Customers admire the 43” Class LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV Edition TV for its exceptional picture quality, affordable price, and simple setup process. The Fire TV integration is also well-received. However, some users have concerns about the durability of the TV, with reports of short lifespans and screen issues. Additionally, the remote control could be improved for better user-friendliness, and the viewing angle is slightly limited.

This is both my first step into the world of smart tv's, and Amazon Fire products. With that in mind, I tend to do heavy research before buying anything, and I push every purchase I make to the far limits of what it's capable of, or even intended to do.
Let me start by saying, I'm pretty satisfied with this TV. A lot of other reviews knock it for build quality and viewing angle, but in my experience thus far I think they're a little harsh on this device. Below are my findings compared to the main complaints.
BUILD QUALITY
- I have it on the included leg stands and can say it is plenty stable. The legs are well designed and give it good support and balance. It comes with a standard wall mounting point, but I have not used this.
-The plastic bezels and body look clean and do not detract from the viewing experience. I appreciate the layout of the ports and controls.
PICTURE
-My living room layout has me generally 15 feet from the screen at the furthest, and off to one side typically (but never exceeding) about 30-40 degrees. While some tv's may have a better viewing angle threshold, this is still admirable for the price range. Front and center is best, but even at these angles I usually watch from, it's a great picture and the screen shade described by others is minimal if not entirely unnoticed.
-There is minimal calibration information online for this device, and as a result it was very difficult to bring out the best picture this screen was capable of. In fact, I continue to tweak it even after a month of trial and error already behind me. The screen is certainly acceptable out of the box as is, but every television should be properly calibrated to best suit your viewing environment, and also your personal tastes. I will list my settings at the end of this review for anybody interested in using them as a base for their own calibration.
SOFTWARE
-This being a Fire TV and not a Firestick/cube, it does not have nearly as much information available on it as I'd have hoped. It is equivelant to a 2nd generation Firestick in my tests however. You may struggle with a severely lacking internal storage as I do, being my main gripe about the product as a whole. This is easily resolved by plugging in either a sizeable thumb drive, or an external SSD though and allowing the TV to format it as extended storage. If you do so, I will say that this is an excellent emulation station, as a bonus to its more intended usage as a TV and streaming device.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I recommend this television as probably the best budget smart TV at the time of this review. Speakers are clear and adequate, screen is vibrant and bright, and Amazons Fire experience is very user friendly and enjoyable. There may be other devices that beat this one out in any of these categories, but for the price and quality you do get, nothing beats it by a wide enough margin in my opinion to warrant spending significantly more as a result.

Needed a replacement for my former yet inadequate 39" flat screen in my bedroom. Opted for a smart tv. Glad I made the decision to go with the Insignia Fire TV. After reading reviews, I learned that not only is this brand a Best Buy brand, the display is MFG by Samsung. I am no tech expert on display, but I have been very pleased with how good the images appear on this screen. I love the smart (Fire TV) function with available apps, such as Prime Video, HULU, & Netflix always available at the touch of a button! Sound quality was actually very good, but I decided to convince my wife that we needed a sound bar for the bedroom - - I opted for the Polk Audio Magnifi Mini - - (see that device for my review). PS - the Magnifi Mini HDMI/ARC was not recognized with the Insignia and no matter what I did it would not connect, so i used the included opt/dig cable and could not be happier! It served to enhance the already decent sound the tv produced! It's only been a week, so only time will tell whether or not this tv will be a bust like my last one was after only 4 years! Needless to say, Life was not Good with that brand or their failing LED Diffusers which caused annoying bright white spots behind the display.
WiFi setup was a breeze with the Insignia, and all functions operate quickly and without hesitation. The only setup change I made was under the display settings changing the "Power On" function to the "Last Used" ie: my set top cable....which made it easier when powering on the television allowing it to tune directly to my last input instead of having to navigate from the main Fire TV screen/menu back to my cable input! Purchased on Labor Day Weekend sale for $199 which was a huge plus also!

It works pretty decently, everything was easy to setup but keep in mind you need an Amazon account or it is very limited. The other issue is it has limited support for Universal remotes. Most of the functions are controlled wirelessly only similar to the Fire TV remote and aren't sent via Infrared and so cannot be programmed.
Other than that, the picture quality is suprisingly good even compared to a Samsung or Sony TV. It is a drastic improvement other the old LCD it replaced.

I just wanted something larger than what I had and the idea of a fire tv got me right away since my whole house is Alexa enabled. I didn’t know too much about the brand, but it was a good first fire tv purchase. This tv keeps you in business without cable, apps are all you need. I already had Netflix and prime but there are a lot of free apps I also use now thanks to the fire tv. And for 200 bucks and a free echo dot? I couldn’t pass it up. Amazing purchase.

