks to expand the sound field and give more of a surround sound feel. Subwoofer does a good job of filling out the low end. The smaller speakers in the soundbar do the rest, providing a pretty well rounded sound with plenty of volume. No, it can't match a decent receiver and speaker setup But few if any soundbars, at any cost, can do that. Sure, they cut a few corners to keep the price down. The best sound comes via an optical connection. That is the one cable that does come with the soundbar. (RCA and aux. only) It also lacks the more desirable HDMI ARC connection. But optical gets the job done. From what I can tell, there is no special Dolby or DTS decoding going on here. (None is mentioned in the specs) Just plain old stereo and maybe not even that. But it sounds decent if used in a relatively small room. Great in fact, at this price point. There is a good balance between voice and even loud soundtracks, a big issue with many soundbars (the dialogue gets drowned out). The remote (comes with two no-name AAA batteries) is a pretty bare bones affair. Power, volume, mute and dedicated sound mode buttons. There is no on-screen menu or even volume indicator. In optical mode, volume can only be controlled with the remote. TV volume control does nothing. So you have to juggle two remotes, which is a pain and perhaps the biggest downside in this package. Setup in optical mode can be challenging, not because of the soundbar but because of your TV. Output must be set to PCM and that setting can be hard to find, buried many layers deep in the sound menu. Some people are reporting problems pairing wireless subwoofer but mine connected by itself with no issues. Plug in the soundbar first for best results. There is no volume indicator on the soundbar but a single LED does change color between off (red) and on (green). Other colors denote the audio source you are using. Overall, you can't go wrong with soundbar if you are on a budget. It provides a vast improvement over any built in HDTV speakers and looks pretty decent too.
