Ok fridge with a ‘warm’ freezer

The Insignia 4.5cu ft mini fridge was well packed and delivered with no damage. The stainless finish looks good. It's a little bigger than a ‘typical’ minifridge, this Insignia has a separate freezer with its own door. The front corner feet on the bottom are adjustable so you can level the fridge on uneven floors. After the recommended 4hr wait time before powering up, I plugged the unit in and loaded it up with beverages for the garage. I also put a fridge thermometer in there and it didn’t take long for the fridge to cool down to about 34deg. Another thing I did notice, or should I say didn’t notice, was noise. The compressor runs quiet and I couldn’t even tell when it was running. Not really a prerequisite for my use in the garage, but if you were going to use this in a dorm room or bedroom you shouldn’t hear it. One important note from the manual, this fridge is meant to be installed freestanding in the open and requires 5” open space on the rear and sides. You can’t push it up tight against the wall and tight between cabinets like they are in many kitchens. It comes with the hardware to reverse the door swing if needed and there is interior lighting to help find your favorite drinks. A couple other notes, the freezer door has an extra ‘latch’ when closing. Hard to explain but when closing the fridge door, it pushes closed with the same force until the magnetic seals grab and hold the door shut. With the freezer, right before the door is closed, there is an extra ‘catch’ that requires a little extra force to get past before the magnetic seals close. Not a deal breaker by any means, just something to be aware of. The lowest glass shelf (above the crisper drawer) has nothing holding it back and keeping it from sliding out the front. If you have oversized items in the crisper drawer, the glass shelf could pull out with the drawer. All the other glass shelves are locked in place. One last note. After running the fridge for a couple weeks, we noticed the carton of ice cream in the freezer was soft. I put a fridge/freezer thermometer in the freezer for a few days, checked it a few times and found it between 15 and 25 degrees and the ice cream was still soft despite the thermostat being turned up colder than the 3 mark, and the fridge reading around 34 every time I checked. Definitely not as cold as the freezer in our kitchen which runs at 0 deg F. Technically the freezer is at freezing temperatures but not as cold as I think it should be. Despite these couple quirks this Insignia 4.5cu ft fridge fits well at its price point and gets 4 stars (deducting 1 for the soft ice cream).

    Keeps things Ice Cold

The Insignia 4.5 Cu. Ft. Mini fridge is everything you'd want from a small office, to dorm room fridge. It weighs roughly 70lbs and was easy enjoy for me to move in and get situated. Through my testing with it I was able to test its functionality through various states, in my office, and even put it in the garage to test how it would handle the southern humidity and heat. The office test was very good, kept every thing very cold took about 3 hrs. for drinks to get to an ice cold temperature. Snacks stayed right temperature. Freezer took about 7 hours to get that constant ice cold temp. I used ice cream for this test for the softness to hardness. In the garage, temperature outside reached 81 degrees so my garage hovered around 97-99 degrees. The fridge did alright to keep up with the heat in the garage, but as this isn't truly intended for the southern heat in garages I say the inner workings held up very well. Overall, this fridge is great for everyday use in the office to keep the lunches cold, and drinks ice cold. If you need it for a dorm room or even a studio apartment, this would be very economical choice and fit the need.

I love this mini fridge. I have owned other mini fridges in the past, however, none with a top freezer. My family and I were able to store a 13lb turkey in the fridge until we were able to cook it for the holiday. Also, like that when you open the door, to the right, your able to store additional items. We took it upon our selves to place milk, seltzer waters, and sodas to the right and also our butter. On the shelfs we placed containers of salad, and other foods let overs. In the bottom tray we placed some of our fruits. The freezer does a great job with freezing ice cream. Our family tends to like to snack on icecream bars, sandwiches, and more. I love the height of this mini fridge. The outside exterior has a clean slinder look. It is not bulky. The refrigerator is also not too heavy, as I had been wondering if it would be difficult to position in the space that we placed it yet. I forgot to mention that the refrigerator does have lights inside so that you can see at night what your looking for. Overall I am greatly pleased and glad to test this product. I highly recommend this fridge if your looking for something for your apartment, home, college dorm, etc. Pros: Not Heavy Can store a lot of items Multiple spaces to place items Slim and not Bulky Cons: None at this time and yes I would recommend to a friend. I like the Insignia brands.

After taking the time to look for the right size and price. I’m disappointed , too freezer is just cold bottom has to be on 3 to be cold but the inside back panel is full of ice so if I lower the temperature it gets hot . I have to return it.

For a mini fridge, this unit delivers surprisingly generous storage. The refrigerator section features three shelves and a crisper drawer that keeps produce fresh. The door also includes storage racks for bottles and condiments. You'll find room for several days' worth of groceries, multiple beverage containers, and meal prep items without feeling cramped. Unlike many compact fridges with barely functional "ice box" compartments, this Insignia model features a true separate freezer with its own door and is nicely sized for ice trays and a few frozen items. Having the freezer door as its own separate compartment is a much better design that maintains more consistent temperatures than the interior ice-box style found in cheaper models. The refrigerator is built with reversible doors, allowing you to configure them to open from right to left instead of left to right depending on your space. This is a nice touch for fitting the unit into different room layouts. However, there's one design quirk worth noting: while the main refrigerator door has a handle, the top freezer door lacks one. You'll need to grip the door edge to open it. The refrigerator features LED lighting, and the fridge compartment has an interior light for spotting exactly what you need inside. The LED is nice and bright, making it easy to find items even in dim rooms. However, one area for improvement is that they could add a light to the freezer compartment. The thermostat dial is large and clearly visible, making temperature adjustments simple. The unit features a temperature dial ranging from 0 to 3+ allowing you to dial in your preferred cooling level without squinting at tiny markings. The freezer stays really cold, and the fridge keeps everything at a uniform temperature. The unit is also ENERGY STAR certified, which should help keep electricity costs manageable. And measuring about 47 inches tall by 18.5 inches wide, it's a manageable size for bedrooms, dorm rooms, offices etc.
