Enjoy Local OTA & Stream Popular Internet TV

After two weeks of enjoying this Insignia LED Smart 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition, I am convinced this is primarily designed for the ever-increasing abundance of 'cord-cutters', who still have a generous-data Internet connection. This particular TV offers outstanding local OTA TV in 1080-I and 4K UHD with numerous Internet content found mostly only on 'streaming-devices', which require additional hardware costs. Amazon's Fire TV has cleverly combined these operations for you. For its price-point this Insignia TV has loads of features, which are usually found on much more expensive units. As a long-time cable-cutter I particularly enjoyed the enhanced TV channel guide. This on-board guide gives you pictorial graphics of the TV shows available, presents an informative narrative of that specific presentation, and allows you to move forward in time to see the future available entertainment offerings, too. The built-in AI (artificial intelligence) assembles my most frequented local channels, at the time, and displays them in sequence when I access the channel guide. A fascinating feature is the ability to rewind, stop, and, or, fast forward your live TV, or streaming by ten seconds either way . . . . Love it. From a 'Smart-TV' standpoint I have been able to access my e-mail account, search the Internet using the 'Silk' Browser, You-Tube, ESPN, and various other popular Internet sites. I can also access my on-line banking, however, my concern is what virus protection does Insignia or Silk, or FireFox Browsers offer? I do not know of any other TV Internet operation that allows the user to access both Netflix and Hulu on the same platform. Plus, the Wi-Fi connection to your router can be 5.0 GHz or 2.0 GHz, which ever you choose to configure it that way. How cool is that? What I Like About Insignia LED Smart 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition: ** Simple Remote – Very Intuitive with Voice Actuation. You need an Amazon account to fully take advantage of the myriad features, but you can simply enable the voice command and tell the remote what you want to do. It also allows you to stop live TV or videos and move them forward or backwards. It will sync with Amazon's Alexa or Echo, if you have one in the same room to find whatever your heart desires. ** HD Picture Quality - 4K Ultra HD picture quality with over 8 million pixels for stunning clarity, deep contrast and vivid colors. For its price-point the picture quality is amazing. ** Realistic Sound – Most TV's this size have chinnsy sounding speakers – this TV delivers a full DTS TruSurround and Dolby audio at 8 watts each speaker – they are very good, especially, if you adjust the Sound Settings to 'Standard', Bass at Level 16, and Treble at 8 - turn the main volume control to a moderate level (no higher then 18) to avoid distortion. My TV shows, movie, video sounds, and Spotify, Pandora, etc., produce full, rich, mid-range frequencies with clear voice. You can also add a sound bar or other external speakers through the HDMI-ARC port, which gives you the option to enable or disable the TV speakers. ** Acceleration and Operation - Quad-core CPU/Multi-core GPU – Very responsive to OTA and Pay TV Services, Downloaded Apps, and or Web Browser Bookmarks. Internet browsing is surprisingly fast. ** 3 HDMI Inputs – For your home theater connections to Blue Ray Video Players, TV Sound Bar Systems, Gaming Console, Satellite Receivers, Cable Box, or other electronic devices. ** One USB Input – I connected a compatible keyboard to my Fire TV for enhanced navigation through all of the various entertainment options, and, it also allows me to send e-mails quickly. I can also connect my digital camera to display selected photos to share with my friends and family. ** Web Browsers – Amazon Silk or Firefox. You can use both and bookmark your favorite websites, and, or download additional Apps to the numerous featured Apps. You can always remove or delete featured, and, or downloaded Apps at any time. ** Personalized Viewing Settings – I can adjust picture settings for each of my connected devices - Blue Ray Player and Gaming Console. Since I am a cable-cutter, I can also designate my favorite TV channels in my on-line TV Guide. If you are not experienced with Amazon's Fire TV platform you will be pleased that the learning curve is very minimal and simple. Another plus is that software updates are automatic so the software on your TV and remote is always the latest. WooHoo! I highly recommend the purchase of this Insignia LED Smart 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition. It is truly both an entertainment hub and Smart TV with loads of features and Apps. Christmas is just around the corner – this Insignia Fire TV would make a great gift for that special family member or friend. You will not be disappointed.

