Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the 40" Class LED HDTV's excellent picture quality and reasonable price. Many are pleased with the easy setup process, while gamers appreciate its suitability for gaming consoles. However, some customers have concerns about the TV's smart features, low volume, remote control issues, short lifespan, and washed-out colors.

TV is great for what it is with a small complaint.

I'll cut it short. The TV itself is great for what it is. I bought it to use as a computer monitor for my 2nd / VR Computer. 1080p 60hz on an hdmi is more than good enough. The delay isn't too shabby either. Otherwise it's about what you would expect out of a flatscreen these days. good picture quality, and bad speakers as usual. So my only real complaint is every time it is turned off, for any given amount of time, and turned on again it doesnt stay on the same input that it was on and Reverts all Picture settings back to default. sets picture mode back to "Energy Saving" (or Vivid if you turn that setting on) instead of my Custom setting and turns overscan back on. i can deal with the picture mode but that overscan mode doesnt have a button on the remote for it so its always a a trip back through the menu to turn it off every day. To be honest i really wish the Overscan feature on modern TV's didn't exist. I see no reason why this is even needed because typically if you want to achieve the same thing you can just turn you picture mode to "zoom". It's not really a big deal, just a small headache to not be able to "set and forget" so to speak. Also a side note. after exchanging the first one to get a second one that does the exact same thing. i called Insignia support and halfway through the first sentence on something to try, they hung up on me. Makes me question why i even bothered to try. i already had a feeling i was just gonna get the old generic spreadsheet set of answers all these so called support lines have these days.

Relocated for the winter and needed a TV. Price (139) was a knock-out. At its finest with an HD indoor antenna performs admirably. Only negative is lack of adjustments on remote. Very clear with vibrant colors and tints. Sound is good but not extremely loud.

Bought this for the bedroom and couldn't be happier. Wall mounted, the picture is excellent as is the sound! Features are easy to use. Insignia TVs are well made and last. TV has clean lines and looks like a more expensive TV.

    Just below average

I got this TV on a Black Friday sale. Didn't "need" it, but it was a great price. Got it home and was disappointed from the moment I turned it on. Just to be clear: I am not an audiovisualphile that needs the best of the best image and to see individual strands of hair and that needs to hear the leaves bristle. Just an average user. This units menu system is bare min in and of itself and also only allows for minimal adjustment to the picture and sound. Sound is poor IMO. Volume, most of the time, too low then jumps jump up to super loud. On par with clock radios and cheap bluetooth speakers. Picture quality is what made me return it. For average user content (Cable tv via hdmi, dvd via rca) the image is dark and soft even after adjustment. Tried to like it for a week and could not handle it. But it did state clearly on the box "60hz" refresh rate. For sports and high speed action, this unit shows a ton of ghosting and blur. No go for me. I tried everything from settings to different content and still the same. It did perform OK for my kids xbox sessions. So if you go for this unit: Pros - OK for gaming and maybe large pc display for office applications and multimedia presentations. Just below average. Con - poop audio. Ghosting and blur in fast action (sports)

    Not a true 1080

Nice TV, but not truly 1080. It's a 720p upscaled to 1080. It will detect as 1080 by streaming devices but it's not a true 1080. Good picture but just understand what you're actually buying.

I love the tv and its sleek figure the picture looks great and its easy to set up. The price is exceptional. The only problem is the sound is extremely low. Beware when buying. I had to purchase an additional sound bar and spend more money. So be prepared to return or spend more money on it because of the volume

This is a great TV for casual viewing like in a bedroom. I was surprised at how good it looked and sounded for the price. It's certainly not as good as the more expensive models but it's plenty good for us and as Amazon Prime members it integrates nicely with our other smart home devices.

I bought this to replace my Vizio 32" which was at least 15 years old. If this lasts half that long I'll be happy. If it lasts more than a year I'll rate it 5 stars. It showed up in 2 days as predicted and the UPS guy was very nice and knocked on the door to make sure I got it and it wasn't porchnapped :).

Hard to believe I paid $149 for a 40 inch TV. The display is sharp and vibrant. The sound is surprisingly rich. Overall, you can't go wrong with this TV at this price point.

I have had this TV for 2 years and it's going strong and I've played games on it watched endless movie marathons and more. Overall it's great. Sound is decent. Always better to have a surround sound system or even a decent sound bar would be great.
