I decided to upgrade my 1 TB laptop hd to a SSD and couldn't decide what would be the best way to actually transfer the data. I saw this in the store when I was picking up my SSD and decided to give it a try. I will say I made the upgrade go easy, I just put the SSD in this enclosure, downloaded the SSD software, transferred all of my data, unplugged, shutdown, swapped out the HD's and all is good. Also, I now have a 1 TB external backup by using my old HD for backing up needed files.

This enclosure is perfect for any SATA hard drive. This one is less expensive and does the job with flying colors. Definitely recommend!

Bought this so I could salvage data off my dead laptop. Was super easy to assemble. It even comes with a screwdriver. Plugged it in to a good laptop, waited nervously while the data had its 'ownership' changed, and was thrilled to see all my files accessible again. Wish I had bought this when it was on sale, but saving my old hard drive, photos, and files for about $30 is still quite a bargain.

This was the only hard drive enclosure they carried, but seems to be fine. Easy to put together and works just fine. Reasonably priced.

This case was exactly what I needed. Super easy to use, and performed flawlessly. I turned an old hard drive into a backup storage.

This is great! I dug up an old laptop I had, only to find that it was unusable. I bought the Insignia Hard Drive Enclosure to salvage the hard drive. Installing the hard drive into the case was easy, and it works like a charm! I have access to all my old files, and was able to lauch a few of the programs as well. (I say, a few, because the old laptop was Windows XP, and I now have a Windows 7).

I purchased this with hopes to access the files I lost when my laptop died. (or was murdered by its last update) Unfortunately, the hard drive was likely too far damaged because it told me it needed repaired but it would never fully finish. That being said, the product itself works fine and is pretty simple to use if the hard drive being installed is functional.

I purchased this adapter to use a 1TB hard drive on my Xbox 1 as added storage. The case is built well even though I have used some that are more rugged. For this application I didn't need rugged as it is never moved. The 1 TB SATA drive easily fit inside. In terms of speed, the USB 3.0 connection provides it. I have several games installed on the external hard drive and load times are equal between this external drive and the internal drive of the Xbox 1. For increase speed I would recommend a SSD drive if you wanted faster load times. Overall I am very satisfied with this product extending my storage capacity on my Xbox 1.

I wanted a new hard drive for my desktop - one that would not wear out after so many cycles. So I bought two of these, copied the original using the Macrium Reflect free edition and installed them after removing my old 1TB HDD and making it the new backup drive. The boot and shutdown sequence is about 10-20% what it used to be and programs run a lot faster now. I am quite happy with this and look forward to upgrading my laptops very soon.

Very useful if you want to connect an internal 2.5'' HDD in a laptop to an external HDD. I needed a hard drive enclosure for my dad's old laptop's hdd. This enclosure met my expectations and allowed me to enclose my 2.5'' laptop Hard Drive into this enclosure that had an in-built SATA connection. Once the HDD was enclosed, I was able to connect the USB 3.0 cable that came with this product to my PCs USB 3.0 socket and recovered all the data that I needed to before formatting the HDD.

This purchase brought back years of data I thought was lost. My pc power supply failed miserably. I removed the SS storage (1TB) and this enclosure put my drive back in service quickly and easily. I use this all the time, daily! I am THRILLED this solution worked!

Hard drive works great for my need. The only issue I had was the case could not hold my hard drive. Example, my hard drive was slight larger than case. It still functioned well and was extremely easy to use...I just needed to hook up my hard drive with the cord directly to the computer without inserting it in the protective case.

Works great. Bonus is, it will work with a normal 3.5 drive outside the case. Only draw back is, 2 screws hold the drive together, but while it doesn't allow quick changes, it does add to the solid feel
