This is essentially the Toshiba Fire TV in a smaller size, with the Best Buy "Insignia" store brand, so all of the internet streaming features of the Fire TV are the same, including Amazon's "Alexa" interface as well as the remote control. I bought this to replace an old analog TV in the guest room. There are just four things you need to do to get this up and running. First, watch Best Buy's online video about how to unpack the set from the box and install the footstands (optional - not needed for a wall installation, obviously). Second, follow the easy setup instructions that are included in the box. Third, download the user manual, which contains much more detailed information than what is provided in the box. You may never need to refer to it, but it answers a lot of questions that might come up. Finally, using the remote, turn on the set and follow the step-by-step instructions. Make sure you have the volume up so that you can hear the audible instructions. We never dropped a cable TV line into the guest room, so everything was over-the-air (OTA) using a digital converter box and an antenna in the attic. Part of the setup instructions includes scanning for OTA channels, if that is how you will be receiving your local channels. The good news is that the set comes with a built-in tuner, so the digital converter box I was using was no longer needed. The only weaknesses in the OTA operation are the on-screen channel guide and the lack of numeric buttons on the remote. With the digital converter box, you would manually input the channel and then adjust the antenna position as needed for maximum signal strength, which is something you need to do if you do not live in the city where the signal originates. In my case, with the antenna in the attic, I have to use a remote control to rotate the antenna as needed. Since the Fire TV remote does not have direct entry capability, you have to use the on-screen channel list and scroll up or down with the remote to select the channel you want. If the channel you are looking for does not appear on the list, you have to move the antenna and re-scan. With the old digital converter box, I could just input the channel I wanted and then move the antenna until a decent signal was received. The lack of direct channel entry means you will have a lot of trial and error with the antenna positioning before the Fire TV finds it and adds it to the channel list. The other OTA issue is the on-screen channel guide itself. The guide is set up by channel name, not channel number, so instead of having the local channels and their digital subchannels all grouped together in numeric order (e.g., 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, etc.), you have the names and icons of each "network" (e.g., ABC, NBC, Fox, COZI, Movies!, LiveWell, Get, MeTV, Buzzr, Telemundo, Univision, etc.), along with the call signs of whatever independent stations the scan finds. This requires some brain retraining to look for "MyNetworkTV" instead of "Channel 9." The other unusual thing is that the on-screen guide does not differentiate between HD and SD signals, so you will see the same channel listed twice in those occasions with no explanation. All things considered, it's a minor annoyance. The guide itself is very good in that it provides enough detail about the programming on each channel. Bottom line this is a solid product with great features at a good price. It's not 4K, but at 24 inches, 720p is all you need.

Great Picture Quality just the right fit

I have had Insignia Roku and this TV was a gift. I purchased it because it had to fit in a cabinet in a home office. Unfortunately, Insignia is being paired with Amazon for it's smart TV's now. The owner loves the great picture quality and it is just the right size. I still think it has some drawbacks: 1. It being an Amazon Fire Smart TV the Amazon products are featured heavily in the default home screen. 2. The remote does not have a "source" or "input" button rather you can ask Alexa to switch it using the mic button on the remote to talk to her. 3. I know this is an Insignia TV and Amazon Prime was an internal "addon", but you cannot talk to alexa without the remote and pressing the mic button. This is an Alexa home with several Alexa listening devices throughout the home so I am curious if it works with different Alexa devices. 4. The default TV input can be set to the last input used, but not for example HDMI 1 which for me is cable. This means the last thing I am watching is netflix and I turn it on in the morning to watch news it is still on netflix so I have to switch it over. 5. This is a real small flat screen TV with no built in handles designed in the back of the TV to lift or carry it? This is really very minor, but never crazy about TV's that essentially make you moving it around by holding the edge of the screen. 6. No Composite cable hook up only AV (RCA), Coaxial, and HDMI. AV (RCA) is great for older video cameras, but composite might be needed for older gaming platforms. Composite to HDMI converters are inexpensive, but it would take up another of your 3 HDMI inputs. I would rather get Composite plus 3 HDMI inputs. In case your wondering what I need 4 inputs for, it is Blu-Ray, Cable, Chromecast, and a gaming system.

I bought this to avoid having a dongle. The picture is great. But TV’s are now commodities and all pictures are great. My issue is with the TV interface. This is in my bathroom. I want a TV that will simply turn on to the latest channel that I was last watching. This TV does not do that. It takes about 4 button presses to get to a live TV channel. That’s just ridiculous. I do like the Fire interface for those occasional times I watch a movie or access my Tablo DVR. But come on. Can’t there be an option to just turn on with a single power button without being presented with the Fire Menu. This could probably be fixed with a software updated. One other point. The fire stick has an option to link a Windows 10 PC to mirror the screen. it’s a great feature and I use that at work as a training tool. For some stupid reason, the TV does not allow the same experience. Why not?? Buy a dumb TV and add the stick. Even though you will have 2 remotes, you will have more options and a better experience.

