Solved my problem when my computer got a surge and had to replace the computer but needed the info on the hard drive. Acts like an external hard drive. Now I'm able to go back and forth from computer to hard drive. Will buy another soon.

I got this after a desktop computer died and replaced with a laptop. This gives me the ability to continue using the hard drive for data and, now, for a backup for the laptop. The only detriment is that it needs an external power source to run.

my hard drive would not boot up, talked with the Geek Squad and they gave me a quick, easy, (they did all the work) AND effective solution; not only could I recover critical data, I have an extra 2 gigs of memory!

I bought this to replace an older failed enclosure. It took all of 5 minutes to swap the hard drive between the old one and this one. I connected it to my Wii U and was off and running with no problems.

This hard drive enclosure is way better than the cheapos you can get on eBay or other mass market seller. It's a great tool to recycle old drives, or to get data from a removed drive onto your working hard drive.

Bought new computer. Rather than transfer data and delete old hard drive, simply bought this adapter which allowed me to plug old computer hard drive in and access my data. Can also use as backup for new desktop.

Works very good.. the biggest issue is that it gets really warm if its not in a well ventilated area.. would have been nice to have a tiny exhaust fan on the enclosure

Upgraded to a new computer and wanted to use my old drive as a USB connection. I plugged the drive into the enclosure and plugged it into the computer via the USB connection and it worked like a champ.

Needed a new HD case when a WD case quit functioning. Best Buy had this in stock when I needed it. Could have found a cheaper alternative from online vendors but I needed a case immediately to obtain the data on my drive.

Needed to transfer some files off the hard drive from a dead PC. This did the trick as expected - plugged the old hard drive in and hooked it up to another computer and got the files off. No complaints.

When old PC motherboard crashed options were to pay someone else over $100 or transfer data myself for a lot less. Took the second option. Great and easy to connect old hard drive to this box and now use it for backing up files.

With our desktop crash and burning, it was nice to have an option still to access the information on the old hard drive with out having to take the time and money to transfer. Thanks to the Geek Squad at Best Buy!

The Insignia 3.5 enclosure works like its supposed to. It was easy to setup and it doesnt over heat. No complaints.

My only complaint (and it's not that big aof a deal) is that the USB and power cords plug in into the front of the unit. Would be a nice if they were on the back and just the power switch and power LED on the front.

Got several of these for using previous hard drives form old computers. Always great to use especially when it cost half or more the cost of a Western Digital or Seagate full external pre-fab drive.

Great price and satisfactory product. Only concern I have is no venting to cool hard drive. Their are small heat sinks though.

Geek Squad was able to save all of my hard drive data from my old computer and place it on an external hard drive. We ordered a new computer, which we uploaded our data onto from the external hard drive.

Was looking for a way to connect a hard drive out of old computer without transferring all the files. This solved the problem can find old files now without having to put them all on my new computer.

I had and Apple Time Capsule go bad and I wanted to save the backups for all the computers in the house. This was the perfect solution. Hard drive saved and computers stayed backed up!

Being somewhat (a Lot!) old school. I still feel more comfortable controlling my own data storage. Additional drives fit the bill for me. This case houses 1 terabyte of storage that I can control. Great!
