Switched on the TV and it is stuck on very first
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not able to select "choose your language". It is stuck on the very first screen. All that the remote can do is power on and off. Not able to do anything else using remote. Very terrible user experience when u cannot setup the TV. If it is doing it now, it will do this in future too.

4k on a Budget
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Things I love - The price I paid. I bought it on sale when it was only $250. The day after I bought it they raised the price. But I think $250 is an amazing deal, and I can't find anything else that comes close at this price. The current price is $429.99 as I write this review. (for the 55" one) - There is a microphone in the remote. The inexpensive rokus don't have the microphone, only the very expensive ones do. - There are soooo many apps for it, the more I research it and the deeper I research the more and more I found out this can do. Like, you can download full games like GTA vice city on it. And you can sideload .APKs from the internet made for Android apps. - Perfect inputs. 3 HDMIs is plenty when you have smart features built in. And I like that it has a normal composite, and doesn't make you use an adapter like some smart TVs. - The menus are buttery smooth. I thought Roku was smooth, but this is just slightly snapier and quicker. And it's night and day compared to other "smart TVs" - Love that they let you pause antena TV, live - The SlingPlayer app on FireTV has more features than the SlingPlayer app on Roku and lets you type in channel numbers and change the settings from inside the app. - Super securely packaged during shipment, they double boxed it, and there was like pieces of wood around the edges to protect the box. Small things I don't love - The home screen should be more customizable, they show a lot of stuff that I don't care about and would like to move around everything however I want. Like why can't I put an HDMI input in my favorites? - The home screen has ads on it, mostly for amazon prime videos - The remote has buttons I don't use like HBO and PS-Vue - When the screen shows dark scenes, they look blocky, sort of like JPG compression. - I don't think there is any way to cast a youtube video to the TV from my phone. Roku has this feature and most smart TVs do. - The TV has a little light at the bottom of the screen, even when the TV is turned off. A random LED light is annoying if the TV is in a room that you sleep in. - There is only 4GB built in. This is enough for the vast majority of people. But if you want games, you can easily fill that space, and it would have cost them next to nothing to just double that 4GB to 8GB. - When customizing the input names, they don't let you pick a custom name. They only let you pick from a list that they selected for you. One of my HDMIs is connected to my computer, why is "Computer" not an option for an input? - The default sound settings were pretty bad. Like people talking would be really quiet, and then any music would sound really really loud. I messed with the setting and got it better, but it's dumb that it's set badly by default. - There's no hole for a kensington lock. - My Roku had a button on it that you could press and it would make the remote beep so you could find it if missing, I wish this had that feature, but it doesn't. My Roku also had a hole for headphones and this doesn't, but honestly I never even used that, so not a big deal. - There is no YouTube TV support. I don't use this, but it'd be nice to have as an option in the future.