Great economical TV option for Cordcutters

This TV exceeded my expectation based on the price. It is amazing what you can get now for a TV under $400. This is perfect for cord cutters or anyone else. Set up – The product came well packaged. The box contained the TV, remote, batteries and legs. This TV was replacing an old 42 inch plasma that is wall mounted. Attaching it to the wall mount was simple. This TV uses the VESA 200mm x 200mm standard. After you connect to your wifi (I had no issues connecting to the 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz – it is connected to 5ghz as there is less traffic), it will download and install an update for the TV and the remote. Overall this was about 5 minutes. There is also the ability to connect via Ethernet. Next you are prompted for the full or basic Amazon experience. If you are already an Amazon customer, select the full experience. You can then scan for channels. I use OTA and it picked up the expected 34 channels in my area with no issues. More comments on OTA below. I tried the different picture modes (Standard, Movie, Dynamic and Natural) and found Natural the best for my liking. I played with the sound setting a little to fit how I like the sound to be. There are many adjustments available for both picture and sound. You can adjust the picture setting for each video source. OTA – The TV accurately found the channels available in my area. The TV guide was created and is accurate. A great bonus! You can pause, rewind and FF live TV. Another bonus! This TV is great for OTA viewing. Home network streaming – I downloaded VLC for Fire TV. After opening VLC, I select the home network option and saw HDHomerun and Serviio as expected. Once I selected Serviio, all of my folders were displayed for me to move through and select the files I want to watch. I record OTA shows on my computer and convert to MKV (after removing commercials of course). There was no issue playing my content. I found the fast forward in 10 second steps to work very well. Streaming using the other apps operated as expected. I found navigating through the menus to be quick and crisp. Amazon Video and Netflix operated as expected. 4K – I tried this using Netflix and the picture was great! The TV supports HDR10. To the best of my knowledge, it does not currently support Dolby Vision. Sound - As this is mounted on the wall, the downfiring speakers sounded MUCH better than the TV it replaced. I was surprised how good the sound quality is. It also has digital optical out so you can add a soundbar to enhance the sound if you like. The TV does support DTS TruSurround. Remote – For those of us that have used Amazon devices in the past, this will be a very easy transition for you. If you are not, it is very intuitive to use. Also, the voice commands work very well once you know how to word your phrases. They provide some tips when you are setting up the TV. Conclusion – There are definitely better TV’s out there with better features but it will cost you more money. For someone on a budget, you will find it hard to beat this TV. Especially if you are already an Amazon customer. As a cordcutter myself for more than 4 years, I really appreciate the features provided on this TV. As for the Amazon/Roku user interface debate, I will leave that to others. I find you get used to either of them as I have both. With Amazon Fire OS you can side-load which is a HUGE benefit. Especially for those other app fans out there. Last thought - I believe the Insignia Fire TV's are made by Toshiba for Best Buy if this matters to anyone.

    This TV is Smart!

