Reasonably priced….speed is decent…durability decent…

Installing the drive into the enclosure is very easy if you understand how to work a Philips head screwdriver. All metal construction with excellent build quality. Works great, no issues. Highly recommend. Great for transferring data or using extra serial HDD's for data storage. Throw a solid state drive in there and it's blinding fast.

This case turned my old laptop hard drive instantly into an external hard drive that I can use with my laptop and tablet. It was super easy to install. And, it even comes with a screwdriver to assist you in the removing of the hard drive from my old laptop. I was able to immediately access the drive via another laptop and via my tablet.

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro, and when it start giving me issues and no longer booted; I bought this to install the troubled drive into as a shortcut to salvaging what I had on it. Bought an SSD for my laptop, and stuck the HDD in this to salvage my files. Worked perfectly, with no software required. A must have if considering replacing your HDD... Much quicker than any cloud or remote backup.

My samsung laptop finally gave up the goat. Purchased a new laptop, took the hard drive out of the old laptop encased it in this product. I first usb'd it to a chromebook, and it had a funny reaction, but I think that has more to do with the chromebook OS. When I connected it to a Dell Windows laptop it worked fine. Install is easy enough, instructions could be a little more helpful.

This enclosure is petite and very easy to use. Two screws to remove, plug in the laptop size hard drive into the adapter, insert the adapter with the HD attached and tighten the two screws, attach the USB cable to the HD enclosure and the other end of the USB cable to your computer. That's it - should take no more than 5 - 10 minutes and as soon as you plug the USB cable into your computer it will automatically install the correct drivers and away go, ready to work - backup, copy off files.;

It is exactly as it seems. Open the case, plug in a SATA hard drive, and you have an external drive. Most cases need to be pried apart with a knife, but this one conveniently uses screws. We bought it to retrieve files from a dead laptop computer. Operation success. It comes with a 3.0 USB cable.

I had 2 old HP laptop hard disks that I wanted to access the data from. This enclosure fit the bill perfectly. Easy to use. Just slip a single hard disk into the enclosure, put two screws to hold in place then plug one side of the supplied cable into the enclosure and the other USB end to your computer and it's recognized as an external hard disk. Great product and simple to use. A big thumbs up.

We needed a hard drive enclosure for a drive from a laptop that had died. After researching various ones, I chose the Insignia 2.5" Serial HD Enclosure. My local Best Buy had it in stock at a very reasonable price. It met my requirements. It was easy to install the drive in it and use. It worked the first time I attached it to the new computer. The experience buying it at Best Buy was great.

I purchased this enclosure to assist with the upgrade of my laptop from a 1TB drive to a 1TB SSD drive. The bonus is, once completed, I will have this to use as a 1TB external hard drive backup for the laptop. Not bad for the price. I was originally afraid it would be a one time solution, but now am glad to have it as a permanent addition to my technology.

When my computer died, the local computer guy wanted big bucks to save my hard drive. The geeks at Best Buy pointed this enclosure out to me and explained exactly how to use it. It works great! I was able to remove my hard drive, get it into the enclosure and hook it up to my new computer in ~10 minutes. I now have a new external drive all for about a third of the cost my local guy wanted. I put a SanDisk SSD in this enclosure in the process of replacing the hard drive in my tower PC. This USB 3.0 enclosure worked flawlessly with Acronis True Image software. By comparison with 2.5-inch USB 2.0 enclosures I have used, this product is sturdier and transfers files much more quickly. I am very pleased with the service it has given me, not to mention the ease of use.

Functions great for holding small sata drives, either SSD or disk drives. I use it to install operating systems on new computers and it works great for that! It is also the only enclosure that BB has at the store I went to, so I guess that made it nicer.

I bought this enclosure for a hard drive that was on a laptop of mine that no longer worked. Easy to install the hard drive in the enclosure. Box inludes the enclosure and the wire to connect your laptop to any other device also comes with its own screw driver which is a nice plus. I have a new laptop that this enclosure is now connected and the laptop reads my old files nice and fast.

This hard drive adapter was recommended by the Geek Squad and I have been happy with how it has performed. It was easy to extract the hard drive from an old Toshiba laptop, but there were no instructions or guidance that said the metal case surrounding it had to be removed prior to trying to insert it into this new Insignia hard drive enclosure. Once that was accomplished all went well.

For ultra-low $$, you can buy this Enclosure and pull your 2.5" hard-drive from your damaged or obsolete laptop and instantly have an external hard-drive for storage or anything else that requires memory. Have a music server? Start downloading your music through one of these Enclosures onto a hard-drive that you have lying around. Highly recommended!

Was looking for something to expand my PS4 storage. I had a couple laptop hardrives I wasn't using and decided to give it a try. Works perfectly, PS4 formatted and recognized the hard drive right away. If you have an old laptop laying around don't hesitate to use it's hard drive in this.

I have only had this for a short time and normally I do not do reviews so soon after purchase but with these 2 Enclosures there is no reason to wait or to tell everyone to Buy it if it meets the requirements they have as this is a Great item as All Insignia Products that I currently own are great and the only time I had an issue with an Insignis item it was the remote to my Insignia FireTV and when BestBuy heard of the issue they did all they could but the remote is Special to this TV so I contacted Insignia & they Immediately sent a replacement remote Priority Delivery at ZERO cost to me! I offered to Buy one from the start, but they would have no part of that since there has never been any problems with my accounts at BestBuy or with Insignia.

I turned the drive from my old laptop into a backup drive with this handy box. There was virtually nothing to it. A couple of screws, connect to the drive, close it back up, plug it in, reformat and test the drive, and it's ready to go.

Computer died & needed to try to retrieve files from hard drive. This drive enclosure was perfect. After removing hard drive from computer, it took 5 minutes to put it in the enclosure & plug connection in new computer & to begin retrieving data. Price was great.
