Amazing picture quality for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using a Samsung 52" Plasma flat screen TV for almost 5 years. It has been a great TV and I've never had any problems with it, aside from being a heat source (nice in the winter), and a significant consumer of electricity. For the past year, I've been starting to drool over the 4k LED TV's on display. So, when the Insignia 55" UHD TV became available, I had to take the dive. Installation Yeah, the box is big, but it's not nearly as heavy as the Plasma TV. The previous TV had a center mounted and rotatable pedestal as the base, which easily fit onto a small end-table on wheels. Unfortunately, the Insignia has cross-bar feet on each end, which required me to use a lengthly coffee table as a stand. A little less convenient, but it works. I have an Apple TV, a Sony Blue-ray player, and a Sony surround-sound speaker system. These were easy to attach via the HDMI ports and the audio output ports. Setup The prompted setup steps and a built-in video explaining the configuration, made this TV a breeze to set up. We went through the Wi-fi configuration, checked for and downloaded system updates, and enabled the Alexa voice control. Being able to control the channels and the TV via voice with Alexa works well. Very similar to what we were already used to with the Apple TV. Since I already have a Amazon Prime account, the configuration for the channels and movies was pretty easy. The Picture The picture quality of this TV is amazing. During the past few months we have watched a lot of HD movies and shows. Personally, I almost find the UHD resolution a little distracting as I’m checking out minute details in the scene instead of paying attention to the performance. The picture is very clear and crisp. I have noticed a couple times a very slight wavering of the scene refresh, but only during very rapid movement in the scene and it wasn’t enough to distract. With the plasma TV, there was no problem with being off to the side and enjoying the picture. With the Insignia, the best view of the screen is straight on and just slightly off of center. Viewing from a 45 degree angle is fairly poor since the colors seem to fade and darken. A few Minor Issues There does seem to be a slight processing delay with sound and video with the external devices. I first noticed this with the sound. We had a slight echo of the sound between the surround sound speakers and the built in TV speakers. This disappeared when we turned off the TV speakers (an easy to find setting). We also encountered a slight timing delay between sound and video when watching a movie from the blue-ray player. While I would have thought the sound would lag behind the video, it is actually the video lagging behind the sound. At first it was around a half second delay. After playing with the settings and switching the display settings to Dynamic, it seemed to improve, but it is still slightly off and perceivable. I plan on engaging technical support at Insignia to try and resolve. The Positives It’s a 55” UHD, smart TV, with Amazon Fire TV, and Alexa voice control, for only $400! The TV is very easy to control and the included apps Amazon Prime channels are enough for our needs. The Alexa control is a nice touch for controlling the TV AND for accessing any of the Alexa skills. “Alexa, what is the local weather report?”, or “Alexa, where can I get sushi?” I also like the simplicity of the remote control and the ability to configure it for controlling the other devices (Apple TV, external speakers, etc.) Oh, and did I mention how amazing the UHD picture is? Summary Overall, as a $400, UHD smart TV, this is a pretty good deal. It is perfect as a living-room or bed-room focused TV for general use. With the minor device delay issues and some of the refresh washing of the LEDs, I wouldn’t recommend this as a home theater TV. Thus the four stars. If the price was higher I would have dropped this to three, but for the crazy low pricing, this is a deal hard to beat.

||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tv worked fine for 2 years then a vertical line developed on the left side of the screen. I contacted both insignia and bestbuy and they would do nothing. I have has a samsung TV for 11 years and had no issues. I hope my other insignia TVs don't start to fall apart.

