Needs a decent remote or better sensor

    Disappointed

I had high expectations after reading all the positive reviews. Will be returning to the store next weekend. On the positive side it picked up 42 channels with my off brand leaf style antenna. The problem is I can't switch between channels with the pitiful remote that came with the TV. Likewise as I saw in another review volume seems to jump around from high to low and then unable to adjust with the remote. I'm sitting about 8 ft at most from the TV and directly in front of the tv with the remote at the same level as the sensor and used the batteries supplied with it. I was trying to set it up to skip the spanish channels since its so hard to switch channels but that was a bust. The menu kept going out. It wouldn't stay in setup mode long enough to set up. At one point it switched to analog and thus I had no channels. Had to turn off and rescan channels. I finally gave up on watching live tv and set up the Chromecast. Seemed to work ok if I just watched Hulu which I'm able to control on my tablet. Picture is meh. Also the TV is slow to load channels when the remote actually worked. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's an improvement over the 10 yr old TV it replaced. Sadly I've already given that tv to goodwill. Will spend the extra money on a Samsung TV to replace this Insignia TV when I return. It might be ok if you are connecting other peripherals with their own working remotes and you only need to use the remote that came with the TV to change the input and turn it on and off. I found the volume to be quite loud. I can't imagine wanting additional volume. That seems to be a complaint I see for many other brands, but should not be an issue with this tv. It was defaulted to 20, but I adjusted between 9 and 12.

Overall the unit was not bad for the price, however I dont have $200 to toss into the shredder every few years. I refuse to be a willing victim of planned obsolescence which is present in virtually everything you can purchase today. The last set I bought lasted 10 years and I still have it, and use it without the remote control. The screen, back-light, and power supply on this unit should last 7 to 10 years too, but a remote control will last 2 to 3 years, either from the poor quality (but expensive) leaky batteries destroying it, misplacement, or the lack of it being manufactured anymore. ***WARNING*** This TV has no external power button or input source control on the case itself. It REQUIRES the remote control to operate it. The only power/source button is on the remote control. It was promptly returned for that reason.

The only bad thing about this tv if any, is the remote control. The buttons you use for volume and channel are based on the lower portion of the control which is not easy to hold and use one hand to control. The poor design didn't stop me from keeping the tv however, so other great qualities of this tv that I haven't really used much lately still, but it is very lightweight and I like the fact that is has 3 hdmi ports. Great to hook up those extra devices. Picture quality is great so far. Sound quality is good too.

Not a Bad Basic TV for the Low Price

This TV is a low-priced, basic, larger screen TV that is not for the person who wants a "smart" TV. This TV doesn't have all of the new gadgets that you would have on more expensive sets. In fact, the audio out fixture is a single 3.5MM female jack, instead of the normal 2 - 6.5MM Female left/right jacks that you would expect. You'll have to purchase a special jack (3.5mm male to 2- 6.5mm females) in order to use a standard stereo amp for "surround sound" features. If you're looking for something with a spectacular definition or extra-sharp lines, then this is not your TV. For $199, as I've said, this is your basic, no-frills, 1080P TV.

I like the audio and picture, but the tv doesn't keep the time right and when I hook up the HDMI cable from my laptop to the tv and try watching a tv show or movie I downloaded on my laptop I get my screen saver from my laptop on my tv and the sound of the tv show or movie I downloaded on my laptop. Right now I'm having problems with trying to get transportation to bring the tv back to best buy to see what you can help me with. I called and was told to bring in the tv and my laptop to help me figure out what can be done to satisfy my purchase

Let’s face it, at this point all these TVs have pretty darn good pictures. I bought this tv for my work shop, to replace a smaller one I had in there. I wasn’t impressed with the volume through my soundbar. I could barely hear it over the air conditioner. It would probably be fine in the house but didn’t work for what I needed. I went back to my smaller tv as it had much better volume control with my soundbar

The picture is great, speakers are ok too. After a few weeks I noticed that when I power the tv on, there is a jump in volume as it comes on. Really loud and really quick. Even if I power it on, set it to mute. Turn the volume down to 0. Turn mute off, it jumps. Turn on, and its set for one of the ports (I have chromecast) it fine, but switch it back to tv and there is the volume jump again...

I did wind up returning this television because of a bright light in the bottom right of the screen. I think it was isolated to just my TV. Picture quality is great as long as you are across the room. Get any closer and it is absolutely terrible. Makes a good bedroom TV. But would not purchase as main TV.

we can't get the TV to take direction from just one controller. We have to divide between the tv controller and Comcast's. It's inconvenient to have the sound controls on one and the channel controls on the other. Am glad to have the larger picture though. And the price was right.

Purchased this TV as a low-priced option for our spare bedroom. Decent picture and decent sound but no smart TV features. We knew it didn't have the Smart TV features but after using the TV, we are probably going to return it and pick up a different set.

We've had this tv for a while now and the picture qaulity seems fine for the price but the sound isn't that good. The range is very little, it's either pretty low or gets loud really fast. But overall still ok for a bargain tv.

For the price I honestly think it was a steal. Don’t expect anything outstanding. Picture quality is very good. It was better than I expected. You get what you pay for, and I feel I got a better deal than what I paid for.

Couldn't really beat the price. The TV has a nice image but dark colors seem very bright. If the screen had better color quality without the extra brightness I'd rate it much higher.

I picked this up for our in home gym. It works great but probably won't last long as it doesn't have any apps whatsoever. This works for the time being and was a great price for a solution needed quickly.

The TV is great for the price I paid (it was on sale). When the tv is turned on, the volume is extremely loud for a split second, then goes back to the volume it was set to when turned off.

Decent TV, would purchase again . It doesn't recognize certain USBs but if that is not a necessity , it will work just great. Picture quality is decent as well .
