Customers admire the 43” Class LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV Edition TV for its exceptional picture quality, affordable price, and simple setup process. The Fire TV integration is also well-received. However, some users have concerns about the durability of the TV, with reports of short lifespans and screen issues. Additionally, the remote control could be improved for better user-friendliness, and the viewing angle is slightly limited.

I bought this tv for the Black Friday Deal and have only been using it a couple weeks. It was easy to set up and has a nice sleek appearance. However, when trying to stream shows and movies a pink line has already started appearing on the bottom of the screen so Idk if we got a faulty TV or what. Not happy having having issues this early with a new purchase.

Hello Ash,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review on our 43'' UHD TV. We understand how important a huge purchase such as this one can be for you. I know how disheartening it can be to have this sort of experience from the start. This is why we would like to invite you to contact our team so that we can look into this with you and provide you with a resolution.

First I will preface this review with the fact that I understand not to expect a $3000 picture out of a $250 TV. However, I feel compelled to point out the back light bleed through on this TV is pretty significant which creates the dark cloudy patches on the display. I am replacing a 3 year old Haier 40" which was $180, much flatter and did not have this issue (as bad) as this TV.

I've had issues since day 1 with this TV. Not sure if it's due to it being delivered to my lobby on its SIDE or not. Since the first month, I had large green rays popping on my screen every other week (see pics of tv screwed up, the show was from lovelyti2002 yt channel). I had a geek squad guy come out twice to fix it and after realizing he essentially didn't fix the issue I knew I was screwed. There would be times the volume just went all the way up w no manipulation from the remote, just randomly. So recently, as in a few days ago I'm watching the TV and it just goes totally dim (like 10% brightness type of feel) and after troubleshooting through different channels, factory resets and any help I could find on google I realise the backlight/ LED has to have gone out. Which needs replacing. Its been two years, my service w Geek Squad is over and I'm down a few hundred bucks on my first TV and will probably have to get a new one w money I don't have =( ughhhh Really sucks

After 6 months of use this TV is flickering dark and powering on and off. We have reset it. Unplugged it. Checked the one cord (power) checked the breaker for the circuit it is on. It’s just dead. Unfortunately, we didn’t install it for 8 months after buying it due to construction delays. So it’s out of warranty!! Does anyone else have this problem?