I've had my smart tv for about 8 months now and I must say I really enjoy using this smart TV. I love all the features on it. I can connect to my cable provider and download all kind of apps. Having an amazon account will be very beneficial. The buttons on the remote provide easy access to the apps of your choice.
I use my tv to stream movies from either my cell phone or one of the streaming apps I have downloaded on my tv. The setup was super easy. Connecting to my wifi took less than 5 mins! Alexa is enabled on this tv and I love it. The fact that I can talk to my tv and she talks back is amazing and useful. The actual tv sound is amazing as well it provides a surround sound as well as a good strong bass. It can get extremely loud especially when I want to listen to music or even stream it from my phone. Overall I can do a lot of interesting this with my tv and it all is very entertaining. I just want to mention that I even have the option of having a screensaver on my tv screen using my personal photos!
The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is because If I were to lose my little remote the tv only has a power button on it. That means I wouldn't be able to adjust the volume nor do anything else without the remote. With that being said make sure to keep up with your remote.

This is my first "smart" TV and I love it. The price was very reasonable with a Black Friday sale price. I have Apple TV for 2 other TVs in my home and paid about $170 for each one. This TV has Amazon Fire TV baked-in and this is essentially Apple TV for free. I have also attached an external antenna and am surprised I can get quite a few local channels using this and I live in an apartment with the antenna inside my apartment. I am looking at "cutting the cord" with my cable company and the local free TV channels will help me with my ultimate decision. I can access my Netflix and Hulu account on the home page of the TV. Haven't decided if I will use the TV remote or my previous Harmony remote. The TV remote does have a "voice command" button and I got a free Amazon Echo Dot when I purchased the TV. I haven't set-up the Echo Dot yet but think I can voice control the TV using that rather than the TV remote. So far so good and I had bought a Best Buy Insignia TV for my bedroom, more than 1 year ago, and I haven't had any problems with it yet either. Highly recommend this 43" Smart TV.

Picture, sound quality, set up everything was great !!! After a week and a half of receiving my tv, it would no longer turn on! I unplugged it 3 times at 2 mins. Nothing. Remote nothing. I changed the batteries, tv turned on and good.My second complaint is I have a hard time seeing at times. And a 43" tv 7 -8 feet away shouldn't be that bad , but took a while and learned how to zoom the screen!! Great right? Not every time you hit a button there is a little yellow box that shows in the right hand corner of the screen and it takes forever to go away! Don't know how to turn it off!!! 3rd it's a fire tv, I have Amazon prime. But storage wise, it's close to being done. 5 gigs of storage?.what? I'm 52 years old and my first smart tv. I'm very good with mobile phones, tablets , and some computers.... I'm not about this. Any advice email me best buy or call me.... I don't even know what USB storage is....obviously I need it ! I cleared cashe, apps I didn't use , I don't know!

Great TV for the price I paid. The picture quality and sound is great. Very easy to mount to stand. Set up was very easy. And it being a fire tv edition was a added bonus, because I have an amazon prime account, so I could just log in with my amazon information.

First let me preface this by saying I got the tv for $199. I was in the market for a cheap 4K tv and this was the one I settled on. It’s a little bright in terms of the backlight, but the picture is great.
I love the Amazon Fire TV integration and being able to manage input devices with the help of Alexa. I’m also able to turn the tv off and on using my Echo Dot. The TV even has an Ethernet jack that lets me hardwire into my network which was a plus for me.
There is little documentation out there for this tv and when I posed a question to Insignia I never got a response as to whether the apps on the tv are capable of displaying a 4K picture. I’m assuming yes?
Overall, if you are looking for a budget 4K tv and already bought into the Amazon ecosystem this is the right move for you. Definitely would like a second one.

This tv came out way better than i thought it be. First off the picture is fantastic, but you have to tweak the picture settings a lil bit to get it but outta the box it’s pretty decent. Sound is really really good especially for the size.
I also like the design of the outter frame of the tv it looks pretty nice an it’s not just a basic plain looking like a lot of tvs are. The added bonus of the tv is the fire tv built in is fantastic. I run my cable thru PlayStation vue so i just downloaded the app an watch it on ther. I use this tv mostly for gaming though with my PlayStation Pro an runs real smooth on the game picture setting an colors pop really good, just make sure like i said to tweak the picture settings a bit like i said earlier an it’ll be almost qled tv like as far as color goes!

