Very good but a whisker short of great

Our 48" TV developed a shadow that was annoying, so I did a quick dive into Best Buy. Found this model for under $220. It is good, but not great. Good picture, no lag on quick action such as football/basketball games, all basics are covered. The remote is actually the Achilles' heel of this unit. The volume control buttons are on the left edge of the remote - annoying for making quick volume changes. And the remote is really slick - again, a nuisance when navigating, The other annoyance is trying to bring in closed captioning. Still trying to figure that out . . . All in all, a very good value if you are not a tech geek who needs the latest/greatest features.

Great tv for value…but,
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great tv love the firetv built in but be aware if your remote batteries are dead tv will not turn on. I thought my tv was defective my batteries were low first tv would not connect to internet when i went to reset it completely went black (screen). I did a hard reset then it would not turn on. I changed the batteries but not fresh ones and tv would still not turn on. Five days later I thought “let me put fresh batteries in remote “ not thinking this should not affect tv not turning on i mean thats what the buttons on tv are for in case you dont have a remote. But to my surprise it turned right on. So be aware if your batteries die just pit new ones in.

Great tv for a couple years only! Read description
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV to start with idk if any have noticed the orice drop in plasmas the last couple years especially for smart TVs specifically on the FireTVs but i have had all brands of the FireTV bought from best buy for several rooms in my home simple sleek and easy to install. Now the “but”…but after a couple years overtime you begin to experience stuff with the remote or TV itself and if you have an alexa device to add to it (definitely recommend it) i start to experience really annoying things like Lag on the TV for example turn on the tv with remote it takes longer than usual using the remote to open specific apps witb the presets it tales forever at first I thought it was the remote so I programmed a new OEM remote I purchased dodnt make a difference i even upgraded my wifi modem for better connectivity ans sttill didn’t do the job. So reminder if you do buy this TV or any FIRETV brand just know it’ll be great at forst but def needs an upgrade every couple years but its so cheap anyway!

It is simply a great tv for the money! I would recommend it for a small space for sure a larger area would probably require a sound bar!

Perfect budget TV

A Good Budget/Second TV

Fire TV features give you access to all the streaming services. Remember it's not supposed to be (nor is it priced to be) a multimedia extravaganza. It's a basic TV in today's market. I use it as a monitor for church services and it works well. Very pleased.

Got worse after a couple years of use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV four and a half years ago. For the first couple of years everything was fine. Over time the mandatory updates made things worse. They started being more obnoxious with advertisements, including videos that auto-play on the home menu. Thankfully I was able to turn off the auto playing video content, but the TV itself got laggier over time. Sometimes the sound bar won't activate now when I turn on the TV -- this never happened for the first 2 years, so something about the TV got worse with the forced updates. The most annoying issue that my recent channels/inputs menus are super slow unless I frequently unplug the TV to reset it. Plus there is not even a dedicated button on the remote to jump directly to my HDMI input, you have to load a laggy menu. Image is good, my Xbox Series and PS5 games look great on here. But I won't buy another TV that is based on Amazon's ad-filled user interface with its slow performance. It is completely unacceptable for them to use such cheap CPUs that the input menu gets laggy. Again, this was not an issue in 2021 when it was new. Forcing these updates that are more taxing on the CPU is all part of Amazon's forced obsolescence to make you want to buy a new TV faster. Well, next time I won't be getting an Insignia Fire TV (or any Fire TV). For the record I always loved my old Insignia which was a "dumb" TV (no internet) and 1080p. I still have that as a backup in the bedroom. Best Buy isn't to blame, it's the Amazon UI software ruining these new TVs.

Sometimes odd audio

Both of them have this weird audio think where if you play most console games on it and then switch over to an app it messes up the audio to sound like theres interference until you restart the tv. Like go into the settings and restart it, not turn it off since that only puts stuff into sleep mode at this point. Otherwise like it works fine so far and is nice
