Easy to use. Hard drive installed easily, and my laptop recognized it.

This is the second one of these I purchased, and will not be the last. I was originally skeptical of the box, as I have had less than great luck with these, but it has been everything it SHOULD be. High quality, compact, excellent connection and USB-3 cable. Starts fast and shuts down quick. I will definitely buy several more of these.

I have two old desktops and four laptops that I've been meaning to wipe and take to donation spot. Decided to try one of these hard drive enclosures and it works great. Able to move important files to new PC and use as a backup. On my way to Best Buy to get several more to complete my task and finally be free of all these space-snatchers..

I purchased this to find out if my hard drive still worked and, if so, to retrieve files and save them to my backup. It is so easy to use and built really well for the price. Lo and behold, my drive still functions. I was able to save all important files/docs from this drive and easily pull and download saved programs to my new Seagate drive. This has saved me one huge headache.

I have purchased 3 so far and will get more to convert old internal drives to external. USB 3.0 provides fast data transport for archiving files. Am replacing smaller internal drives with larger ones and these cases help me avoid copying all of that data over to new drives and yet keeps it available for fast recovery when needed.

Great little enclosure for fast and easy access to a hard drive that isn't needed or is failing. I purchased this to hopefully recover data off of a drive that was failing and to my surprise it worked just fine in the enclosure and there was nothing to install. Its true plug and play and I am very happy with the slim metal design.

I'm clearing out several old computers (business and commerical). It is easy to operate and I saved everything I wanted on all the computers. I was able to keep the files I want from all of the computers and keep that information close at hand and very accessable.

Great case for the money. Comes with mounting screws and a screw driver tho the screws didn't fit the hard drive very well and the screw driver didn't fit the included screws very well so I ended up throwing them away and I used the screws that came with the drive I installed into this case and my own driver. That's the only trouble I had with it!

Hard drive became corrupted and I wasn't able to get to any info on it. Computer wouldn't recognize the hard drive at all. I bought this Insignia hard drive enclosure, inserted my hard drive, plugged it in and Viola... All of my data was there... Easy set-up, took all of 5 minutes to get it up and running.

Product worked as expected. Set up was easy with no fuss.

I had an old SATA drive I wanted to move from my old computer to another computer, that was not recognized by my desktop computer's internal SATA cable connections. I use this second harddrive to store photos and general spreadsheet files. This enclosure worked perfectly to connect to this harddrive to my computer via a USB connection. As a bonus, I can carry this drive from computer to another computer with a USB port. Speed is adequate (my computer is only 2.1 USB speed). The enclosure needs a power supply (included) to operate, which is fine for my desktop that is sitting on a desk. The kit included a small screwdriver to assemble the drive in the enclosure. I am happy with the product, and would recommend this to others. Bottom line is it works.

Installing the drive into the enclosure is very easy if you understand how to work a #2 Philips head screwdriver. Works great, no issues. Highly recommend. Great for transferring data or using extra serial HDD's for data storage.

I purchased this along with a 1TB HDD for use as external backup. The enclosure comes with a mini philips head screwdriver, so if you are like me and don't have a set of PC sized tools, you need not worry! It took mere minutes to put this together and set it up. Should be a very easy setup for both beginners and pros!

Needed to get pictures off of a hard drive and I didn't know the best way. Went to geek squad to inquire about them doing it and she showed me this. Didn't know something like this existed but it does exactly what I need it to. Now my pictures are both safely stored and easily accessible

My old computer's power died and I was one of those stupid people that forgot to backup the data! I was able to pull the hard drive from the old computer and use it as an external hard drive on my new computer! I am so excited! I now have all of my old files and a way to backup a lot more than I ever imagined!

I didn't want to "drill a hole" in my old hard drive when I replaced by HP pavilion PC, so I bought this enclosure and got a made to order offline hard drive for storing my old data archives. Works exactly as I'd expected. Simple install and it powered up and works very well.

Bought this to turn a Hard drive I pulled out of a PC into an External drive. So far setting it up was fine & connecting to PC works great, but the enclosure does get a little hot after awhile, probably could have made it with some vents for air circulation. Otherwise good product

Very happy with this unit. Worked first time out of the box. No problem with my old Windows XP computers or my newer units running Windows 7 recognizing the drive. This is a great way to turn a spare hard drive into a useful external USB drive. A little pricy at $40, but it is a solid unit. I would buy one again.
