I bought this TV right before Christmas for my parents and the quality is amazing for such a bargain price. It made watching Christmas movies with the family much more enjoyable! This is their first smart tv and they have been so happy with how accessible everything is.

    Great Picture, Tricky Setup

So this TV has a great picture. The problems I ran into was setting it up with my existing equipment. Keep in mind that what Im about to write is not necessarily the TV's fault but a communication between old and new hardware. So my current setup looks like this: - The new Insignia 4k HDR 50" HDTV - Apple TV 4K 32gb - Sony BDP-S3700 1080p Blu Ray Player - Klipsch R-15PM Speakers - Harmony 650 Universal Remote Im using all new 4k Dynex HDMI 6ft wires and a new Amazon Basics Fiber Optic Cable. I was getting a mix of no sound and/or no picture on all inputs, including using the RF Coax connection to scan HD cable channels. the settings that fixed my issues was changing the HDMI Picture setting from HDMI 2.0 to 1.4 (you have to go to settings, display/sound, advanced and all the way down to HDMI). I had to set both my blu ray and Apple TV to HDMI 1.4 for my picture and sound to work. I expected this from my older blurry since its not 4k capable but not from my Apple TV since its the latest version and is HDR capable. The only downside to going from HDMI 2.0 to 1.4 Is a 30fps max. Also I changed the audio output settings to PCM and shut off the tv speakers. I would have wished this TV was just plug and play but I guess that's what I get for not upgrading some gear. All in all im still happy that I got this tv. Oh one thing I forgot to mention, I couldn't program this tv work work with my current Harmony 650 Universal remote so I type in my older insignia 48" model number and it works fine but doesn't give me the option to program HDMI3 since the older model only has 2 HDMI inputs, Im replacing this harmony remote with a much newer one in hopes that it can be programmed to work with the new Insignia tv. I would recommend buying this tv for the simple fact that it has a great picture and if your not doing crazy hook ups it will suit you just fine.

Quality/price ratio is great on this one. Didn’t expect such a great TV for the price. This is by far the best TV I ever had, and I had a lot and not cheap ones from leading brands. Controls are to the point, easy to set to your preferences. Didn’t have to change much though. I only tweaked the sound a bit, to boost the base a bit. Which btw is another good surprise that it lets you to control the sound spectrum. Built-in sound is good, the quality of picture wonderful. Smart TV based on Amazon Fire lets you control it with your voice through the mic on remote. All streaming works great if you have broadband internet. It also has a built-in tuner for TV from the air, I got an antenna for about $13 and it tuned to 30 high quality free digital channels from the air. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

I read a lot of reviews on best buy and amazon trying to decide between toshiba and insignia brands, so I went with insignia for the price. I felt it was best to go for the one on sale than those that cost at least $100 more. While I was at the store, I saw someone walking out with this exact product I had bought, so I was reassured it was popular in my area. It has been a couple of hours now after setting up the TV in my home theater and I've experienced no issues at all. I was impressed with the size and it fit on the table I had, I would think if I had gone for 55" or larger it wouldn't fit; considering the small size of my apartment. The larger TVs should be placed in a large living space, this TV was for my bedroom. I could see more details from my bed while streaming from HBO, like make-up and wrinkles clearly. I saw some bad reviews saying that the screen was cracked and it was buggy. This is only because they ordered online and then asked for it to be shipped, which makes it the shippers fault, I wouldn't take those too personal. I bought mine directly from the store and brought it home myself. As for the buggy part, expect at least an hour setting everything up. Don't complain about your thumb hurting from typing things, you're going to have to do it on every new device anyway. I would suggest putting your main cable box that has internet near the TV to minimalize bugging. Please remember that some people can never be happy about what they have. On another note, there are screws and batteries included in the instruction booklet. I didn't realize it was there until after I turned the TV on. If you are by yourself, place the box flat on the ground and use your feet to hold the box in place while pulling it out by the bag. The only complaint I have is the sound being a bit soft and I needed to buy some speakers. I noticed that the app store did not have cinemax. Otherwise, a great buy if you're on a budget and would like to stream movies! Highly recommend!! I will update this review in the future if I am experiencing any issues within the first few months to let you guys know.

We purchased this TV through an early Black-Friday sale... and were not disappointed at all. The picture is great and the sound is far better than the TV we replaced. I did notice the volume is slightly louder using the Fire TV vs. the cable box, but in all its a great set and - for the price ($279) - we now have a beautiful 50" TV standing on top of our fireplace.

This Tv is amazing. Very fast and responsive. Lots of good apps. Amazing sound and picture. Easy to connect. 1 downfall is putting the legs on the bottom, very tight space and tiny screws. Other then that it’s amazing

Very pleased with this item! For the price and size you can’t go wrong whatsoever purchasing this television. We had of been a Roku family up until purchasing this smart TV which has Amazon fire installed on it and I’m telling you that as soon as I can I am switching everything over to the fire stick in our house because the layout is so much better than Roku, I absolutely love it. This TV is super loud, our last TV we had to have our sound bar hooked up to it and always have it up to 15, But with this TV we are not using the sound bar and have the TV at about 3 or 4 most of the time because the sound is so great. The picture is wonderful and I couldn’t be happier. I do recommend this television.

Probably my favorite tv I've owned. Love the ease of operating it. It may have helped me a little by previously owning a fire stick, but I feel like anyone could figure it out. The Sound is surprisingly good for having the speakers on the back (like most). I do have some bluetooth computer speakers that the tv automatically connects to every time without any hassle, so I'm sure nicer surround bluetooth speakers would work well too. This is the second smart tv I've owned (previously a Samsung) and the technology in this tv seems like it will keep updating, and won't be quickly left behind like my other tv.

Quite surprised with the picture quality and ease of use. Bought this as a present for daughter in college. Was looking for a smaller Smart TV in a name brand but the Christmas sale for this TV was too good to pass up and it has performed well to date and has an outstanding picture. The only negative is that we tried to attach additional PC speakers that we used on old tv but it did not work with external speakers and tv speakers. TV speakers are not bad though. So far I would recommend this TV for anyone. This thing will push the name brands in picture quality in my opinion on their regular mid-line 4K TVs at half the cost!@@

Being a senior, was not looking forward to the hook-up procedure. This Tv could not have easier to get going. Hooked up the HDMI cables from the old TV to the new one, plugged in the optical output from my receiver to the TV, plugged the TV in , turned it on and there it was. Very easy to use remote. Signed into my Amazon account, Netflix account and that was it. Replaced an older Samsung 50" Plasma, by the way, was 3 times the weight of the new one. Picture quality is very good but I guess that depends on your server. Really enjoying the access to U Tube. Still working on the other features. Voice remote is great also.
