Visible damage to chest freezer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love our 3.5 Insignia chest freezer but we are fearful that it will stop working soon due to the visible damage on the outside of the freezer. Pictures attached were taken shortly after taking delivery directly from the Watertown, MA store.

gasket damaged from packing material
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.right front corner seal gasket deformed from packing material. Had to use hair dryer to try and bring it back to form. Not sure if it will seal properly. regardless, I shouldn't have to do repair jobs on a product I just took out of the box. Whoever though it would be a good idea to place a piece of plastic in between the gasket and freezer top needs to rethink that idea.

Damaged gasket
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked up at Best Buy and was so excited to use. The only problem is that when I unpacked the freezer, the gasket is so damaged that I can pass a pile of papers into the freezer through the gap. I tried to heat seal it with a hair dryer like the manual suggests, but it didn't work. You can't run a freezer with a giant gap like this, so I was unable to see if the rest of the unit works. Arrival times for the gaskets were longer than getting a refund and replacement for a new freezer.

Help with replacement delivery
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this freezer on 11/25/2023 and paid someone to pick it up. After a few months, the freezer stopped working and I lost hundreds in food. I need help with replacing the broked one. I cannot afford to pay to have someone go to pick it up again. CS will charge 60.00 for removing, but not bring a replacement. This is not good.

Stopped working after 7 months!!
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this 7 months ago and now it’s stopped working! I use this to freeze all of my breastmilk for my son, and now it’s all melted and gone BAD. hours of work and all of that food for my son is gone now. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS. I’m so upset that I spent the money on something that stop working so quickly after purchasing it

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this deep freezer bc I’m expecting a baby and needed more space, the box said excellent condition but obviously it was. Manager offered us a bad deal with 20% off, didn’t try to replace it or nothing. Poor awful customer service

So far great freezer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this freezer! It was easy to set up and it holds quite a bit of food. I purchased it because I don't want to constantly go to the supermarket to buy groceries during this CoVid pandemic. Everything stays frozen solid and I don't even have it on high. It's very quiet and doesn't take up too much space in my apartment. It's also not hard to move around when it's empty. I would definitely purchase this again and it was a great price for what I'm receiving.

Great little freezer at a great price!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This freezer holds a lot of food (3.5 cu ft) but doesn't take up much space in our garage. The big box home centers that we checked were out of all freezers but Best Buy had this one freezer left and we snatched it up at a great price ($149) and are glad we did. It's quiet and works great. After using this one, my wife and I both said if Best Buy had had another one just like it we would have purchased that one as well! We've had this now for 3 weeks and love it.

Works great, compact enogh for my small apartment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this freezer because I am disabled and do't get out much, and started having pre-prepared meals from an agency delivered. I get anywhere from 30-60 of these meals delivered every 2 weeks and there was just not enough room in my small apartment refrigerator/freezer for that volume of boxed meals. This freezer was a nice addition to my home! It is compact enough that it easily fit in my apartment, yet at least tripled my freezer space! It is also not so deep that I can't reach the food stored in the bottom, and I am only 5'1" tall. It is ideal for my situation and definitely large enough for my single person residence and my needs. I think a larger freezer would be better for families or if you planned on buying big, bulk orders or for large hunted game or a full side of beef, but I am just guessing. I would imagine this would accommodate maybe one butchered deer, but probably not much beyond that. It does have an adjustable temperature, but only says "max" and "min" and does not give actual temps. Does have power light. No interior light. Runs very quiet! Is actually pretty close to my bedroom and I have ever once heard it go into freeze cycle! Has a removable/adjustable basket which is great to pull out and out of the way when needing to reach the bottom inside. Great buy for smaller needs like I had!