Nowadays many TV's in this price range are called "Smart" when in reality all they do is provide Wifi and a handful of apps so that you can stream online content. I'd call them connected Tv's. This Insignia Smart TV with HDR and Fire TV is the definition of Smart TV. It comes preinstalled with a lot of useful apps and there is a plethora of apps you can download and add to your TV. I say that this TV is Smart because of Alexa and Fire TV. You can control your TV by speaking into the microphone on the control. You can use it to search for content online, to switch between your HDMI ports, or to an installed application. There was only a couple of things Alexa couldn't do on the tv when prompted. I imagine that this TV will get updates with Fire TV to add even more possibilities. It really is pretty awesome to be able to control your TV using only your voice. No need to type out phrases using only a directional pad. Alexa and Fire TV are also quite snappy. The UI loads quickly between apps and inputs. Also the voice commands are heard accurately and only studder when you give it a command that it isnt programmed to do. I am very impressed with the function. Honestly, it is the quickest, smartest TV interface I have ever used. Picture quality on the TV is great. 4k content streams smoothly and looks great at this price point. It also has pretty good viewing angles and I did not notice any light bleed on my unit. Blacks are nice and contrasty and colors are crisp and punchy. It does have a game mode which i tested with a Playstation 4. I can't find the specs for it anywhere, but I did not notice much input lag, if it is present it is minimal. I was able to play shooters and fighting games just fine. I'd recommend this TV to anyone looking for a smart TV that is 4k and HDR capable. I'd especially recommend this television if you are an Amazon customer and a Fan of Alexa and Fire TV. I honestly only found two things that I did not like about this TV. One being that the provided power cord is very short. My TV is only about 3 feet off the ground and the cord did not reach the power strip I have on the floor. I had to set my power strip ontop of my entertainment center so that the cable can reach it. The other problem I have with the tv is that you have to go to the home screen, then select which input you want to adjust when adjusting picture profiles. Thankfully its not a setting you have to constantly adjust but it could be implemented better. That's it. There isn't much to complain about on this television. Go out and Get it, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

    Great 4K TV/Fire TV combo

This TV combines an Amazon Fire TV box and a 4K TV pretty seamlessly. If you use Amazon Fire TV, the setup will be easy to get through, if not, the learning curve is small. The remote is a fire TV remote with a few extra buttons such as volume, power, and buttons to access some apps directly. After first hooking it up, the TV and the remote each had their own updates. Took under 10 minutes for both to compete, the TV updates, and then the remote. The remote was more responsive after the upgrades. The TV has a black plastic bezel that isn’t to big and it looks nice. The only light is a power light that has the only button on the TV. The button, under the light, lets you change the input, and if held, turns the TV off. For the issues people have questions on. Yes, it is an Amazon remote. I was able to go to the remote section like any Fire TV device to add or remove remotes. I was able to add my Logitech Harmony remote with no issues and it controls the TV fine. Just have to figure out the power button since home to sleep are not options on the TV. You have a separate power button now. HDMI 1 and 2 at least are 4K. I plugged in my Fire TV 4K device and was able to send 4K signals. Yes, the TV will decode OTA and unencrypted channels over cable lines with no issues. You can access the OTA channels directly from the menu and it imports the channel guide for them. So, stations are identified and shows come up on the TV listings. Switching between inputs can be done by going through the menus, but they want you to use voice commands for it. The voice commands worked fine for me. Although small for a 4K TV, 4K sources looked great. Netflix and Amazon 4K shows looked superb. You can change the picture quality for each input the TV has to preset or customizable settings. I sent sound to my home theater in a box through the HDMI ARC channel with no issues, surround sound came through fine. The TV speakers were okay as far as any stereo TV speakers can be. All of the standard Fire TV selections are there, just with inputs and local channels available directly instead of through an app. I hooked the TV up with an Ethernet connection and had no streaming issues, everything was smooth. If you are not a Fire TV user, when setting up, you have the option to go full Fire TV, or a basic setup with just certain apps. So, you don’t have to go all in with Fire TV. Overall the TV is light and was easy to hang on an existing wall mount I had with a 200x200 VESA pattern. You get a remote with batteries, stands with screws if needed and setup guides. The TV is easy to remove since it comes inside the box in a bag with handles on it. Just pull it right out, and start setting it up. So, with on purchase, you get a 4K TV with a built in 4K Amazon Fire TV for a good price.

