Does the job, vastly overpriced (but that's Insignia brand of BBY for you as it nets them the most amount of profits. I would buy it again if I needed to.

It works but it takes some work with windows 8 to transfer information and it is a pain to move in and out hard drives to make transfer

This does not work with all HD however they don't explain it in the directions. I returned it.

Probably my fault, but turned out that I didn't need the SATA drive reader, rather another format.

Did what it needed to do, the quality was not the best even for something that costs $40

Needed to recover some data from an old hard drive, and this unit worked fine.

I usually shy away from "value brands" like insignia, but I figured- there's not MUCH that could go wrong here. And I was wrong. It stopped being detected shortly after purchase. And I know things fail, but when I called their customer service, I realized I wanted NO parts with this company. The woman stated their "website was under maintenance this month and driver software would be emailed to me ASAP". Then she returned after speaking to someone else I assume- and stated their was no driver software and wanted to leave the issue at the fault of computer settings. I told her I had the issue on multiple PCs and a macbook and I won't go into the rest of the nonsense she spewed. So I plan on going back to BB and having Geek Squad check it out and hopefully exchange it and that it works long enough for me to transfer my data and never look back at it,

It takes time to start working and also loading on the pc

I got this product a few months ago but now is broken. I do not know why No power is not on. I got to buy another one.

Bought this on the recommendation of the one and only floor employee I could find. Swore up and down that this would work with my existing external drive as a new enclosure. To my dismay, I waited beyond the return date for this product to actually connect it to my existing drive. The enclosures connections were off by about half inch and therefore wouldn't connect making it useless. I could no longer return it and it's still on a shelf in my office closet.

It was a bit pricey for what it does but I was in a bind so I bought it. It works .meh

Don't really care for this drive. it worked in a pinch

I have 2 of these and use them for storing movies from vhs tapes that I digitized and some dvds on the2TB hard drives I have in them.Easy to installed,but be careful when lining the hard drive up with the connector,and it will only go in one way.The screws are very small and a little hard to line up but needs all 4 to keep it aligned.A screwdriver,USB,power pack and the enclosure are in the kit and it is a USB3.0 connection but it also supports USB2.0. The enclosure has no vent holes but it does not overheat and I have played movies from it for 6hours steady and it is still cool to the touch.You can use this for storing or transferring any data.This a great product and has a reasonable price.

While a Best Buy presales consultant said the housing would not support 3TB, 7200 RPM, SATA-III drives, I purchased the unit anyway and would see what works out. Installed drive into enclosure, mounting screw locations for securing the drive to the interface were not aligned very well causing some stress on the metal support arms. Misalignment of the holes was about 1/2 screw diameter on one side and 1/4 diameter on the other side. LED indicators for power and drive activity are really on the wrong end of the housing (as noted in previous reviews) but placing them on the other end would cost more money. Unit works well but I'd like to see an additional support for setting the drive on its edge and not laying flat. The drive when setting on its edge, may be knocked over by something hitting the enclosure. Overall, this unit works well and I like the aluminum case to help dissipate heat.

This worked for a while, but as soon as the warranty period was over, it died. Frustrating.

Delivery faster than expected. The Enclosure is slimmer than I thought , Nice looking and do the job well. Easy to install.

I have been using these types of enclosures for many years as a Computer Scientist and all have worked well. The others have worn out through continued usage. Wanted to try these. Had picked up two and they are working extremely well. Both are holding 8 TB drives and have been up and running full time 2 weeks now - no loss or problems. Got another 8 TB and 4 TB for another buy now - works great off the 3 USBs ports.

Item worked fine for what I needed it for. I used it to use an an enclosure for my hard drive to an older desktop computer I had. I do not know how well this would function if you wanted to use the hard drive often. I don't use mine often and have it put away in a desk. It is just for storage. It was way overpriced I thought for being a metal case and nothing more.