Smart TV, Smart Buy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.---- Summary ---- Pros: - Fire TV built-in - Voice remote with Alexa - Clear and vivid picture quality - Easy navigation menus - Fluid and quick responsiveness Cons: - None ---- Review ---- Design: Along with the TV, you will find a voice remote with Alexa, batteries, TV stand, screws to attach the stand, power cord, and the setup instructions. Setting up this TV was a breeze. The power cord just needs to be attached, then the two stand legs screwed in. Once powered on, there is a brief video overview of the Fire TV features, then you are prompted to set up a Wifi network and install an update. At a little over three inches thick, this TV is sleek, and the edge of the screen has a brushed metal finish, which is a nice touch. On the back, there are three HDMI inputs, an antenna/cable input, a composite video input, two analog audio inputs, a digital output (optical), an ethernet port, USB port, and a headphone jack. I am happy with the number of inputs and like their location. Overall, this is a well-designed TV. Picture Quality: With crystal clarity and vivid colors, the picture quality that this TV produces brings shows and movies to life, and video games look fantastic. The LED screen’s resolution is 2160p, and it has a 60Hz panel refresh rate. Whether it is movies, TV shows or video games, the 4K Ultra HD picture quality delivers an immersive and eye-opening viewing experience. Audio Quality: Although I use a soundbar most of the time, I decided to turn mine off to effectively review this TV’s audio quality. I am honestly quite impressed. I do not think it will blow you away, but for built-in TV speakers, the audio they produce exceeds my expectations. Performance: I am impressed by how fluid and quick navigation and streaming is on this TV. It is powered by a Quad-core CPU/Multi-core GPU, and I have not experienced long load times, lagging or app crashes. Before this TV, my streaming experience was subpar due to performance issues on another device, and I am happy that I no longer have performance issues. Features: This is my first TV with the Fire TV experience built in, and I am already a big fan. Upon powering on the TV, the home screen appears where you can choose from many different streaming channels or switch to another input. Everything is unified and well integrated for a seamless experience. The Alexa voice remote is an added convenience that allows you to use your voice to change channels or inputs, launch apps, search for TV shows or movies and more. Verdict: This TV has exceeded my expectations, and I believe it proves that a quality 4K smart TV can be affordable too. It is well designed, produces lifelike picture quality and impressive audio for a TV, performs fluidly, and the built-in Fire TV alongside the Alexa voice remote delivers a seamless navigation and viewing experience. If you are looking for a good 4K TV at a reasonable price, I would recommend this one.

Great tv until it wasn’t
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty disappointed, this tv stopped working after having it under 2 years. TVs usually last us a long time, we had our last one 10 years. This TV crapped out in less than tv—the display doesn’t work. You can hear it and do everything on it but can’t see anything. I didn’t pay for any added protection since I’ve never had a TV not last several years for me before. It’s on in this picture lol

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this TV in April as a tv for our bedroom only, with that being said it was hardly used maybe a few times a week. We went to turn in on the other day and the screen is all messed up. Best Buy told us it was hit with something, which we would know if something hit it. If something hit it we would take blame, We watched TV one night, then next night turned on to the screen being like the photo. We only had it 7 months and now the TV is junk with nothing we can do. I would not buy Insignia again as Best Buy doesn't seem to stand by the product and the TV goes bad in such a sort time of using it. Was a waste of money and now we're back to finding a new tv again!

TV did not last 2 years
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After two years of light use, this TV no longer works. I hardly use this guest room TV and after two years of ownership, it fails. The TV screen turns black with the audio in the background. I've reset the TV numerous times, updated to the latest software, and installed a new AC outlet and the problem does not go away.

It's Hot as Fire
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a week of using this TV it is definitely the go to station to view content. I don't watch too much TV, but I do, I binge. And with the hot buttons on the remote to go straight to HBO now, Amazon Prime, Playstation Vue and of course, Netflix, there's no reason to go to another room. I really do love this TV. It's wireless, so there's no problem with internet connectivity and it can stay updated. The remote is voice enabled with Alexa integrated so you can have that fun Alexa time that we've all indulged in. The sound is absolutely lovely The Dts Trusound makes for a great listening experience, without the need for the surround sound system. The only problem I have with this TV, is the fact that there are no buttons on the TV, itself. This means I need to take good care of my remote, buy a backup or use my echo devices to operate it until a replacement comes available. That's it only drawback to this thing. the setup was super simple and the picture is gorgeous. I totally recommend this TV to anyone ready to jump into the Smart TV and 4K world. It's hard to pass up at this price. Great work Insignia. Here's a link, as always to my online review. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oPHwvwyUC_WC5BivsW-jT6PuW3yp7h14KDBfubGUAdo/edit?usp=sharing Go get one or two of these things. Great TV, horrible remote for changing channels
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love everything about the TV except the remote control. It does not permit channel surfing. Also the back button does not take you back to the previous channel you were watching but back to the home page. The price is great, the picture is great, the sound is good. The remote for channel changing is a disaster. You can program a universal remote with a numeric pad to go to different channels and go to 25, 35, 48 etc, by punching in numbers but you cannot use the up and down channel buttons. I am giving the TV to my girlfriend who doesn't channel surf. If you are a channel surfer, this remote forces you to change behavior. The Alexa voice command is cool but is not designed for channel surfing. Trying going from channel 2 to channel 3 and it is not a one button push operation with the original remote. Here is my advice to designers: when you add more time or clicks to achieve what was once a one button push to make a change, you have failed. I would recommend this to a friend based on price and quality of the picture and sound, but would warn them about the remote which prevents me from giving it 5 stars.

