My wife had an internal drive that was a backup for a computer that died. She wanted me to open her new computer and install the drive so she could get some files off of the drive. Putting it in this enclosure and connecting it via USB was much easier and faster. Worked great.

Great little enclosure. When my 3TB Segate Cloud Central lost all my data after mistaken pushing the reset button on the bottom which didn't know it cleared all the data off, I moved the drive to one of these and use it for backup purchases and connect to both a Windows partition and mac partition.

Box recommended by Tech Trouble shooter who said my old drive was fine and not the problem with computer (it was motherboard). This box allowed me to easily install my old drive and plug into new computer so I could transfer all data as needed and can continue to use it as backup external HD.

I had to try a couple old internal hard drives before I found one that was accessible. Now I can reuse that hard drive as an external drive. The kit came with all cables and was easy to install. I would recommend to anyone. If needed I can take the drive out and replace with another drive

This product works well with my desktop hard drive, but I couldn't actually get the board and hard drive to fit into the enclosure while they were connected. Connecting the hard drive to the board and using them without putting them into the enclosure works fine though.

My mother board died. Bought the ATA Hard Drive Enclosure, removed my hard drive (two screws inside the case), inserted my old HD in the case, plugged in the power cord, plugged in the USB cord to new computer, and all my files were there/accessible! Great, simple to use product.

Works as expected but has a couple design issues. The bottom if flat but the unit can be tipped over easily. I wish it came with some sort of support that could be snapped on. Secondly, a standard size 3.5 inch desktop drive fits very loosely inside the case and the drive rattles around inside the case.. The mounting if flimsy and cannot adequately support the weight of the disk. There is no guide inside the case to support the drive. It simply hangs from the flimsy bracket attached to the end. I ended up making a spacer to compensate. Not bad for the money but not really great either.

This worked fine with my existing hard drive, now i have extra storage. And i can swap drives for even more storage options, but that's a bit inconvenient and this enclosure wasn't really made for constantly swapping out drives, still that's what i'm doing.

I love the fact that this device goes to USB 3.0. I have some serious copy speed when plugged into a USB 3.0. The device itself is 5 stars. I wish the price was about $10 less though as online and specialty stores have this thing covered. In a pinch though, Best Buy is great.

I bought this in-store for my PS4 HDD upgrade. I paid $40 for this unit (was in a rush) much could've gotten elsewhere but glad I picked this up. It's pretty solid on loading my games. I have about 8 full sized games and buffer is minimal through this usb 3.0

Couldn't be easier to install my hard drive and use. Motherboard failed on the old pc and needed my info so i bought this, did the install, transferred my files and re-formatted the hard drive. Now i have a backup drive to boot. (no pun intended)

This Insignia enclosure is great for protecting your hard drive. It is easy to set up with an on and off switch and activity light on the side. Comes with an AC for power source as well.

Simple and quick to bring into service. I plugged my old hard drive, which had stopped working, into this enclosure and it immediately was working again. Thought all my old photos were gone but now I've got 'em back.

Very easy to install. Just make sure that you know what ATA stands for! There were no more on the store shelf ( which should tell you how popular this item is, ) but the store shipped it to my house. A totally positive experience.

Got this enclosure and tried several different older HD I had left from previous PCs. Every one of them was recognized and worked fine. Now have several options for additional storage and back-up. Well worth the price.

Upgrading to some larger capacity hard drives, so I've got extra drives sitting around. So, decided to buy a couple of these enclosures to put the drives to use as data backup/storage drives. Good performance. No issues.

I lost one of my external HDD's power supply so I went out and picked up this enclosure. It was so easy to remove the HDD from old external and hook it up to this enclosure. Within a fee miniyes i was back up and running.

My new SonyA600 is AWESOME. We took a nine day cruise in the Ned sea and then a week in South Africa, partly on safari. The camera is great, easy to use and was a lot of fun. I changed lens easily, soomed, recorded etc. Great camera

the enclodure was easy to set up, the harddrive fit right in and the connections worked well. Since this unit has its own power supply, a USB power supply was not needed. A very handy and reasonable device for testing and recovering hard drives....

It was amazingly simple to install my old hard drive into the Insignia™ Hard Drive Enclosure. We now use it to backup all of our files, photos, music, etc. Up to now, it has been completely reliable!
