We have owned this freezer for a year now and it has worked well with no issues. It is a great size to keep in our garage. We buy meat in bulk so we need extra freezer space. I have back issues so reaching down into a chest deep freeze is not ideal. This is easy to use. You can see your items easily.

We needed an upright freezer to replace the one we had that died after about a year. We prefer uprights for a couple reasons - the space we had was tight and wouldn't fit a chest freezer and chest freezers make it difficult to get the food further down inside it.
Out of the box, the freezer didn't look flimsy or cheap like some inexpensive freezers. It's about half the size of a normal refrigerator/freezer combo, which was perfect for the space. The cord was long, there were plenty of shelves inside it, and it cooled down very quickly. Some people that reviewed the freezer didn't like the strong magnets holding the door shut, but I vastly prefer this to the alternative - you want a freezer that you know will close and stay closed. A slightly harder tug is a rather small price to pay for knowing your food isn't going to thaw out on you.
After about a month of using the freezer, it's still going strong. It's cold, quiet, does it's job, and we couldn't be happier with it so far.

Pretty Darn Happy with this Purchase

I have had this upright freezer a month and so far no problems. I live in a mobile home and bought all new kitchen appliances a year ago, but because of needing a fridge/freezer counter depth I was extremely limited in selection so ended up with a very small bottom freezer in the fridge I purchased. I was finding this to be inadequate so I researched standing freezers for a tight spot I had available and this Insignia had consistently good reviews, while the Igloo had consistently bad reviews. After making sure it would fit I ordered it at my local Best Buy from a great manager who really understood customer relations. It was delivered on Friday the 13th and I was a bit superstitious. That afternoon my neighborhood had a power failure due to an accident. Power was returned about 2 1/2 hrs later and the freezer was continuing to get to freezing temp; I was very impressed. Then I went to Costco and filled it up. Within 2 hrs I was notified that the power for the mobile home park I live in was going to have to turn off power for 12 to 20 hrs. Oh no! But this little champ performed great. I didn't open the door until the next day (the power came back on after 10 hrs) everything was still frozen in the Insignia, but in my fridge, the freezer was starting to melt ice cubes. It is very quiet and has well placed (but non-movable) shelves. I am finding it really handy and it has solved a big problem for me. The height between all but 2 shelves is 9 1/2 inches and it is about 7 1/2 on the bottom (which is more like a half or 3/4 depth shelf), and the very top shelf is only about 2" from the top (probably for air circulation but I put 2 ice packs on that shelf and my themometer.) For reference, you can put one of Costcos frozen Pizza boxes of 4 pizzas) easily on the shelf but its just a bit shy of being able to stack 2 of those boxes, plus there is free room on the side for something else. My one problem was the plug in cord. Before it was delivered I bought a new 9' appliance grade, grounded extension cord and was so proud of myself for thinking of that ahead of time. It needed to be plugged into the sole outlet that the fridge is plugged into (on the other side of a wall). It was long enough, but both the upright freezer and my fridge had 3 prong plugs that only fit into the plate in one direction (with the cord coming from the bottom), so I could not use the top socket. I was able to make it work in a different socket but now the extension cord is very obvious. I believe the cord that is attached to the freezer is about 59".

Needed some extra freezer storage space and found this to be perfect. I wasn't trying to spend much money and needed something upright so things don't get piled up on top of each other. This is perfect since the top rack can hold trays of ice cubes or even extra ice cream bars/popsicle sticks. The rest of the shelves are evenly spaced out so everything fits great. The freezer itself fits great next to some extra pantry racks in the basement. I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for additional space. If you have a decent sized fridge/freezer, this a great add on size. If your regular freezer is small and your looking for a lot of space, I recommend you get the next size up. Other than that great deal for a great price.

I was looking for a smaller freezer for my limited space and this one is perfect! I like the shelves so I dont have to dig for items in a chest freezer. It's on wheels so I can move it around for cleaning. Working great!

This is a small upright freezer which suits me fine. Chest freezers get too crowded and make things hard to find. Having an upright makes things much more simple. Took it out of box, rolled it into place, plugged in and started using. The only thing I don't like is the door seal is so tight that the freezer tips when you try to open.

I needed a small upright freezer in which I could place
my meat in some type of orderly fashion. It is a perfect size to fit in my kitchen. I love that it has five Shelves because it makes it easy to organize the contents of the freezer. It is very quiet as well

I have had this freezer for about 1 month now and it works great. We got a great price on it. Its very quiet and convenient since it stands up no bending down to retrieve items and you can see everything. Great freezer for the price.

It is a good value for the price. It does not take up a lot of space. It is right side up and things are at your eye level. You can separate the items instead of lumping them on top of each other.

Love this freezer! Perfect size and easy to set up. We put it it in the basement. Doesn't take up a lot of space and super quite. So far, no issues with frost build up. Have had it a couple months.

We needed to replace a larger upright which worked but seemed to run all the time. We discussed replacement and agreed we needed something smaller but did not agree on upright vs chest. Looked on line but couldn't find a smaller upright so we walked into Best Buy willing to look at a chest freezer. Well we immediately found this upright and purchased it. When we got home I immediately changed the swing of the door. Reading the directions it looked like a big job but once I got into it it all made sense and ended up being quite easy. We have now had it over a month and it fits are needs quite well. I found that it is big enough for us and easy to

The freezer is very good for a second freezer and for a garage. It is small and will take up very little room but does a good job of freezing food. Because it is upright you can always see what is in it...unlike a chest freezer.

We were looking for a small freezer to supplement our bottom freezer which can't handle things like large pizzas or Christmas hams. This does it all! The shelves are stationary, yet generous. There is a narrow top edge that holds all the ice packs for us (or a pizza) the shelves themselves are white heavy duty plastic edges with white coated wire centers.(narrow gaps so nothing falls through) giving a clean look overall. This freezer has worked perfectly for us, even being in the garage in the heat of a southern summer! I don't have it set to max (3/4 of the way) and the ice cream is rock hard. Our utility bill is running about $2.50 more per month. In all, we are happy the we found this unit! (We had to ask about it; there wasn't anything on display to let us know BB sells small freezers)

We got rid of a very old very big freezer that had been in our garage for over 20 years. The kids are grown and gone so we no longer needed all the space. This freezer was very reasonably priced, the perfect size for 2 people and is very quiet. We put it in a spare bedroom and it is great there! Also the electric bill has gone down.

Freezes great with no frost. Door is so air tight, it can be hard to open, but that is good. Great smaller freezer for the price.