Beautiful and Smart TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is well packaged. The legs are sturdy, but do require a phillips screw driver to assemble. The design is clean with a minimal bezel and a dim blue power light. I should point out that the legs are near the edges and so my old TV stand wasn't wide enough (my previous TV had a central base - not legs). The experience depends on the remote for navigating the menus and voice commands. The remote is well laid out with most of the buttons you need; it is a smart TV so there are no numbers for manual channel selection. The remote could be of more solid construction given how integrated it is, but it has survived a few drops from the couch. The picture quality and streaming experience are where this TV shines. Pictures are crisp, with good color and brightness. Most of the menu graphics and apps are beautiful. Mainstream applications like Amazon Prime video and Netflix look great. I had no issues with sound quality, but I am honestly not that picky. The loudness and clarity of the built-in speakers met my expectations. Alexa integration works well, but I did have a few issues. I never had a problem using the built in remote to control my smart switches and lights from my TV (exactly like my echo). I did have issues getting my other two Alexa devices (an echo and echo dot) to stay connected to the TV (Alexa would often ask me to check my TV's connection - this appears to be a common Fire TV issue on the forums - not just this TV). When they are talking to each other you can turn the TV on/off, control volume, and request shows for the TV without the remote (it is neat). This is my first experience with Fire TV and it does have a great selection of apps and shows. I don't like that you must search for some common apps like PBS (not included in the list of apps available on initial set up). And even after installing applications, voice search results still direct you to apps predefined by Amazon. Overall, I love this TV's picture quality and smart features.

Very good value
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, first of all...I'm a fan of Insignia products. Particularly their TV's. We already had 3 older smaller ones, and recently a 39" version of this Amazon Fire set. I do really like a lot of things about this TV. Pros: 1. Price-for the feature set that you get...you simply can't beat the price/value for this set. 55" smart TV with above average picture quality for under $300, hard to beat. 2. Streaming features-while I have not yet made the jump to 'cable-cutter', I am well on my way and this TV allows for pretty much any streaming service you want. Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, etc. All there. 3. Interface-this is very user friendly and easy to navigate from a NAVIGATION perspective (more on this in a moment..). Though there are a few settings that are a bit harder to find and manage, but really only a concern for those that are still using some sort of non-streaming service (cable, DirecTV, etc.) The long-press of the home button to shortcut to the menu is also SUPER useful. 4. Compatibility-so this is a super small point and won't matter to most anyone else, but as I still do use DirecTV (and have a receiver and a PlayStation connected too) the fact that my Logitech Harmony remote is able to control the power and volume on this is a big deal to me. (though the Logitech can't navigate anything on the FireTV menu) Cons: 1. The remote...ugh. I really with that Amazon would come up with a more functionally useful remote. Having to use the dpad to enter a PIN is annoying. Would just like something a little larger also (reads: HARDER TO LOSE!) 2. Picture-oddly enough, while the picture quality is well worth it for the price, it definitely doesn't hold up against the upper level TV's out there at some of the higher price points. The blacks are not deep enough and there is occasional pixelation around the edges of some shots. On straight up picture quality, I'd put my 12 year old LG up against it any day and the LG would still win today. In fact, we really only replaced that because we needed something bigger for our aging eyes and for the smart features. All in all, I do really love this TV because I can live with pretty much any of the shortcomings I mentioned due to the very wallet-friendly price point. Had I paid for this what I paid for the TV it was replacing ($1700+ back in 2008) we would have a different story.

An Excellent Choice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has an excellent picture whether it's 1080p or2160p. Setup was very easy. The remote is also easy to use. There are several different picture modes, as well as audio modes to fit your liking. You can also customize either one to suit your needs. Streaming videos is quick and easy, but in 4K, it takes a minute to kick in, or at least in my case because I'm doing it via wifi. The video starts out in 1080p, then goes to 4K/UHD after a minute or two. The selection of 4K movies on Amazon Prime is slim right now, but there are quite a few Amazon original series available. Sadly none of my UHD movies on Vudu or Movies Anywhere ported over to Amazon. Only the HD/HDX version did. Also a quick FYI, you will need an internet connection of at least 15 MB/s to stream 4K video. Searching for content is very easy using Alexa. Just say what you want, and you will be provided a list of options. Even if Amazon doesn't have what you're looking for, an option for other ways to watch is provided.