Can Easily Add Wheels to It
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only been using this freezer for a week, so can't comment on reliability, but in terms of form factor, it's great. Compact and light enough (only about 60 lbs with all packaging) to easily load into my little Volkswagen hatchback. The packaging was also decent enough to where there was no damage to the freezer (although I picked it up at Best Buy versus having it shipped, so that might make all the difference in the world). I almost bought an upright freezer of comparable price and size to this Insignia one, but I'm very, very glad I didn't. In my opinion, at this compact size the main advantage of an upright (ie; food not getting buried at the bottom and general ease of finding what you want) isn't much of an advantage. But the big advantages of a chest freezer over an upright are still there. They're more energy-efficient; they're much better at retaining the cold (ie; less freezer burned food), particularly whenever you open the freezer or in the event of a power outage; they're much less messy when being manually defrosted (intentionally as part of maintenance or due to an undesirable event) since a chest freezer is essentially just one giant tub with a single drain hole (particularly important if you're not keeping your freezer in the garage); and they actually have more usable space. I can easily store 15" x 9.5" "Family Packs" of chicken breasts flat in this freezer, which I wouldn't be able to do with many upright freezers in this capacity and price range. Also, as mentioned in the title, it's actually very simple to add casters to this freezer if you have a drill. The feet of this freezer are just detachable steel plates held on by sheet metal screws. This allows you to unscrew them enough to safely drill holes in them to install some stem casters. You can either install the casters with a nut on the other side or use riv-nuts (aka; rivet nuts), which is what I did. The only other caveat is that there's only about 0.75" of clearance between the metal feet-plates and freezer sheet metal body, and all of the (cheap, sub-$15 for a set) stem castors I looked at had studs much longer than that. So you'd either need to use spacers (ie; a couple of nuts) to get the clearance you need or preferably cut down the studs on the casters to the appropriate size with an angle grinder or possibly Dremel. To go into my setup a bit more, I went with some 1.5" stem casters with M8 threads off of Amazon (1.5" is the wheel size, but the overall caster body height is about 2.5"). The casters have polyurethane wheels (so they don't scrape up your floor), have brakes, and have a load capacity of "75 lbs" per caster (I'm sure the actual load capacity is probably half that if I'm lucky, but it's still more weight than they'll ever have to bear in my case). Cost was around $14 for a set of four. For a much more durable setup, you could obviously spring for much bigger and/or more expensive casters, but these cheap 1.5" wheels fit the bill for me perfectly. Overall height of the freezer with the casters installed is 35" on the nose. That height is with the caster stems cut down so they clear the backside and thread in all of the way (if you use spacers instead, add about 1/2" to the overall freezer height). The overall height of the freezer without the casters (ie; as it came from the factory) is a smidge under 33". (Note that in the description, it says that this freezer is only 31" tall, which was inaccurate for the one I got.)

Great freezer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great freezer. Doesn’t take up much space but seems like it is way bigger inside. Runs very quiet, and keeps food nice and cold. I was looking at larger freezers but am so glad I went with this one! And you can’t beat the price. Box will fit in trunk area of a small SUV or any truck, so no need for delivery. Was light enough for me to carry by myself too, and I’m not the strongest person! Highly recommended!

Great freezer so far
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd chest freezer. I am now in a rental home and it is just me so I needed something small as I don't have much room. Most other brands were on back-order from all retailers so I was surprised to find this in stock, at a great price, and with great reviews. I couldn't afford both the extended warranty (which I had to use on my last freezer) and the delivery fee so hoped the weight was light enough to pick it up on my own. It was and I got it unpacked and it is working great. Extremely quiet and a decent amount of inside space for its size. My only complaint is that the little blue light which should show, at a glance, that it is operating does not go out when I turned the dial to off to check it out. It isn't worth trying to load it back up and drive 45 minutes away to exchange it so I will just check it daily. Time will tell how good it is as my other 2 freezers, different brands, both died at 2 years old

INSIGNIA 3.5 FT CHEST FREEZER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my freezer for a month and I love it. I ordered it online to pick up at the store. It arrived from the warehouse to the store in 2 days. Curb side pick up was fast and easy. The freezer arrived in perfect shape (no dents or issues) and has worked very well. It is very quiet and and has a dime size light to show that it's on. It's the perfect size for a small space and holds quite a lot of food. Perfect for 1 or 2 people. I would and have recommended it to my friends. I am very happy with it.

Love my mini freezer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been wanting one of these little freezers for awhile now so I decided to purchase this one. The store didn’t have the 5 cubic foot in stock so I purchased the 3.5. There is plenty of room in this freezer and I don’t have a problem with the temperature gauge. So far it is working fine and it fits perfect in the space I have. Love it!