The Short: Insignia Good, Fire TV Bad. 4K/HDR extra price for performance not gained...At this size, save your money, buy a 1080p non-smart version and add your steaming player of choice.
Quick background, I have purchased many of Insignia TVs of the years and have turned to that brand again and again for budget sets. I am also a long time Roku platform user/advocate and at this price point this product was offered to me, I thought I'd give Amazon a shot, both to test the Fire TV platform and to replace an aging 32" TCL Roku TV. In short I will be putting a Roku Streaming device on this set as the Amazon Software just stinks.
Setup:
A neat feature, probably better suited for this size tv versus larger tv's is the that set was in addition to the typical foam protection, came in a big bag with handles, which made removing the tv extremely easy. I install and mount tv's for cabins quite often by myself and that normally requires cutting the box to safely remove the set from the packaging. A 43" is neither heavy nor awkward to remove, but this was made even easier by the handled-bag-design. Installed the two separate stands quickly (they are not reversible) and clearly marked which way is front and which is right/left and then moved on to plugging it in.
The cords on TV's these days are getting annoying. I did not measure but I am gauging it is in 3.3 meter (4ft) range. 6ft would definitely have been welcomed seeing as the power supplies are either on the far right or left. I had to move my power strip to the other side of my dresser to plug-in the set, mild annoyance. However, if this set is sitting on a taller dresser (mine is short and wide) you may need an extension cord to reach a wall outlet.
The design of the TV is black plastic with a brushed aluminium texture. There was only one sticker/protective wrap on the tv (a first) and it was the yellow power consumption sticker. Bezels are thin enough. The TV is quite thick for its size due to the lighting type.
The startup procedure took a little longer than expected. I had assumed there would be software updates, but it took about 5-7 minutes to download and install. I did notice the set does not have 5Ghz Wifi capabilities. I prefer that for my smart tv devices and use the 2.4Ghz for smartphones, computers, and tablets. I don't count that against the device, but it could have been why it took longer to update as my 2.4Ghz network is full of devices. What was interesting after the update it asked me if I wanted to use the same Wifi Network I just setup minutes before. Um...YES why would I want to change the network?
A cool feature that others could learn from, when signing in to the internet and amazon accounts, the keyboard interface was standard qwerty for email, but not for password. However, both interfaces use program the Menu Button and Play/Pause Buttons as quick keys to toggle Upper/Lower Case and Continue respectively. That's different from other devices I have used.
Hardware
So far the Hardware seems fine for a budget tv. it is a definite upgrade in both picture and speed from my current bedroom TV (minus the software update). The speed could be the differences in the smart platform, but I'm inclined to think the hardware upgrades are definitely helping out.
I could not find out what type of lighting it was prior to purchase, but surmised it would most likely be edge lighting and after turning it on for the first time, that is correct. There are definite dark and light spots, again this is a budget TV, so don't expect the true 4K HDR combo of pricier sets. The HDR compatibility will be for HDR10 as it is the current industry standard and Dolby Vision requiring certain hardware requirements.
Picture quality and sound quality are great for this price range. Again 4K is the new fad, so it has to have that, HDR as well as, but I'm hard pressed to think this set has any advantage of having it. Better lighting mechanics would greatly improve it, but for what you are paying its a fine entry-level 4K TV.
There are 4 Display Settings to change the warm/cold color of the TV: Standard, Movie, Dynamic, Natural. And then also a Custom setting. Each pre-programmed setting can be tweaked.
Sound comes from two down firing speakers. They are a bit hollow and have an echo effect, treble and bass could be adjusted (deep in the settings menu, more on that below). I've never had a TV set that sound was excellent, but that can always be remedy by adding a soundbar or even computer speakers via 3.5mm headphone jack, which this TV has that and Optical Out. However, the 3.5mm headphone jack was not working properly. It was displaying sound out of only the right speaker and at a greatly reduced rate than what the volume was. The speakers I know work fine on the tv it is replacing, so I am inclined to think it is the port on the Insignia.
Sound I also found to be very loud at only 12-13 sound level. Distortion will occur around the 20 level with any content containing explosions or high treble and bass sounds. Of course having that high I think will be at the max range for any viewers listening experience as it will be extremely loud (and no I'm not old, I still listen to my music loud...I really like to feel the percussion in my Beethoven and Bach...that was a joke..but also true). I did not tweak the treble or bass settings as it seemed fine for normal listening level, but if for some reason you like it louder, I would definitely lower the stock settings.
The remote is good sized, actually like it better than the Roku remotes. You may have to reach a littler further to get to the top most buttons, but that is hardly anything we are not used to. Roku Remotes that have sound control capabilities, place them on the right side edge. Very easy to accidentally mute or change volume. This remote is also bluetooth and it responded quite well, with no noticeable lag.
Software
I'll start with the one positive I mentioned above, this OS is based off of Android TV, which means Apps/Channels can be sideloaded. So if you like to tinker or have specific apps you want, you can get them. But the average user I would not recommend that as you are not even guaranteed a good user experience.
And that's where the good stops.
My 2 Stars is generous for this platform. I had hoped that it would improve greatly on the Prime Video App on other platforms, but it is an absolute mess just the same. Adding the fact that you have to use the UI to access other streaming apps, makes it even more a mess. Again, I new this already and for the price point it was offered to me, I went with it, however, Amazon puts is services first, which translates to it does not offer any other apps for download that competes with its ecosystem ie Vudu, Google Play Movies, Fandango Now, etc. Amazon and Google are also in a small war and so you cannot even get Google backed Apps even though the platform is based off of Android TV. This is mainly for Video Steaming services. It does have Spotify, which competes with Amazon Music.
There are definite nay-sayers that Roku is a boring tired UI, however, it works and anyone can quickly navigate it. It took Apple's formula and applied it to its OS, simple, easy, even a mere child or octogenarian could navigate it. If Fire TV is innovative, then I prefer boring.
My two biggest complaints with Fire TV, just like Prime Video App, is I don't know what I am selecting half the time. It takes a while to determine if what I am highlighting is Yellow or not and then the UI navigation is all over the place. I first thought there was no way to access Display or Sound Settings, but after delving into the Settings Menu (and turning off all the "data sharing info" I found them. You are then instructed to hold down the HOME button to bring display this pop-up settings menu, which pauses whatever streaming content you are watching. Each Input HDMI 1, 2, 3 can be adjusted accordingly. Steaming content is lumped together.
When it comes to steaming players the options are: Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Fire TV, and then whatever fork of Android also exists. Samsung, LG, and Vizio are busy building their own Smart TV OS Platforms and so to keep things cheap budget brands like Insignia, Toshiba, Element, TCL, Hisense, etc. are turning to partnerships. Google does partner its Android TV with Sony and Hisense and gives built-in Chromecast functionality to Vizio, but Vizio uses its owns limited Smart OS platform. This is new territory for the TV industry having Third Party software running on a multitude of hardware manufacturers devices and quite frankly its scary, its Android but in the tv arena and Google is trying to fix this fragmentation. The difference is the UI with Fire TV or Roku is the same no matter the brand tv, however, if there is an issue the brand only has control of hardware, not software. I ran into this with a 2018 TCL 55" 6 series Roku TV and returned it after 14 days, since the only remedy was to ship for repair, no thanks!