Best Price; Good Quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had Insignia Roku 42 Inch and loved it, but was wanting to upgrade to a slightly larger TV. Unfortunately, Insignia is being paired with Amazon for it's smart TV's now. I did not think it was that big of a deal since I would be using both to primarily get to netflix and I also have cable. Great picture quality and Price which is something I really cannot say enough about so I am not "unhappy" with product, but it has some drawbacks for me: 1. It being an Amazon Fire Smart TV the Amazon products are featured heavily in the default home screen. 2. The remote does not have a "source" or "input" button rather you can ask Alexa to switch it using the mic button on the remote to talk to her. 3. I know this is an Insignia TV and Amazon Prime was an internal "addon", but you cannot talk to alexa without the remote and pressing the mic button. For example: If your hoping Alexa can help you find a lost remote by making the remote beep or something, no such luck. 4. The default TV input can be set to the last input used, but not for example HDMI 1 which for me is cable. This means the last thing I am watching is netflix and I turn it on in the morning to watch news it is still on netflix so I have to switch it over. 5. No built in handles designed in the back of the TV to lift or carry it. This is really very minor, but never crazy about TV's that essentially make you moving it around by holding the edge of the screen. 6. The manual TV "remote" built in on TV is pretty much useless. It is one button which you can hold to turn the TV on and off. You might be able to get it to navigate to different inputs, but it is not a sure thing for me when I tried it. 7. No Composite cable hook up only AV (RCA), Coaxial, and HDMI. AV (RCA) is great for older video cameras, but composite might be needed for older gaming platforms. Composite to HDMI converters are inexpensive, but it would take up another of your 3 HDMI inputs. I would rather get Composite plus 3 HDMI inputs. In case your wondering what I need 4 inputs for, it is Blu-Ray, Cable, Chromecast, and a gaming system. 8. No "ledge" on top of TV for a camera or motion device nor any way to mount a camera or motion device on top. This really is not a "drawback", but rather a suggestion for a helpful web search feature. I would want to see inside dimension and outside dimension for the stand for the TV that comes with it. I was trying to fit the largest TV I could on a furniture stand I alreadly owned for a TV.

Awesome TV!
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this TV. The set up was simple, after it downloaded its data and the initial connecting to the wireless is was slight work. The picture is gorgeous. The first thing I decided to watch on it was Avengers Endgame 4K, it looks spectacular. There was a slight issue with downloading the app Vudu since apparently it's a 3rd party app or something like that but I was able to quickly resolve that. The remote is a tad small, but that's a minor inconvenience. The Alexa works great on the remote control. The delivery was extremely fast, got a call from the driver that he was 20 minutes away and he showed up on time and signed it off to me. Everything about this experience has been stellar. I don't see the bloated adware that other people are complaining about but this is just day 1. Should issues arise I will edit my review but out of the box and set up...this was a great purchase, no real complaints from me.

It's OK...just
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially, we were very happy with the purchase. Over time, not so much. Picture and sound are good. Set up is easy. However, the Fire TV interface takes some getting use to, is convoluted, and lacks features (e.g., flipping back and forth between 2 OTA channels). Everything is in different menus and/or sub menus. You have to remember what is in the home button, what's in the options button, and what is in the menus and sub-menus across the top of the screen. Display of volume bars is inconsistant, some content they're displayed, others not. There's no composite video output. Remote is bluetooth and conflicts arise with other nearby bluetooth devices (i.e, iPhone, iPad). Frequently have to "help" the TV "find" the remote. Without the specialized remote, you can't do ANYTHING. And yes this is our 4th Insignia, with the other 3 being why we purchased a Smart 55" TV. Big mistake, despite the sale price ($249). However, if you like treasure hunts (for finding settings) this is the TV for you!!!!

Amazing price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I snagged this 55” on sale for $249...not a huge fan of anything other than Roku, but figured I’d try this since it will work with my amazon echo in the kitchen. Easy to assemble, nice picture quality. The only thing I struggle with is getting it paired to my echo. I’ll figure it out. I will say, for those of you who don’t like the “soap opera effect” on new TVs, you can turn this option off in advanced settings. I freaked out a bit when I started watching a show and noticed immediately the weird, ultra fake looking picture that reminded me of a reality show - I haaaaate the smooth motion effect on new TVs. You can turn this off. I’m sure over time I’ll get used to the amazon features, but still have my Roku on one of the HDMI ports in the meantime. Overall, a great tv for the price! Included pics to show quality.

Decent, 55 Inch, 4K TV for the price...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy with the easy set up, quality and performance of the Insignia 55 inch, 4K TV we purchased! After doing much research on other brands, found that this one met all of our needs for the price. It doesn't have some of the polish that a similar Samsung or Sony 4K might have, but for just general streaming and playing games, it works very well. The sound from the TV speakers isn't that great though, so we'll probably have to purchase a soundbar to augment the sound. Have never owned an Insignia TV before, but overall, we're really impressed with quality and performance for the price we paid!

Picture quality is great. I game on it and it shows everything beautiful. I would buy it again. But it doesnt have screen mirroring on it. In case tht may be a reason to decide to buy this tv. Aside from this its pretty good. It does occasionally glitch a little bit. But thats how electronics go nothing is perfect nowadays.
