My son needed this for his room. The size is great. He likes that the freezer area has it's own door. He doesn't have to worry about items freezing when he doesn't want them frozen. He can get so much more in this mini fridge then he could in his old one.

Large Mini-Refrigerator at a Low Price

Got this mini refrigerator during a Flash Sale at the cost of $199 before taxes. Larger than a typical mini-refrigerator it cooled down pretty fast upon turning on. The freezer reached -5 degrees at the maximum setting and 35 degrees in the refrigerator section when empty. There is little to no evaporator action to control moister levels inside the refrigerator so condensation can get out of control and frost/ de-icing have to be routine in maintenance and in consideration of storing low moister foods such as bread. The refrigerator’s leveling legs were a pain as they easily screw off at a height that barely clear a 3/4 inch drip pan. The noise levels are slightly lower than a typical mini refrigerator. For the space, noise level, cooling ability and price point, it’s a good product.

I chose in store pickup so I could check the unit for dents before leaving the store. Thankfully, this unit had no damage. BTW, receiving a damaged product is NOT a reason to ding rating just because someone didn't handle the package properly. That is a SHIPPING complaint, NOT a product complaint. We purchased this little gem as a bridge between our full size fridge which just died, until out new full size fridge on a container ship stops playing Tetris in the Suez on its way to us. Simple, no frills, quiet. No icemaker? We buy a bag of ice for drinks and keep that in a coleman lunch cooler instead of making cubes in the freezer. YMMV. Very nice to have a grown up mini fridge with a separate freezer on top instead of the juvenile mini fridge cube that has that wacky useless "built in " freezer shelf thingy. (same footprint by the way, this unit is just taller) This doesn't work like a fancy fridge, I.E. it doesn't circulate cold air with a fan, but the refrigerant does its job by keeping the interior compartment walls cold instead. You WILL need to mind condensation potential of icing over, even in the fridge compartment if you are not careful. This unit will happily be relegated to the man cave as soon as the new full size fridge arrives. Pro tips: 1) Let the unit stand up straight a few hours to give the coolant a chance to settle before plugging it in immediately, which would destroy it. 2) Let it stay plugged in for several hours to cool the interior properly BEFORE putting your groceries inside so it doesn't have to struggle to get your stuff cold from the get-go. 3) Keep it shut as much as possible so it doesn't have a chance to accumulate moisture which freezes on the back and sides of the compartment. 4) Keeping some air space between your groceries instead of jamming it full of groceries actually allows it to cool more efficiently.

Nothing bad to say about this: the size is really good, the price was good; it keeps everything cool; it looks good. I had a rather small space and an older, smaller fridge which didn't have enough space. This one solved my issues. It holds quite a few bottles of water. It is high enough to place a coffee maker on at a good height. The freezer makes ice in the included ice tray. All is good so far. I have only had it in use for about 3 weeks, though.

Overall, it is hard to complain about a cheap minifridge, but I will say that depending on the ambient humidity, you may get some sweating in the fridge or freezer. It does not appear to leak, just opening and closing it a lot causes some minor buildup. I noticed the fridge area has more droplets in it than the freezer. This is most likely because I open the fridge way more than the freezer. Aside from that, this is a great minifridge! It is very quiet, holds just the right amount of stuff for my lunches and is not too bulky. I like the finish on it as well. It is not real stainless steel, just a finish, but it means that fingerprints don't show up on it either.

Perfect drink fridge in the garage. Small enough that it’s out of the way. I have all my sparkling waters (plastic Perrier), white wine bottles, can drinks in the fridge. Top is big enough to hold a few pints of ice cream and some freezer packs.

I live alone (except for my cat) and I bought this in an emergency after the thirty- or forty-year-old refrigerator that came with my apartment stopped working, and building management failed to respond quickly. I don't need a huge refrigerator since I don't buy a great deal of food at any one time (it goes bad too quickly) and this was about the biggest one that Best Buy had available at the time I needed one. I've had it now for a little less than a year and it has worked out. Truth be told, I need most of the space to refrigerate photographic film, so it has pretty much fulfilled that need in addition to holding what little food I purchase each week. It could be a tad bigger for my use, but I can't complain about it. I doubt that it's big enough for two people on average.

