I brought this tv for my 75 yr. old uncle's birthday. He's not into smart tv's, just something plain and simple. The pictures are nice and clear with the 1080p resolution. It's everything that is described. He absolutely loves his new tv! I think that I now may be he favorite niece. ❤

Straight away, for the price this TV is...ahem...good enough. It's one of the few non-smart, non-4K TVs available to buy new. Having only connected a 3rd gen Apple TV to it, I haven't tested Blu-Ray, nor do I have cable, over-the-air broadcast, or any game boxes. It is doubtful that matters. If you are looking for a stellar TV for epic movies and gameplay, keep searching. If you need the most basic HD (I use that term reluctantly) this TV will suffice. The screen has a few diminished spots like what happens if a camera sensor has dust on it. It's either a design flaw or manufacturing anomaly. My wife doesn't see it, and with limited funds I suppose we'll keep the TV. If I wasn't trying to be more content in this season of life, I would return it. I connect the sound to external surround receiver, so no comments on the speakers. Like everything else, don't expect anything special. This is just a TV. Bare. Bones. Boring. But darn cheap! Also, this TV is light as a feather. You can either think, "darn, that's really cheap feeling"....or, "wow, look how well engineered it is to be so light!" A for effort? Unlike those who post 1 star or 5 star reviews and nothing else, I give it 3 stars. C+ and no chance of a scholarship. Oh, I can barely see any difference in the various display modes. I discern minor noise from HD sources; background blur can seem artificial and busy -- and to compare it with another HD Samsung 40" TV I've been borrowing for months, I can certainly see this TV is underwhelming in most categories. But again: that Samsung cost my friend over $700. This TV is on sale for $130. If you don't want to go into debt for a 43" TV and don't really need bells, whistles, or whatever than this is the TV for you. Spare room TV...perfect for that! What else can you expect from a C student?

They all don't have to be smart. The picture quality exceeds some more expensive brands, set up is simple. It of course has HDMI inputs. Great TV for the spare room or guest room. If I had to take off 1/2 star, it's because the legs are so far apart and you may need a wider stand.

This TV is the 2nd Insignia that we have purchased and the picture is clear, color is bright.

Awesome 43" TV with great sale price! It is not a smart TV. This TV was in the line up with the 55" and up televisions, and has the better picture and volume as described in other reviews of this item. I was going to get the 40" which was with the 32" and below flat screens, and I am very glad I went around the corner to look at the larger televisions. The service in the store was also excellent!
