We have had this unit for a year. We use it in our living room/kitchen/dining area. That part of the house gets hot during the summer and the spaces are pretty open to one another—more than 550 sq ft. It holds up great as long as I turn the unit on before it gets too hot outside. I set the air conditioner between 68-70 during the night. When it’s 85+ outside, I set it to a lower temp. The temp on the unit always matches the temp on my thermostat so I know it’s working properly. I also have a couple of Vornado air circulators that I run along with it. I have turned the unit on when it’s already hot inside the house and have found that opening a window and turning on fans to get the hot air out helps to cool the room down faster than if I were to just turn the unit on. It’s a little loud, but it becomes white noise after awhile. We also own a smaller BTU one for our master bedroom and it keeps our room nice and cool. In the summer when it’s continually going to be hot, we don’t turn the units off. It stays on day and night.

We bought this to use at a vacation house that we spend very little time at. It's a little undersized for the space (we use it for about 800 square feet of space in the house), but the space receives plenty of sun through large windows, and it does a very good job of taking the edge off and making it comfortable, and reducing the humidity levels. And if we use it for just one room, it does a fine job of making a 200 square-foot room cold in a matter of minutes. We would have gone for a permanent AC system if we had a need for it more than a handful of times a year, but it's nice to have and easy to set up. The only criticism I have is that the plastic window insert is a little weak and has frayed and cracked, although not at the point where you connect the exhaust hose. The remote is intuitive and very easy to use. The unit can be a little bit loud but that is to be expected. kudos to Best Buy, I originally ordered an open box model, but it was left on the dock overnight when they were going to send it, and the manager of that store decided to send me a brand new unit because they couldn't verify that the open box unit may not have been tampered with ( a very unlikely scenario, but I appreciate their concern and customer service) overnight when it was left on the dock by the shipping company. This is yet another reason why I buy so many electronics from Best Buy as opposed to other stores.

My fiancé and I have been trying to look for a portable AC unit. We’ve found a few that were the same price as this one but the reviews were horrible. I got on my Best Buy app, and searched for portable AC unit and this one was the one I’ve been searching for! At first it was loud but now you can hardly tell it’s there. The air feels AMAZING! This is the best portable AC unit yet! Would def recommend to anyone & everyone.

Bought this unit after suffering through an extremely hot Memorial Day weekend in a my new studio apartment, approx 468 sq ft. During the last heatwave with heat indexes of over 100 for 3 days in a row, it kept my apartment comfortable. Installation was very easy, it does come with the piece to vent the unit outside, but you do need to get either a piece of tubing or a siphon to be able to drain water from the unit itself. Noise level is about the same as from a window unit.

I live in Alaska where there is no a/c in the homes, it’s usually not necessary. This year my part of Alaska has been having record heat of 90+ degrees. It’s never been this hot before. With our 20 hours of sunshine and the nights never actually get dark, we had very little relief from the sun. My house was an oven. Miserable. A/c isn’t normally available to by here. Also shipping to Alaska can be insanely expensive. Best Buy got the unit here in about a week (which is actually rather fast for large items) and the shipping was free. The unit works great. It’s loud but I guess that’s not uncommon with a/c units. It works best at keeping the room cool rather than cooling down an already hot room, but the room size has a big part in that. It’s easy to use and I like the oscillating louvers. I also like the temperature sensor readout. We are very happy with this unit.

Works great to cool down the front half my 1700 sq ft range house. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Especially the price. I bought it when it was the deal of the day. It is a little loud but I haven't found an air conditioner that isn't.

This unit puts out a large volume of cold air and effectively cools most of our admittedly small house. The sound level is noticeable, but not obtrusive. Additionally, the installation was easy, and the controls are intuitive.

Great for the price. I read reviews that said it was loud but I don't think it’s loud at all. I like that it also has a fan setting so at night it can blow in the cool air from outside. Installation was also easy.

I ordered this online when it was on sale for a great price. I'm glad I ordered it when I did because I went online to buy a second one the next day and it was already sold out. I picked it up from the store and they put it in my vehicle for me. When I got home I brought it inside and fought the urge to install it, plug it in and turn it on for 24 hours because it was 98° outside but I didn't want to risk that it wasn't upright at all times during shipping to my local store. The following evening I got it set up very quickly out of the box and it cooled down my livingroom almost immediately. It works great, I have no complaints or problems with it at all. Don't hesitate to buy this, and if it's on sale buy two.

I love this machine. My room is not fully insulated and has minor air leakage (it's an old home) but the air cools considerably and quickly, and maintains a cool temp with AC and fan working interchangeably. The hose fits perfectly on the jalousie window where hot air escapes. No hot air returns to my room. The water condenses less than a half cup for the month I used it (surprising as I live in tropical, humid weather). No drain hose needed; I just released the rubber in the back and drained the water into a cup. I bought this on sale on a great deal. I'm happy with the product and would still buy this if it wasn't on sale.

I've owned multiple portable air conditioners and this by far is the best one I've ever owned. Ironic, because at first I was skeptical about it but bought it because it was on sale and the most affordable. I've owned Honeywell, Amana, LG, and SPG and this one surpasses all of them. I've had it a couple months and it cools down my large bedroom and attached bathroom comfortably and quickly. I've heard Insignia is just an LG made appliance rebranded, and this portable air conditioner is waaaay better than the previous LG I had owned!

Our home AC went down and we purchased this portable unit until it can be fixed. We have a very large living room and this keeps it nice and cool. It is light enough that when my son came to visit, he was able to carry it upstairs and use it there without difficulty. Easy to install the exhaust hose out the window. Overall, very happy!

This portable AC unit funtions as intended. Basic funtionality but that's all I really needed. A bit noisy but if cooling down your room/apt is your only concern, I highly recommend this unit. The 12,000 btu unit does a good job at cooling down my 1 bedroom apt within about 30 mins after turning it on; it's been a lifesaver this summer.

I purchased this unit a month ago and it works as its supposed to! I put it in my front room I live in a small 2 bedroom 750 sq apartment and it cools the front room perfectly in addition if I leave my bedroom door open my room gets to comfortable temperature considering it's the thick of summer and 90 plus degrees outside. I highly recommend this unit.

I purchased this A/C not expecting much from my previous experience with portable A/C. Wow was I Surprised how effective it called my efficiency that I live in. Most times I keep it at 77 and have the fans shoot up. It works perfectly and has been keeping me cool. Highly recommend for small office or efficiency.

I’ve owned several portable air conditioners and this one is so good. The air is super cold and cools a big space fast-much better than others I’ve had. Super easy to install also.

We got the 450sq feet one and loved it so much we went out and got the 550sq feet one and now we are removing all window ac’s in our last two bedrooms and buying in these .... you can have these installed and still keep your window screens in (my wife loves this bc of bugs not being able to get in ). Well worth it

This air conditioner works well and provides plenty of cold air. Are use it in a bedroom that is probably smaller than 550 ft.² but it works great highly recommend for the price I shopped all around this was the best deal.

It’s big, it’s relatively heavy but on wheels (but if carrying up a flight of stairs be forewarned). It cools down my rather large bedroom very well, the remote control is fabulous since it does cool so well many times at 3am I’m shivering and need to turn to down, or off. I like the white, it blends in and looks clean. My brother calls it r2d2 probably due to the shape. I like these so much this is my 4th of this style (have both sizes) and 1 of the newer style. I recommend and already have to family and friends. I bought mine on sale in July 2019.

Did a quick check to make sure it was sufficient for my room and it blows very strong and cold. I Still need to install the hose in my window so i can use the AC. So far I'm loving this portable ac and can't wait to use it.