Inconsistent temp, very versatile and attractive

I purchased this mini fridge to replace a 20-year-old Frigidaire that had been a real champ. This Insignia model has lots of pros. It's slightly bigger than most of the separate freezer models, so it holds more food. It has far more adjustment to the fridge shelves than many others available today. It's basically perfect-sized. It also looks really nice; sometimes I think it looks better than my kitchen fridge! Unfortunately, it has one major con: it doesn't hold a consistent temp! I had to turn the dial past the coldest setting to get it to consistently cool below 40 degrees, but there's a massive temp fluctuation range, from 43 degrees to 26 degrees. Tiny ice lines form on the back wall of the fridge, but that's a mini fridge for you--that doesn't both me. It really though should keep a more consistent temp. 43 is warm enough to spoil food, and 26 is cold enough to freeze my fresh hamburger or turn my sodas into explosives. That range is too big. 30-40 would be okay for a mini fridge, but I'm afraid to turn the dial colder because it might freeze everything. My fridge did come with a baby-carrot-sized dent in the side like everyone else's has. I don't blame Insignia for that, and it did not affect my star rating. Best Buy should be more careful with these units. They loaded my box hole side down so that I wouldn't notice. Overall I'd recommend this product. Most mini fridges today have the same problems in reviews... Inconsistent temps, frost in the fridge, etc. This one holds more, has more adjustment to the shelves, looks nice... It's a winner, but the bar today for mini fridges isn't as high as it used to be.

I am so pleased with my purchase. This is a great mini fridge!! It has been a lifesaver. I have been using this for almost a month until my regular fridge is fixed. It freezes great and actually has a lot of room for a little fridge. After plugging it in it took no time at all, within a couple of hours until I was able to start using it. I wasn’t sure about the 1 temp setting for both the fridge and the freezer. But follow the directions and you can’t go wrong. Make sure you do adjust temp back down per instructions cause the contents in the fridge will freeze towards the back if left too high. Just FYI. It’s a quiet fridge, I have it sitting in my dinning room temporarily. Don’t hesitate if you aren’t sure. It’s been great for me!!!

I’ve been really impressed with this Insignia mini fridge! It’s the perfect size for a small space. The 4.3 cu. ft. capacity gives me more room than I expected, and I like that it has a separate top freezer instead of just a tiny compartment. It cools quickly and keeps a steady temperature, plus being ENERGY STAR certified makes me feel better about the electricity bill. The stainless steel finish looks sleek and blends in well with my other appliances. Overall, it’s a solid little fridge that feels dependable and practical for everyday use.

This little fridge has been super handy for me and my son. It’s the right size to keep drinks, snacks, and a few groceries without taking up too much room. I like that it cools quickly and stays consistent, and it’s pretty quiet too, which is a big plus. It’s been really convenient having it around, especially for quick access to things without always going to the main fridge. Honestly, I’m really happy with it and would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a reliable mini fridge for personal use.

Day 1 after plugging it up, formed ice beads on the inside back of refrigerator... I was expecting problems, but nothing else happened and it's worked fine daily. I have a tiny apt, so this is the only fridge and holds LOTS of stuff (right now, I have the fridge packed with at least 8 different full-size containers of condiments, a liter of coke, 2 lbs. butter, a 1/2 pint heavy whipping cream, jar of sauerkraut, and a couple of 2-cup size containers of left-overs, a 3-lb. pack of sausage, and a lb. package of bacon, and in the crisper I have a lb. of yellow squash, 3 green bell peppers and a pear; in the top freezer section, I have 3lbs. chicken, 3 lb. pork tenderloin, flat-sliced 1-serving Hormel ham, a pack of jumbo hotdogs, 5 (12 oz) bags of frozen bags of veggies, and 3 full-size ice trays... So, yeah, this mini-fridge holds a LOT of stuff and keeps it all cold in the bottom half and frozen in the top half. It's a good little fridge. For the price, I am super-pleased & would buy it again.