6 wks ago, bought this 43" Insignia Smart TV with 4K UHD & HRD Amazon Fire built in. No complaints. Good value for the price. Lots of controls for user preferences. One you will want to set is for the TV to return to its last channel/position on power up. Otherwise, it defaults to the Amazon menu.
Doesn't seem to have as good of side viewing clarity as my previous non-smart Seiki 40" HDTV, (which I loved, but burned through two sets of LED backlights in 5 years, so decided it was cheaper to get a new Smart TV than to keep replacing backlights every 2-3 years.) Would have gotten another Seiki if they still carried them -- their colors are deeply brilliant and crisp images. Don't notice any difference on this new TV with the supposed higher resolution, maybe because I'm not watching that many HD broadcasts.
The feet are quite sturdy and support the TV well, but they are 32" apart -- too wide for the corner table it sits on, so used a piece of plywood on top of the table until my after-market Fitueyes brand adjustable pedestal TV stand arrived from Amazon. A good investment at $21.99. This TV does come with the screws already in the holes to attach wall mounting bracket, but the Fitueyes stand kit comes with screws and spacers for numerous types of hole configurations. That's my plug for the TV pedestal stand which I researched thoroughly before purchase.
Took some practice using the remote with no channel selector, but now am adept at zipping through the screen menus, or using built-in Alexa voice commands to reach the destination I want. Also getting used to having Smart TV capabilities with internet access. Remember you don't have to load all the apps Amazon gives you, or sign up for any subscriptions from the TV screen. If you do want to cancel something, it can only be done from your computer logging into Amazon account and buried in menus under Subscriptions - Other Subscriptions. The apps take up space in the memory of the TV which means less space for rewind/fast fwd of live TV. I got a message once that there were no more rewinds available. You can remove (uninstall) apps if you don't want them.
Was finally able to get the hookup just right to make my old analog VCR record from TV and playback, so it IS possible by using old converter box.
Some reviewers complained about the sound, but I find it has a wide spectrum of volume easily controlled and heard clearly from another room.
One other reviewer complained bitterly about a strong "chemical smell" that filled the entire room and would not go away, making her sick. I understand where she was coming from, but it was not quite that bad, and eventually did dissipate after about a month.

This 4K TV is great, especially for under $200. Great picture, easy setup. Sound quality is average, as expected from 8-watt speakers. This TV even makes a channel guide for local over-the-air channels received through a coax cable connected to a digital antenna. The remote fits well in my handle and was easy to use. I would have given 5 stars if I were able to use the YouTube TV app (a Google product). But I couldn't because the TV comes with built-in Fire TV (an Amazon product). I found out Amazon and Google are hostile to one another, not letting one have the other's apps on their product. I also heard the two giants have agreed to allow the apps in future updates. It hasn't happened yet on this TV.

This was a great TV for the spare bedroom. I actually purchased this as a gift for one of my parents and she loved it. It's easy to use, has a great picture, and was a good price. It's easy to set up. Even for people who aren't technologically savvy the TV is easy to use and the built in Fire TV works great for accessing a variety of services. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a 43 inch TV for basic use. It has a great picture as well. As with everything, the size you choose depends on your needs. I have several Insignia TVs and they all work well. I only wish they would make larger TVs in the 65 inch range.

So this TV has an excellent picture, god sound and an overall great performer.
Only a few things bug me:
1. You cant select a permanent home screen on power up - only last input - so if you were on ps4 but would like your TV to go directly to Netflix or vice versa its not gonna happen unless that was your last input
2. its like operating a giant firestick
3. Ads can be annoying
Other than this its great - ps4 look totally amazing - movies sharp and awesome - easy set up - nice emote with voice control which is A+
Yes buy this TV when the price is right -insignia 43 inch 4k HDR voice remote amazon fire tv streaming ready - $170 - wow!

After deciding that we needed a new tv in our living room (ok, I needed a new toy!) I started researching all over the Internet. The general consensus seemed to be either spend as little or as much as possible. As our living room is pretty small I decided I didn’t want to go over 43” and I definitely wasn’t in the “spend as much as possible” demographic. Also, we had been using a Firestick and had become pretty comfortable with it so a Fire TV seemed to be the way to go. Unfortunately, none of them were highly reviewed. In reading other reviews it became clear that the reviewers were comparing these tv’s to sets 2-3 x’s the prices. So anyway, I chose the Toshiba Fire TV. Next was a trip to Best Buy as they had a few of the models I was researching on display. Lo and behold, the Toshiba was nowhere near as clear and sharp as the Insignia. The colors were less smeared on the Insignia and the Toshiba was hard to see if you weren’t directly in front of it. And not wanting a sound system or sound bar, I found the Insignia to actually sound pretty decent. So, alas, no Toshiba. I left with the Insignia 43” Fire TV. We’ve had it for about 3 weeks and haven’t had any real issues. Setup took a while only because it said our WIFI was slow during the update process. I never had that issue with our Firestick. I moved our router right next to the TV and I haven’t had any issues since. HBO GO will buffer for a second every few programs but it’s my understanding that that is more of an issue with the app than anything else. It also suffers from the buzzing that many LED TV’s suffer from due to the backlight setting. I’ve read that this happens on a lot of sets regardless of price. The buzzing is so minimal that I don’t even notice it unless I’m listening for it. Other than that it’s been pretty decent for the price (sale price was $229.99).

If you are a real stickler for great quality picture but you're also on a budget this is a good option. On top of the quality of the photo you also get the added benefit of having the fire stick software integrated into the TV.
The TV will make you set the fire TV up before you can start to watching, it also updated the firmware which took a few minutes. Meaning it doesn't just work out the box, but that is to be expected with a "smart" television. This was mildly annoying but the quality, convenience and price more then made up for the set up.