As an existing Fire TV user, I liked the idea of having the service built in so an HDMI port and a power outlet could be freed up for other devices. They did a great job of integrating the TV functions into the Fire TV platform. It is simple to switch to an HDMI port and even possible to do so via Alexa. Local channels via an antenna are also integrated. They even get placed into an on-screen program guide so I do not have to blindly change channels. The image quality is amazing. Obviously 43 inches is not exactly a big test for a 4K image but it is still excellent. The screen is really clear whether it comes to fine detail or fast motion. The audio is also really impressive for a TV. Of the flat screens I have owned over the years, this TV by far has the best audio I have heard. Of course, high quality external speakers would sound better. But this TV does an excellent job, especially if it is being used in a bedroom or somewhere it would be impractical or undesirable to use a soundbar or other types of external speakers. The one problem I ran into with this TV is that I could not figure out how to connect my computer to the TV via HDMI. It turned out to be a simple change of a setting but it took 20 minutes on the phone with tech support to figure it out because there were no instructions on how to do this via the manual. Turns out my computer uses HDMI Mode 1.4 but the TV is set to HDMI 2.0 by default. If you happen to run into the same problem, switch to the input, press and hold the Home button until the menu appears. Go to Picture>Advanced Settings>HDMI Input Mode>Mode 1 (1.4).

This 4k screen is one of the most, if not the most affordable 4K tv out there. Excellent response time even at only 60Hz I have experienced zero ghosting, tearing or other artifacts while playing BF, GTA5, World Of Warships, ect. The onboard sound sucks so make sure you get a decent set of speakers. Also, I am running 3 of these, so make sure you have a GTX1080 or better. I took a 30FPS hit at 4K in most games. my CPU is a 5 year old i5 @4ghz with a samsung ssd. (2 43" TV's and 1 50" all at 4k) The only downside to these TV vs the older 1080p tv's, is it never remember which port you were using when you turned it off, so you have to select (in my case) HDMI 1 everytime you turn it on - not a big deal at all, takes like 2 seconds. Screen clarity is amazing, much better color saturation and whites than the 40" Samsung's I used to use. Anyone that tells you that you cant us 4K TV's as computer monitors has never tried it. It works beautifully!

Hello Ducky, I hope you are well, and that you are enjoying your new TV. I understand that this maybe frustrating for you to go back and forward from the home screen and the other units used. At this moment there is no that will go automatically to HDMI. However, there is a setting called "Last input used". This configurations will allow you to go the last screen you where before turning the unit off. Please follow the steps below to make this changes: Settings> Display & Sounds> Power On> Last Input used. - Pam M. Insignia Support BBY-ExBrand_Insignia

I absolutely love this tv! This is the 3rd Insignia tv I have had in my home and by far, it is the most impressive. Let's start with picture quality. I could tell the picture was amazing as soon as I turned it on! Watching 4k content on this tv is great. Picture is clear and crisp. I absolutely love that this tv has Amazon Fire TV built in that streams 4k content. Fire TV is what my family and I have been using for watching streaming tv service and movies. The built in Fire TV functionality seems to be smoother and faster than on my other "plug-in" Fire TV Sticks. Built in wifi is very convenient however a wired connection is available if that works better for your home. I love the remote as well. All the Fire TV and regular tv functions at your fingertips. The remote also includes Alexa voice functionality as well. There are several dedicated buttons at the bottom. I like that, but I wish they could be customized to specific apps. We do not us PS Vue but there is a dedicated button on the remote that takes you directly to the app. My only complaint with this TV is the blue power indicator light by the power button that stays on when the tv is off. At night, it literally lights up the room which is inconvenient when attempting to sleep. I have looked through tv settings and there appears to be no way to turn off that light. All in all, this is a great tv at an amazing price. For bringing in smart tv functionality with UHD picture quality, you cannot beat it!

