    hard to install. leaks water, does cool well

    Beware this units will not work on all windows. I have a standard 31 inch double hung window, when you insert the flimsy vent panel, it blocks the exhaust hole. Your window needs to be about 36 in. You could cut the panel, but it was so flimsy I decided to use a piece of wood instead and cut an exhaust hole. After installation was complete, we used unit and cooling was good. Unfortunately water was leaking on floor after first night so I tried to empty reservoir and saw "NO" hose was supplied, so I had to go to HDW store to find a drain hose. Cost was $1, why couldn't they supply this in package??? After inserting hose into valve I inserted into a 1 gal. jug figuring I was good for a while, WRONG! after 2 nights a gallon jug was overflowing on floor. Called Insignia customer service and its disconnected! Insignia is BestBuy private brand company. poor product and poor service!

    I must’ve gotten a total dud. All the reviews say this thing cools their rooms down. I had it run for 2 hours at 69 degrees in a medium sized bedroom with the door shut. After 2 hours the room was still 84 degrees (the same temp as the rest of the apartment). I played with the temperature controls and the air that was blowing out was no cooler on 60 than it was on the highest setting - which the air wasn’t cool or refreshing at all. And yes I have it on the “cool” mode. Very disappointed. Even more disappointed that I have to lug this thing back down the stairs only to do it all over again with another a/c.

    We paid $1200 to replace all of our exterior air conditioners. We felt they took away from the appearance of our home only to have A useless R2-D2 looking piece of junk with a huge hose that goes across the room to the window sitting in each room. One of ours sits under our thermostat. It tells us the temperature is 61, the thermostat says, 80 We believe our thermostat! I hate to write reviews I’m the type of person who feels oh well it didn’t work, shame on me. I don’t make a big thing about it, but these have been so disappointing! So If I can stop someone from wasting their money who doesn’t have the money to waste, I hope this helps. We have put in our old air conditioners, only two rooms we gave the rest away UGH!

    Works for 2 weeks then breaks

    I bought the AC on late May and start using it early July. It works well in the first 2 weeks - it cools down my 200 sqft bedroom quickly. However starting from today the compressor stops working continuously - it runs every 5 minutes and every time lasts about 30 seconds. Sometimes the compressor shuts it off with loud shaking and vibration. So the AC works as AC 10% of the time, and as a normal fan 90% of time. As a result the AC cannot cool down room temprature anymore - after 2 hour running it is still 84 degrees. I will see if the warranty or support will have the problem fixed.

    This is a terribly inefficient A/C. My room is much smaller than 400 sq ft and this A/C at max settings can't even cool it down to 85'F when it's 95'F outside. It is very loud too, there's absolutely no way someone can sleep while this is running, even at the lowest speed. Also it started to smell bad after one use, meaning that mold and bacteria is probably growing in it. I am looking for Best Buy to contact me for return information as I am extremely dissatisfied with this product.

    Read about this problem AFTER I bought it and had the same problem! the unit stops shortly after starting B/C the (small?) reservoir fills up in less than an hour! ran it three times thinking maybe I had it on dehumidifier (dry) mode but I didn't! regular AC mode does it. hooked up a hose to it (as shown in directions) and had same problem B/C the hose filled with water and the unit doesn't push the water up the hose and out either! poorly designed product! too bad! taking it back for a different brand now....

    Cooling function stopped working after a year

    This thing actually worked pretty well for the first year I had it. Then suddenly yesterday the cool function completely stopped working. Extremely disappointed that it failed a couple weeks after the 1 year warranty expired, especially now that summer is here. Stay away from this brand!

    The day I ordered this product, it was listed as having a "heater" too. I am handicapped so I had it delivered and someone lifted it upstairs. I was stunned to see no heater. I had to saw panel to make it fit the window because the slat covered the vent. The instructions on the Insignia website did not match this item exactly., so uou are on your own.

    I installed the AC unit and after a couple of hours it stopped working. Had to get the online manual because it didn't come with one. Instructions said that the water container needed draining. I did, an hour later, same thing. It did that a few times before I just gave up. Returned it the next day.

    No Auto Temp Control? What?

    Just runs all the time. I have no idea what the thermostat is for because it never shuts off once the room is cooled. I think maybe the compressor shuts off but the fan just runs non-stop. I found it hard to believe but then I read another review saying the same. It has a timer instead.

    Fact! Insignia is a BEST BUY Co, brand! If you don’t mind a portable AC that lets out a gallon of water every 4-5hours yeah picture that! Your home floor will be damaged guaranteed! Avoid this nightmare

    This did not cool the area for which it was purchased (which is not that large an area). It also is very large and uses a lot of energy. My old window unit works a lot better.