Great TV for the $199 price; Only minor complaints
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A few nit-picky complaints, but overall, it's a great TV for the $199 black Friday price. Would buy another if it were still on sale. The first issue is not directly related to the TV, but to the Best Buy experience and customer support. I contacted Best Buy customer support before Black Friday to ask when it would be available for purchase online. I was told "this is a door buster sale that will only be available in stores". Luckily, I checked back later on the site and saw it available for purchase online. I purchased and it was delivered a few days later, however the free Echo Dot was not included. I contacted customer support, waited on hold for 20 minutes before getting an answer. The rep looked at my order and said "actually, the echo dot is not included in your order". It was in the cart at checkout, but apparently deleted itself during the checkout process. He did not know the Dot was supposed to be included in the black Fri deal and was asking for screen shots or some kind of proof that it was supposed to be included. He finally transferred me to another rep (and another 20 minutes on hold) and this rep was not very familiar with English. Could not understand a word she said. Finally she put me on hold (again, ANOTHER 20 mintues or so)...Finally, a 3rd rep answered and she spoke great English and seemed knowledgeable. She was aware of the black Fri deal including the Dot and had one shipped to me without any questions asked. Could have saved a lot of time and trouble if the other reps would have been knowledgeable of their own Black Fri sale. Now to the TV: The picture looks amazing, as long as you're streaming high def. content. Upscaling old standard def. content does not look the greatest, though admittedly this is the first "big screen" TV and not really sure that any other TV could upscale standard def to this size any better. Colors are good, image is crisp on HD content and there's many adjustments that can be made. The apps also load fast. There is a lot of "bloatware" apps and advertising on the home screen that is not useful and distracting, but you learn to ignore it fairly quickly. I'll also echo other reviews complaining of no number pad on the remote making you have to manually scroll through every over-the-air or cable channel to find the station you want rather than simply typing it in. For that reason, if your primary interest is over-the-air or cable, this may not be the ideal type of TV for you. This unit is designed with primarily streaming apps over the internet in mind. Another issue for me is the image adjustment settings (contrast, color, etc.) only apply to video and only of certain format types. You cannot adjust these settings for the app backgrounds. So if you're using a web browser app to view websites, the images on the site are washed out and adjusting the picture settings will not change anything whatsoever. I've also found the settings do not apply to certain types of video, too. For example, I use an app that allows me to view the RTSP video streams from my security cameras and the picture is washed out and cannot be adjusted. Other video formats (such as Youtube videos) will take your custom picture settings correctly and allow you to perfect the image. My hope is that with future firmware upgrades, the picture settings will be expanded to include adjustments for more types of content. Also, like many modern TV's, the screen is slick rather than matted, so any lamps or other lighting in the room will glare off the screen if not positioned just right. The brightness/contrast does vary a bit depending on the angle you are looking the TV (ie. it looks brighter from the side than it does directly in front of the TV), but it's not really significant enough to be too bothersome. The inputs on the back are a little difficult to see and reach and will usually require moving the TV to get to them. Not a big deal for a one time setup, but if you plan to plug in new inputs frequently, you'll either want room to walk behind the TV or a full motion wall mount where you can swivel the TV around. Also note, it will take 2 people to install or move the TV. I'm a fairly big/tall guy and thought I could do it by myself since it's light weight (around 30 pounds or so). But I quickly found out it's very bulky and hard to feel you have a safe grip on it unless you have a person on each side to balance the load. All this said, it's still very much worth the $199 price I paid for it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to do serious 4k streaming on a budget; You won't be disappointed. But, if you only want to do a little streaming and mostly stick to over-the-air or cable TV, then perhaps you would be better off with a non-smart TV and plugging in a separate fire stick or Roku.

Insignia...Im a fan
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a fan of insignia for a while and was extremely excited when i was able to purchase this tv on black Friday for 199. I was able to get it online however I could not pick it up until about 2 weeks later which truly wasnt a problem. A month after owning the TV the volume started going out like others have said but the CS was extremely helpful sent the replacement part and Geek Squad right out. So far so good. Now the good stuff the picture quality is excellent especially for the price. I love the built in Firetv. Overall i love the TV only gave it 4 stars because of the volume issue.

Great for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this 4K TV as a Christmas door buster and had no illusions that it would somehow match the performance of an $800 set. It is replacing my 2006 Hitachi 42” plasma 1080i set. I love the picture. It even makes the 720p content from my cable streaming service look far better than it did on the old set. It is possible that the sound was a little better on the old set because it seems that the recession on background music distorts slightly. It isn’t enough to be jarring, but I will have to play with audio settings about it. I am getting used to how the set merges all my content onto the Fire interface; with the old set I had to change inputs constantly. At first, I felt like I was surrendering some control, but I am adjusting. I do wish it had a few things I am used to; for example, I can’t seem to find a signal strength and quality meter for my OTA channels. The 2006 set also had the Picture in Picture feature which allowed me to follow a football or baseball game while watching a regular TV show. I miss that a little, but nobody makes TVs with that feature any more. Let me close by saying that I was willing to take a chance on this budget set because I bought an Insignia 1080p set for my college age son a couple of years ago and was very pleased. I was more comfortable trusting this purchase as opposed to the Black Friday door busters available at other stores.

Easy set up
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this because of price and got lucky on Black Friday (brown Thursday). Only had it a week so hard to determine if it will last. I've had good luck with insignia so wasn't too worried about DOA. The store was helpful and issue free during purchase. I've never had a 4k or a smart TV so there is a small learning curve, but mainly because the remote, being a fire edition TV, doesn't have numbers on it. A bit of a pain to have to go to menu to change channels, but, by no means, a deal breaker. Sound sucks, just like every other tv on the market and to be expected. Picture looks great and haven't calibrated it yet. Forza horizon 4 looks very realistic if that helps. So far, very happy with it!