    Great Quality for the Price

It hasn't really been that long since we bought our last flat screen but the prices have dropped so much lately for such better quality that it was hard to resist. Throw in Fire-TV and Alexa and it is practically a no brainer, especially if you want to be a cord cutter and just get high speed net access from your provider without spending a ton of money for a higher end unit. Setup of the unit was a breeze, just have to wait a little bit for the software upgrade. Picture quality is great, especially for the price point. I wish we could get a larger screen, but this is what fits over the fireplace without doing major work. Fine when sitting at edge of screen though our room isn't that wide where it might be a problem. Sound quality is fine as the room isn't that large. No need for a soundbar, though I'm sure would be better with one, for a larger room. User interface is a bit awkward in places, all depends on what you'll frequently be doing. I like the voice input and connectivity to Echo for voice controls. Just have to "train" the eleven year old to not abuse it. For now the novelty is too new to him to care about his annoying behavior when watching TV. While the system has its own parental controls, not sure if it is worth using on top of controls from service provider. Definitely would have benefited from longer power cord.

I like this thing so far, I can't get it to turn on using my Echo dot even though I have it enabled in the TV's settings, but otherwise I'm super happy. The image is very nice; not as nice as my Samsung but it was like a third of the price, and it's good enough to where I'm never going to be watching something and thinking "too bad this picture isn't better." I don't like those 120 or 240Hz TVs because they make everything look like a soap opera so I'm OK with 60Hz. 3 HDMI inputs is plenty given that I don't have to connect streaming boxes like Fire TV. I also discovered that it will pair with and use Bluetooth headphones, so I don't have to bother my housemates. I've always wondered why more TVs don't do this. Turning on closed captioning is a little tedious at first because some of the apps need it turned on separately. The remote is nice, the voice control works well, searching multiple providers (Amazon, Netflix etc.) for whatever I'm looking for. And it's kind of cool and convenient controlling my lighting with my voice on the TV remote. If you're watching Amazon videos, clicking up on the remote shows all kinds of interesting stuff and lets you jump to scenes like a DVD. I'd like to reassign the PlayStation Vue button to something I will be using like the Plex app, but I know that's probably a cross-promotion thing and will never happen for business reasons.

I bought this for $200 during the President's Day Sale. Immediately when I turned this on I was shocked at how good it looks. I thought that this was only an LCD TV, but I got an LED LCD for $200. I knew right then that I made a good choice. I was also able to change all of the display settings that I wanted to. I upgraded from a 26 inch TV with a bunch of cool display settings and was worried that this TV would not have all of the settings that I used to have. I use this primarily for 4K gaming and it is perfect for that. Netflix looks amazing as well. The audio is so crisp. It is very noticeable compared to the cheap soundbar from Walmart that I have hooked up to it. The speakers can also handle being turned up very high. So loud to the point where it hurts your ears. I can't find an option for "Stable Sound" I am pretty bummed about that. The best thing about this TV is that it has Composite. I am able to plug my PlayStation 2 into this TV and change the Luminescence and Contrast and Brightness and Sharpness and Color to the point where it looks like you're using HDMI out of your PS2. Overall I would recommend this TV to anyone and everyone.

I was super excited for this tv. With multiple amazon products to interact with the tv at home, the functions including talking to the remote work for me. When I hooked it up and easily connected to my WiFi, I noticed the picture quality was a little subpar. Especially compared to my plasma that was above it. The blacks were too bright, making them look bluish and the picture just wasn’t crisp. Very disappointed initially because I wanted to love it. But! A little tweaking, which is a bit of a pain because the picture settings don’t show the picture when adjusting it which is strange, but after back and forth from settings to picture multiple times, I was able to make the picture as beautiful as my plasma. Phew. Now I love it! Tweak the settings to your liking and you’ll love this tv. Super cool streaming and cable options at a great price.

