Before this it charged well, but now is basically unusable.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since modern iPhones don't have bricks anymore, I've been using whatever comes to hand to charge my Apple devices. One thing I've noticed is that chargers that support fast charging tend to be annoyingly bulky. Not this one. It's small enough that it doesn't even take up multiple slots on a traditional power strip, which honestly would make it a winner by itself even if it wasn't a fast charger. But no, it does fast charging too. My iPhone 12 mini can be on less than 10% and this thing will have me back up to 70% in about as much time as it takes to eat lunch. It's also decently quick at charging my iPad and older iPhones. The included cable is pretty sturdy and connects solidly, and I've never accidentally yanked it out at either end yet. I also like how the cable disconnects at the brick and the prongs fold away into the brick, because I can just toss it in my purse or pocket without worrying about breaking the cable or stabbing the prongs through fabric. To be fair, a charger is a charger, and it's mostly a matter of personal preference. However, if a friend needed one, I'd probably point this one out to them, particularly if I knew they tended to plug it into a power strip. It's quick, it's solid, and it doesn't make me worry I'm going to burn the house down.

This ended up being a real issue when my child's school district began issuing and sending home iPads for school. We were originally provided with a charging cord, however it was slow and ultimately my child ended up losing the one provided. I ended up purchasing another budget cable that had adapters to work with Micro USB, USB-C, and Lightning ports, however after three became unusable within a couple months of use, I was tired of buying discount store specials. This Insignia 20W Fast Charger Kit was definitely the solution I was looking for. Since we have to charge my child's iPad every night for school the next day, I needed a product that was reliable and up to the task. Too many times my previous budget charger had failed or snail charged leaving my child disappointed that she was not able to start the school day with a full charge. This Insignia charger has been reliable, fast charging, and just simply does the job it is tasked with. It is also a bonus that the transformer box has a small footprint and the output is via USB-C, which seems to me the modern requirement for charging any mobile electronics.

The power block provides 20 watts which can easily charge my iPhone or iPad. It is the first adapter I have had with the small physical size of a phone charger, but still powerful enough to quickly charge tablets. It has a solid USB-C connection and it comes with a high quality USB-C to Lightning power cord. The cord is 6 feet long and thick. It feels very sturdy compared to the average phone charger cord. Obviously I have only had it for a few days, but it seems like it is going to last a long time. Besides sturdiness, one of the most important qualities I look for in a cord is a plug that easily snaps into place without any wiggling, but also has a small enough size to fit into my rugged cases. I have had more than one cord that had too big of a plug and would not fit. This one fits perfectly and feels secure. Overall, I have zero complaints. It is a nice little charger that does a fast, efficient job. It is perfect for travel with its folding plugs, but also strong enough for everyday use. I would definitely purchase it over cheaper alternatives.