Good TV, Twitchy Alexa Interface
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So let me start out by saying the picture quality on this tv is fantastic! It's bright, vibrant, and has just the right amount of adjustment available to dial in a screen tone that is just right for the viewer. The size is great as well, with it not being so big that it's hard to see everything on the screen at once, but not so small that you're squinting with your glasses on while watching. The location of the wall mounting points on the TV are a little low for my liking, and didn't give me confidence that the TV won't want to tip forward slightly when mounted on the wall. There are other manufacturers that place their bracket mounting points more towards the center of the TV, and it would have been nice to see Insignia do that here. My biggest gripe with the TV is more with the fire interface. This TV came with a free Amazon Echo Dot. Both devices work great by themselves, but keeping them paired and cooperating is a challenge. About twice a week, I have to unplug both the TV and my echo dot in order to keep them working. For example, after a tedious amount of setup and syncing through the Alexa app, the echo dot can power on the TV, control volume, open apps, pause movies and shows, etc. However, at least twice a week when I say "Alexa, turn on fire tv" I get the dreaded "device not supported" response instead of her saying "okay" and turning on the TV. Resets via a power cycle typically fix this, however I have had to completely unpair the devices in the Alexa app and repair them, which is a little bit of a process on this TV compared to other Alexa-compatible devices. I would like to see some firmware updates in the future remedy this. If you're like my family and have a small child, you'll understand the convenience of using Alexa for these functions, as the remote control for the TV tends to go missing quite frequently. All said and done, I would recommend this TV. I will update this review in the future if I come across any further issues with the device.

Known issues by manufacture but BB is fixing it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought on Black Friday 2019. It was a limited release via BB exclusive. After on a while, the tv turns the speakers off. According to the manufacture and Geek Squad, it's a known issue they are in the process of fixing. To fix it temporarily, I've had to plug an aux cable into it for a few seconds and then remove it or use bluetooth speakers. Overall nice tv for price. Should be fixed within a week via Geek Squad for free. I'll give a new update when it's been fixed.

Black Friday sale
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on Black Friday, great quality picture, set up is fairly easy, best value for size and package , con the volume cuts in and out, we thought it was the remote but it’s the tv that randomly spazzes out, called Best Buy they said to return or have a tech come out to try and fix issue

Great tv for the price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd Insignia tv. I actually still have all three and they work, though the 42” LCD from 2007 is showing it’s age. The FireTV in this model works great and is snappier than a stick. Screen quality is clear and the colors are great. I don’t watch a whole lot of tv when college football is over so for the money this is a great tv. Would definitely recommend. Only reason I wouldn’t give it a 5 star is because of the 60hz refresh rate.

Awesome TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Insignia Fire TV. I also have the 55 inch. I bought this on Black Friday and couldn’t be more pleased. The picture is great. I adjust my picture settings using tv rtngs recommendations. The sound that the tv produces is impressive. I have no need for a sound bar at this time. I like the fire tv os. I would strongly recommend this television to anyone in the market for a smart tv this size.

Great Quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love everything about this tv. The apps, color and sound are really good quality. The only thing that I'm really upset about is that I will not work with an Alexa Dot. This is upsetting because the tv came with an Alexa and I'm not sure why it they would do that promotion if they cant be used together.

Great 4K TV!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We scored on this purchase on Black Friday...for $199! I figured for the price, I'd give it a try. Compared to my old 50 inch 4k Samsung 6 Series, this TV was much easier to set up and much more vivid. I am super impressed and love that it includes the Firestick, built in. I have access to all of my channels and apps, and using the voice remote that came with it, is just perfect and easy to use. Even at full price, this TV is worth it...but the fact I was able to purchase it at a great price makes it an even greater TV. Funny, I went back to return my Firestick (purchased for the old Samsung) and noticed a lot of returned TVs...but this one was not amongst them! You will not be disappointed.

Speaker Problems - Please up vote to help people!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a (fixable) problem with the Speakers randomly shutting off on this TV... and Customer Service is NO HELP Sometimes the TV will think that there are headphones plugged into in AUX port and the TV will shut the Speakers off. Turning off and on will not fix this issue. TO FIX THE ISSUE - Just plug in some headphones into the AUX port on the right side of the TV... Then unplug them. Speakers will return to normal. While this isn't permanent, it should fix the issue for several weeks before needing to repeat the process. Minor annoyance, otherwise this is a FANTASTIC TV @ a great price.