Enjoy Local OTA & Stream Popular Internet TV

After two weeks of enjoying this Insignia LED Smart 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition, I am convinced this is primarily designed for the ever-increasing abundance of 'cord-cutters', who still have a generous-data Internet connection. This particular TV offers outstanding local OTA TV in 1080-I and 4K UHD with numerous Internet content found mostly only on 'streaming-devices', which require additional hardware costs. Amazon's Fire TV has cleverly combined these operations for you.
For its price-point this Insignia TV has loads of features, which are usually found on much more expensive units. As a long-time cable-cutter I particularly enjoyed the enhanced TV channel guide. This on-board guide gives you pictorial graphics of the TV shows available, presents an informative narrative of that specific presentation, and allows you to move forward in time to see the future available entertainment offerings, too. The built-in AI (artificial intelligence) assembles my most frequented local channels, at the time, and displays them in sequence when I access the channel guide. A fascinating feature is the ability to rewind, stop, and, or, fast forward your live TV, or streaming by ten seconds either way . . . . Love it.
From a 'Smart-TV' standpoint I have been able to access my e-mail account, search the Internet using the 'Silk' Browser, You-Tube, ESPN, and various other popular Internet sites. I can also access my on-line banking, however, my concern is what virus protection does Insignia or Silk, or FireFox Browsers offer?
I do not know of any other TV Internet operation that allows the user to access both Netflix and Hulu on the same platform. Plus, the Wi-Fi connection to your router can be 5.0 GHz or 2.0 GHz, which ever you choose to configure it that way. How cool is that?
What I Like About Insignia LED Smart 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition:
** Simple Remote – Very Intuitive with Voice Actuation. You need an Amazon account to fully take advantage of the myriad features, but you can simply enable the voice command and tell the remote what you want to do. It also allows you to stop live TV or videos and move them forward or backwards. It will sync with Amazon's Alexa or Echo, if you have one in the same room to find whatever your heart desires.
** HD Picture Quality - 4K Ultra HD picture quality with over 8 million pixels for stunning clarity, deep contrast and vivid colors. For its price-point the picture quality is amazing.
** Realistic Sound – Most TV's this size have chinnsy sounding speakers – this TV delivers a full DTS TruSurround and Dolby audio at 8 watts each speaker – they are very good, especially, if you adjust the Sound Settings to 'Standard', Bass at Level 16, and Treble at 8 - turn the main volume control to a moderate level (no higher then 18) to avoid distortion. My TV shows, movie, video sounds, and Spotify, Pandora, etc., produce full, rich, mid-range frequencies with clear voice. You can also add a sound bar or other external speakers through the HDMI-ARC port, which gives you the option to enable or disable the TV speakers.
** Acceleration and Operation - Quad-core CPU/Multi-core GPU – Very responsive to OTA and Pay TV Services, Downloaded Apps, and or Web Browser Bookmarks. Internet browsing is surprisingly fast.
** 3 HDMI Inputs – For your home theater connections to Blue Ray Video Players, TV Sound Bar Systems, Gaming Console, Satellite Receivers, Cable Box, or other electronic devices.
** One USB Input – I connected a compatible keyboard to my Fire TV for enhanced navigation through all of the various entertainment options, and, it also allows me to send e-mails quickly. I can also connect my digital camera to display selected photos to share with my friends and family.
** Web Browsers – Amazon Silk or Firefox. You can use both and bookmark your favorite websites, and, or download additional Apps to the numerous featured Apps. You can always remove or delete featured, and, or downloaded Apps at any time.
** Personalized Viewing Settings – I can adjust picture settings for each of my connected devices - Blue Ray Player and Gaming Console. Since I am a cable-cutter, I can also designate my favorite TV channels in my on-line TV Guide.
If you are not experienced with Amazon's Fire TV platform you will be pleased that the learning curve is very minimal and simple. Another plus is that software updates are automatic so the software on your TV and remote is always the latest. WooHoo! I highly recommend the purchase of this Insignia LED Smart 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition. It is truly both an entertainment hub and Smart TV with loads of features and Apps. Christmas is just around the corner – this Insignia Fire TV would make a great gift for that special family member or friend. You will not be disappointed.

