Bought this adapter for an international trip. It did not work very well and I could not get it to lock into place. I was only able to get it to work in one hotel.

If international travel is your game and packing light is a pain, here's something that might help, at least little: Insignia's International travel power adapter. This tiny little cube, about 2 inches on each side, not only has power plugs to fit US, UK, EU and Australian outlets (among others) , but also outputs power to three USB ports (2 C type and 1 A) to keep your phones, tablets and similar devices fully charged, no matter where you are. The clever design uses three different retractable power plugs, that pop out when you need them and disappear inside the cube when you don't. Even better, it serves an adapter to those funny looking foreign outlets, rated at 100-240 volts and 50-60Hz.The cube has two US AC outlets, one on the front and one on the side. Be aware, however, the cube does NOT convert voltage, and does not support high-power devices like hair dryers, so use with care. As for the USB ports, the two USB C outputs are PD rated, producing up to 20 watts. The two USB C port provideat 5 volts/3 amps or 9 volts/2.2 amps. The USB A port produces 15 watts at 5 volts/3 amps. That power is shared by all ports so power output for each port drops and charging time increases if you it use more than device at a time. Higher voltage models are available if you need them. The only significant downside to this power adapter is an odd design quirk. The USB ports are all on the bottom of the cube, which makes them difficult to see or use once it is plugged in. Solution: Plug in your USB cables BEFORE you plug in the adapter. For all you geeks out there, you might be interested to know this adapter is made using the new GaN (gallium nitride) transistors. They are smaller, more efficient and run cooler than silicone-based transistors, commonly used in earlier generation chargers. So you get a lot less heat buildup with this very compact travel adapter.

First thing to keep in mind is this is an adapter but not a voltage comverter- so be aware if you have a high voltage appliance this may not be what you're looking for. I really wanted this to use on cruise ships to give me access to an extra outlet in my cabin. It has two AC outlets, 2 USB-C outlets, and one USB-A. The 20W is fine for cell phones and tablets, but is too underpowered for most laptops. Also, it when charging more than one device the 20W power is split between devices. The design is extremely compact- as someone who refuses to check a bag, I appreciate something that doesn't take up much room. The outlets are awkwardly placed. When I tried to use this in an outlet over a desk, the USB ports on the bottom weren't able to be accessed. This adapter works well for lower-powered devices, but if you travel frequently or have multiple high powered devices like laptops or appliances like hair dryers or straightening irons, you would be better served by a higher wattage adapter.

What a handy little device! Easy-to-use and priced right. Although my husband and I don’t travel often, it’s nice to have this Insignia Travel Power Adapter designed for international use available to us. While “blocky” in shape, and larger than your average power adapter plug, it needs to be for what it’s meant to be used for. Switching between the various adapter plugs is accomplished by a simple slide of one of the side ‘buttons.’ Plugs are: USA, Australia, Europe, and the United Kingdom. There are several ports, as well. Including: 2 USB-C, 1 USB-A. Though only rated for a total output of 20 watts max, for basic charging of mobile phones, tablets, laptops, portable gaming consoles, and other electronic accessories, or small household appliances such as travel blow dryers/electric razors/toothbrushes, this power adapter should suffice. Make sure to review the Quick Setup Guide before use. There are even instructions on how to change out the fuse in the event that becomes necessary. Overall, for a basic power travel adapter it’s pretty good. Insignia, Best Buy’s own brand, often offers more inexpensive options for your technology needs, and this device is one to consider if you are intending to travel internationally. Recommend.

The Insignia 20W travel adapter is a great addition to my bag. I travel internationally occasionally so having this with me is very helpful. I have another adapter but it is only for use in the UK versus other countries in the European Union or Australia. It has two regular AC plugs for your laptops or other devices that don’t receive power via a USB adapter. There is one USB-A port and two USB-C ports allowing you to power multiple devices at a time. Each of the different plug adapters come out of the block with a push of a sliding button. Once out, they lock into place and it’s a simple push of the same button to retract them back into the block. At only 20 watts of total output, charging devices may be a bit slow but will certainly do the trick. Also, you do need to be cautious not to overload it. I would suggest only plugging in one larger device at a time or two smaller ones so that you don’t overheat or damage the adapter. The adapter has a fuse to help protect itself from being damaged by overload and comes with an extra one in case you have issues. At only a quarter of a pound, its weight is insignificant and won’t be a noticeable addition to what could already be a packed bag of electronics.