The picture and sound are good for this unit but I use the TV with a Channel Master DVR+ OTA DVR. When I hit the menu button on the Channel Master remote the TV goes to over the air channel nine so I have to aim the CM remote on the floor so the set doesn't do this. I also have an antenna hooked directly to the RF input. I don't like that you can't call up channel 12.2 as there is no keypad. You have to go by the station ID but that doesn't work. In Milwaukee we have over the air channel 55.1 thru 55.6 and three of the channels have the same ID WPXE-DT. NBC is 4.1 here but you have to go the program guide to find NBC or ABC or MeTV. Obviously Amazon didn't do their homework when using over the air channels with this machine. If you have cable, satellite or streaming services this won't matter to you. I like the 3 HDMI inputs on the set. Overall it's a nice set if you don't use an antenna.

This TV is perfect for our basement area! It's a workout/playroom area, and now my daughter isn't creeped out being down there lol. It is very easy to use, and we love it! My experience purchasing this on Black Friday was a very poor experience however, as the employee "helping" me told me at least 5x that it was too much work for him to wrap up the display TV and he did not want to do that. I even offered to do the "heavy lifting" on this HUGE & HEAVY ("eye roll") TV. He then had the nerve to hit on me during check out and ask me to buy him a drink. If you're not man enough to wrap up my small 24" TV, you're not man enough for ME to buy YOU a drink. Pretty freaking ridiculous and Best Buy customer service would not do anything about this when I reported it. He also forgot the remote. I had to make TWO return trips to get the remote that went with this TV. So anyways, the TV is awesome. I probably won't be back to the Longmont, CO store though.

    Great TV for Bedroom

Bought this TV and mounted it on swivel wall mount for watching TV in my bedroom. Nice size for bedroom. I also have it in a 2nd home where I only had one TV hooked up to cable. didn't want to pay for more equipment, etc. actually might ultimately cut the cord and just go internet, but I have the most basic package I won't save much. But was able to stream most channels with the apps ( showtime Anytime, Fox, ABC, CBS, Netflix, Prime, and Hulu as well as a few others) also did surprisingly well for web browsing but just used the remote to type characters in browser... All in all great TV or bedroom - clear picture and 720 is very clear for this size TV. I don't really notice a difference over 1080p on larger TV in Living room. by the way also bought the smaller 19 inch for a sunroom in other house and that works great too. actually bought the 19 inch first and was very happy with it so decided to get this one for bedroom TV.

Skype is not compatible and I cannot find any other video conferencing apps. There is also no Miracast on it. I bought it hoping to be able to at least mirror video conferencing apps to the Fire TV Edition from my android. (Apps are mostly for movies and tv series. There is imdb freedive and one other app but most are rent or buy.) Mirroring seems limited to youtube or your very own photos and videos located on your phone. The Fire TV app replaces your remote; it's not for mirroring. So I'm looking for an hdmi cable/adapter from Fire TV to android but it's mostly available from China unless you want to spend $30+. Again, the apps on Fire TV Edition are very limited by Amazon. It's not like Google Play Store nor Apple Store. No Line app, no Viber, no Whats App, no Skype. Cannot even connect my bluetooth headphones.

Be careful when buying a wall mount

Everything about this TV is great. The Fire TV software updated when I first connected to WiFi and the remote control updated on the 2nd use. I didn't use the over-the-air features preferring instead to only hook up Amazon, Hulu Live TV, and Netflix and all of those worked great. My only warning is that the VESA pattern on the back of the set is 100x200 and 200 is the height and 100 is the width. The mount I purchased supported 200x100 VESA holes but only in a horizontal 200 orientation. So I had to purchase an $18 VESA adapter plate to make that mount work. Between the mount and the adapter plate I almost spent as much money hanging this thing up as I did on the TV! At this price I'm tempted to buy another one of these for my garage.

Was having issues with an existing TV so I was looking for something inexpensive and a Smart TV. Ran across this one at $99 at a local Best Buy. The picture is pretty good, and was excited that this one has a guide to go along with the OTA antenna connection. I've been able to pause live TV as well--but I don't know for how long you can do it. I assume there is a small buffer set up in the TV itself. I also use the SideClick attachment for my TVs that use a FireTV or a Roku, and unfortunately this remote doesn't fit. It's sized between a regular FireTV remote and a Roku remote. I ended up moving my sound bar to another TV as the sound on this TV was better than my old TV, so I didn't need the SideClick anymore in this room. Had it for about 3 months now and I've been happy with it.