I'm not good with electronics, in fact I've had 2 echo dot's for over a year and have not figured how to connect them. Aside from that, this TV with Amazon Fire connection was so easy. Plug it in, follow the onscreen directions and done! Amazing for an old buzzard like me! Now on the other hand, If you have Spectrum ( thieving company), you will spend at least 3 hours to connect without any assistance from them. But I have a part of me that wont quit and I dealt with it without them! Best Buy really was the Best Buy! thanks. Now if you want to talk about the store service, I will only buy online. Their in store help is untrained and rude as rude could be in the store I shopped in in North lake , Charlotte NC.

This tv came out way better than i thought it be. First off the picture is fantastic, but you have to tweak the picture settings a lil bit to get it but outta the box it’s pretty decent. Sound is really really good especially for the size. I also like the design of the outter frame of the tv it looks pretty nice an it’s not just a basic plain looking like a lot of tvs are. The added bonus of the tv is the fire tv built in is fantastic. I run my cable thru PlayStation vue so i just downloaded the app an watch it on ther. I use this tv mostly for gaming though with my PlayStation Pro an runs real smooth on the game picture setting an colors pop really good, just make sure like i said to tweak the picture settings a bit like i said earlier an it’ll be almost qled tv like as far as color goes!

I got this TV to replace the one in my bedroom. Stepping up to 4K at this price is great. When our cable company went 100% digital I opted to use Fire Sticks on the bedroom TVs instead of renting boxes from the cable company, so I was familiar with the interface. I've tested many of the apps, voice control... and they all work quite well. Even though it's set up to be controlled by Alexa and Alexa perfectly understands commands from my Texas dialect, I still find myself going to the remote unit. I guess it's the old dog new tricks thing... The picture is a huge improvement over the 1080p unit it replaced. The sound is perfect for our bedroom. Assembly and setup were simple. For me this is a great 4K TV with lots of features at a bargain price.

so i started the streaming thing now, cut the cable and went only with internet throughout the house. This is my First smart TV and its perfect. It has all the apps needed to watch all my streaming services and since is FIRE TV through Amazon, it should be compatible with the upcoming Disney+, which is really why i wanted a smart streaming TV. Worth Every penny, but the only thing i have an issue with is the size. I guess 43inch is the smallest 4k TV out there. Couldn't find anything smaller in 4k from any other TV names. Oh well....

We currently have a firestick out on the big tv and I wanted to keep the interface the same for the TV in the bedroom. The firetv works great on this and the picture is really clear, I messed with the settings because I didnt like how low the back lighting was but thats a personal preference thing. I would really recommend this if your are looking for a solid tv that isnt to fancy for the bedroom. sound is really nice on it as well.

This is a great TV, but for the price point it cannot be beat. The picture is awesome and bright. There's no motion blur or anything. I like the FireTV implementation in the TV as well. I have a FireTV Stick and I've had Rokus in the past. I prefer FireTV (although I wish you could get Vudu and native YouTube) and I like the way you can use Alexa to switch inputs. The system had some updating to do at first, but after that, it is fast and responsive. Everything loads quickly and looks great. I would recommend this TV to anyone looking in this price range and size.

The picture is bright and the colors are clear and crisp. There is no blurring when there are rapid camera movements and the sound is great for a simple TV speaker. So far so good! I dropped by Firestick remote and it stopped working. Instead of putting out $40 for a new remote the salesmen showed me this (on sale for $230) and I had been hedging on a 4K tv for some time now, and decided to go for it. If you're a fan of the Firestick I think the response to my internet connection is better with the tv than the stick and it interacts with a Sony blu ray player perfectly. Now it's time to upgrade to 4K player. It's only been a month but so far so good!

I could not believe how large the 43" screen is! It is huge, to me! And the cost was so low. Being able to pay for my beautiful new Insignia Fire TV over time is wonderful. My old eyes look at the screen and I just want to be able to stay up all night to watch movies, and TV shows, and the news. I am hooked on this tv. Being able to change local channels using Alexa is pretty cool, too, for this old lady! Thank you, Best Buy. I am so happy with the color, the size, the versatility. I don't have cable, but I don't need it with this tv.