This 4k screen is one of the most, if not the most affordable 4K tv out there. Excellent response time even at only 60Hz I have experienced zero ghosting, tearing or other artifacts while playing BF, GTA5, World Of Warships, ect. The onboard sound sucks so make sure you get a decent set of speakers.
Also, I am running 3 of these, so make sure you have a GTX1080 or better. I took a 30FPS hit at 4K in most games. my CPU is a 5 year old i5 @4ghz with a samsung ssd. (2 43" TV's and 1 50" all at 4k)
The only downside to these TV vs the older 1080p tv's, is it never remember which port you were using when you turned it off, so you have to select (in my case) HDMI 1 everytime you turn it on - not a big deal at all, takes like 2 seconds.
Screen clarity is amazing, much better color saturation and whites than the 40" Samsung's I used to use.
Anyone that tells you that you cant us 4K TV's as computer monitors has never tried it. It works beautifully!

Hello Ducky, I hope you are well, and that you are enjoying your new TV. I understand that this maybe frustrating for you to go back and forward from the home screen and the other units used. At this moment there is no that will go automatically to HDMI. However, there is a setting called "Last input used". This configurations will allow you to go the last screen you where before turning the unit off. Please follow the steps below to make this changes: Settings> Display & Sounds> Power On> Last Input used. - Pam M. Insignia Support

My original intentions were to get a 1080p smart television but this one stood out with it's attractive price I thought it's usually worth it to spend a little more for televisions and I'll be happy when I have it in my home, and I am for the most part, although the lack of dedicated Google apps such as YouTube are annoying and the Fire TV software can be kinda wonky on occasion, and they always advertise Prime video and suggest things you can say to Alexa from the remote that comes with it. I'm not huge into Amazon's ecosystem so it's actually a little off putting but all of that is why I only take away 1 star. For the most part using it is a dream and I love the size and quality of the screen, and there actually are some really handy voice commands to switch between different HDMI outputs and going to a specific show on a specific service which I really appreciate. Keep in mind this is my first step up from non smart 1080p televisions as 4K is becoming increasingly accessible so you might not be as wowed by some of the features as I was. So all in all I was really happy with this purchase and I'd recommend this or maybe even go the extra mile and spring for a bigger version if it can fit where you want it to go because it really is worth spending a little more when it comes to televisions.

We have replaced all of our TVs with insignia and this one is the best so far! Easy to use and download apps. Great sound, color, user friendly, easy to pair other remotes and devices. The only drawback is switching it to HDMI every time we turn on the tv and want to watch cable. But for the price and the quality, it’s totally worth it.

This is a must. I was pleasantly surprised with the accurate calibration from Factory. Incredible picture High Dynamic Range. All in all a best bang for the buck. Honestly can’t understand how this Brand isn’t more relevant on the market. This is definitely a great deal if you enjoy quality picture out of the box. TV technology is getting better and better as we move forward. The best smart TV solution on the market......FIRE TV !! This smart interface in my opinion is the snapiest most powerful smart OS Interface on the market . I like Ruku don’t get me wring but Fire Tv is in a whole whole other level of performance Versatility and performance hands down. Once you set it ip right you need nothing else. All that’s needed is a fast internet connection and you’re set ! Best Buy Insignia brand products can compete with any brand costing way more. I believe they can get away with the price because they own the floor and don’t have to advertise as hard as the other brands thus passing on the saving in to you. Well done Best Buy. Thank you for a quality product. Great price. Great deal !!

Bought the Insignia 43" Class - LED - 2160p - Smart -4k UHD TV with HDR - Fire TV Edition to switch out our living room TV. We didn't have any prior experience with a Fire TV but have purchased many Insignia brand electronics. What attracted us most to the TV was the price. It was on sale with a significant savings.
We have had the TV for a little over a year now and no issues with it. Good sound and picture quality. TV was very easy to set up. We don't have cable, just the streaming services, so I can't speak as to how it would be with cable or antenna. There is a large selection of built in streaming apps to choose from that are free.
We are glad that we made this purchase.

So far so good. I brought this mainly for the price and size, and the fact that it's a smart TV. I've only had it a couple of weeks, set up was easy, it has a good picture and I like the smart options that come with it.
