The hard drive case was easy to use and install, I will go tis way for the rest of my hard drives. I have a laptop and by adding the external hard drive I have doubled my hard drive saving abilities.

I removed a 1TB 3.5" Hard drive from a new computer to use as extra storage after installing a SSD. This enclosure and SATA attachments fit the drive well, and it created a snug little external drive connected via USB 3.0 where I store everything that doesn't benefit from the SSD upgrade (documents, pictures I'm not modifying, video, etc.) while the programs and system runs through the SSD keeping my computer fast. The drive is well protected and the the form and functionality fit nicely... it looks like a clean, sturdy, understated part of an otherwise nondescript desktop computer. Price was lower than I expected for the quality.

Installation and setup were a breeze, I used an old WD drive I had laying around. It's fairly quick for an external compared to the 2.5 style ones I've used in the past.

This was needed to save a crashed drive. The USB 3.0 was crazy fast and swapping drives is a breeze. I now use it to store movies and play on my Roku devices. Great purchase!

I bought this for a drive that I can hook up to my Xbox One. It does the job well! Doesn't get hot and isn't very loud at all. It is also very easy to install the drive in the case.

My desk top broke and took the hard drive out. Put it in this case and works great. I think this was a great purchase. One thing I dont like about this is that its little bigger then I want.

This is a good product at a very reasonable price. It couldn't have been more simple to install the hard drive in to the enclosure. Works like a charm!

worked as expected, but is a bit larger than expected. it also needs to be plugged into the wall, which is a bit inconvenient. nevertheless does what it is supposed to do.

My boot partition of my old hard drive failed and I could not fix it. So I bought a new hard drive, and this enclosure. After installing Windows on the new drive, I put my old drive in the enclosure and I was able to copy all my data off the old drive onto the new one. Great time saver and it worked without any issues.

I've got of 4 of these now and they work great for USB external enclosures for back up to my NAS and as a shared USB disk on one of my routers. Cheap and work well.

This is a decent external drive case for nost people who do not need it for intensive tasks that should have a cooling fan. Works great and installs are easy.

It has the standard USB 3.0 plug and its waaaay sturdier than a mini USB plug. Have no problems with it and it works great with my seagate 4tb hdd.

My Gateway refused to even power up. I was looking at replacing the power supply but then aside from what was on the hard drive it was going to be a useless computer because it was too old to accept the new operating systems and I use a Mac for 90% of my computing needs. Geek Squad turned me on to this device and the issue was resolved. Works perfectly. Dirt easy to set up even for a non-geek. Saved everything and now have a lot more data storage using the old but completely usable hard drive from the Gateway and this Insignia unit.

I had a 1TB internal SATA hard drive that just wouldn't connect to my internal connections, but this hard drive enclosure made it so I could still use it. It transfers data pretty quickly over the USB 3.0 ports and has been pretty durable. It's also a great way to keep your old data if you have an old PC that you're going to get rid of. Just pull the drive, enclose it, and--voila-- you have an instant backup!

Lightning struck nearby and it fried the motherboard on my computer. I replaced the computer but I would never be able to replace all of the important case files, spreadsheets, documents, and picture files that were entombed on the old hard drive of my dead computer. Best Buy bailed me out when I purchased the Insignia Hard Drive Enclosure! With its 3.0 USB, it was blazing fast transferring the data into my new computer! Problem solved! What a relief! Now I am using it to perform external back ups of my data on a regular basis!

My HP Laptop would not come on. The screen was black. Wasn't sure if all was lost so took a chance on this to see if we could pull the info off my hard drive. For the cost of 39.99 it was worth the chance and cheaper than having the Geek department try. Fantastic it did work for us. Was worth every penny. Not sure if will use it again but will have it for those emergencies that may come up. This was the purpose for buying it to get information off old laptop and put over on new Acer one that I had to buy for replacement.

My computer crashed and it would not turn on at all. i was devastated because i could not retrieve the information or pictures on my computer. i did some research on the enclosure so i could retrieve the hard drive. Other reviews were positive so i went ahead and bought it. it's a great enclosure. easy to use and now i have an external hard drive that i can use with my new computer. it's a sturdy material and i would recommend it to anyone that needs to save their data.

I was having problems with my 500GB drive in my iMac and replaced it with a 1T drive, but I still needed to extract a few things off the 500GB drive. So I decided to try this enclosure. It was pretty simple to install my old drive in this case and get it connected. I fired it up after setting up my new internal drive and it came up without a problem. Now I have access to all of my data from the old drive.

Over the years, I've been through three computers and I'm on my fourth. The three I had previously died over time but the hard drives were fine. These hard drive enclosures are perfect to use with the old hard drives as external backups for your present computer. I put the hard drive in the enclosure, hook it up to the computer, open it, and save what I need or, if there's nothing there worth saving, format the old hard drive to delete everything and have a totally clean backup.