Decent small TV for spare bedroom

This tv certainly isn’t going to blow anyone away with its features or picture quality but it gets the job done. We simply needed a small TV for guests to be able to watch in the spare bedroom. The speed and functionality of the Amazon afire TV aspect of this set seem to be somewhat lacking compared to an actual Fire TV box. Netflix sometimes takes a minute or two to load up after pressing the button or selecting from the home screen and there are sometimes where it never loads up at all and I have to restart the TV. By all means a very functional and practical TV but certainly not a home run.

I was looking for a flat screen to go into a narrow armoire. I had 27 1/2 inches width. LG's 28-inch (diagonal) flat screen fit perfectly in the space I had to work with. A 28-inch set is hard to find except from LG. The performance of the set is crystal clear. Colors are perfect. The remote is easy to use. The sound is acceptable... the speakers have to be small to fit the case. There is an Audio Out on the back for amplified speakers of a larger size. I would highly recommend this set for anyone dealing with size issues!

I purchased this for my bf as an all-in-one for the home office - to connect the PS4, Xbox, Computer and use as a streaming option for Prime and Hulu. Everything works great, except as a computer monitor. In all of the HDMI ports, we've set them to their appropriate input, but none of them have an option for a computer. As a result, graphics are terrible when shone on the screen; and the text is near unreadable it's so blurry/pixelated. TLDR: Great TV; great for consoles; do NOT use for a computer.

Wanted to replace a 19" with a larger TV for the kitchen. The 24" was the ideal fit and the Insignia 24" 720p with Amazon Fire TV was the pick I went with. I am more concerned with the price versus name brand, but will not buy junk. When this item went on sale, it was about the lowest price model at that size with Smart features. I setup the unit with my Prime account info and was watching it within minutes of getting it programmed. I use it with Amazon Prime, DirecTV and OTA programming. It meets my needs without breaking the bank.

We needed a small tv to replace a cheapo 15” LCD that had outlived its purpose in our kitchen. I found the 24” Insignia FIRE TV on a daily deal and snapped it up. So glad I did! Great picture for 720p and built in speakers are clear and crisp. Having Netflix, Hulu, and more of our favoured streaming apps available is icing on the cookie!! It has far exceeded our expectations for a set costing less than a C-note. We added two years geek service for only a few bucks just in case, but doesn’t appear we’ll need it!

I like the TV. But I purchased it to be a combination TV - Computer Monitor. The problem? It maxes out at 720 pixels (horizontal lines), which is good for a small Television, but horrible for use with a decent computer video card. My video card recommends using 1080 horizontal lines for full HD, and this TV cannot do that reasonably and look good as a monitor. So I have had to comprimise and use 768 horizontal lines (1366 pixels across each of those lines rather than the 1920 recommended). So I cannot recommend it as a Monitor

My wife and 8-year old son both give thumbs up to this TV. They like the ease of accessing Netflix and Amazon Prime through the quick access buttons on the remote. From my perspective, the picture is good, bright, and vibrant, and the remote is easy to use. My only complaint is that the channels are listed in alphabetical order by the station name, rather than the traditional numeric order. This makes it a little irritating to just go channel up/down and know what channel you're going to get.

The tv itself works great. It was purchased for our son who is blind with additional special needs since the remote included is a firestick. What attracted us to the product is voice control of the remote which would give our son independence controlling the tv, he would no longer need to wait for someone to change a channel for him. Unfortunately, you need to put parental controls on so that he can not purchase apps by mistake. Once the parental controls are on he can no longer access the tv independently. Kind of defeated the purpose of buying him this television.

I originally bought the LG white 24 inch TV but returned it. I loved the white and the stand on the LG but the sound wasn't great and I couldn't connect to Spectrum so returned it and got this TV and glad I did. Great picture and sound and I was able to connect to Spectrum through FitzyTV, an app that was already on the TV. And the price was unbeatable at $89! The only thing I had an issue with was the length to get the legs attached, that was a little hard for me. I needed a magnetic screwdriver but finally got them in there.

This is a fantastic TV for the sale price! The only downside is that it is a standard definition TV, and this will of course show. I also own the larger model that is 4K. Picture isn't impressive, but the built in FireTV OS is pretty nice. If you're use to using a regular fire tv or fire tv stick remote, this will mess with you. The buttons are sort of reversed, as the remove has regular TV controls built in as well (input, volume, channel, etc.). Overall, great purchase if you don't mind the standard definition.

Wish I never purchased this. Worked ok for one month and then echo interface stopped working. Tech support was terrible. Sent me a new remote and problem still exists. Also CNN app is worthless. I keep having to reinstall for it to work. Best Buy should be called Worst Buy if you have a problem. Because the TV is two months old, they will not allow me to exchange it. Terrible customer service to go along with a terrible tv. Would not but again.
