    Subpar picture/sound

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

If you’ve never owned a LED Tv, this will at first look decent. Compared to other models, it’s really subpar. I own a TCL R617 55” as my primary tv and the difference is stunning. I spend one or two wknds a month at relatives and bought this for there. Especially in picture. Some programs look barely decent, but most lack clarity, are over saturated, fuzzy, etc. I don’t watch any action/sci-fi//special effects on the insignia, only watch docus/comedies/news here. Sound, even for the very low bar of smart TVs, is also horrendous. Tinny, sibilant, etc. Plus, it’s so loud that you rarely go over 20-2. Plus, annoyingly, if you wanna mute it flashes “MUTE” and you can’t turn it off. Only positive is amazon fire, but that’s no better than Roku. And that’s negated by bestbuy’s short 15 day return policy; plus, when returning, you’ll probably have to deal with attitude and shaming by the reps there. O Ot a year after purchasing am strongly considering buying an upgrade, even for 1-2 wknds a month. Pay the extra money for a better TV if you can.

How to fix the speaker short on Insignia 58 inchTV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had my Insignia 58 inch TV for a year. It was bought for 200 dollars on black Friday. The sound cuts out to the speakers. Putting a stereo plug in the speaker out jack will break the short or whatever it is, but the problem will creep back again soon. I have found the only way I can use the TV without this problem is to leave the stereo plug in the TV for 8 hours at night and remove the plug in the morning. It took me 11 months to find this out. The speakers can distort and rumble. I put a few drops of isopropyl alcohol in the speaker out jack and moved the stereo plug in and out a few times, then dried out the area with a fan directed at the speaker out plug for 20 minutes. I don't have that awful speaker bass rumble that I had before. The Best Buy techs mention putting a stereo plug in the speaker jack for the audio problem but you will need to keep that plug in there overnight and pull it out in the morning.

    Black Friday Nightmare

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We purchase this tv after waiting 4 hours in the cold on Black Friday. Once home, we open it, setting everything up and went to power it on to only find out the screen was damage out of the box. We manage to get to the store the same night to return it. Of which the management did not want to saying things like because it was a limited sale item they cant return it. Finally the store manager overrided the previous 2 managers and they had one left that never got picked up. So with that being settled, 2 weeks after using our new TV the tv speakers would just randomly just stop working. Sometimes it would fix itself quickly. Other times it needed a reset, but more recently it needs a full on power cycle. This TV has been a nightmare and since we purchased this TV on a lease we have very limited options.

The picture quality is fine, seemingly no issues there, but the sound has been a nightmare. Using a sound bar with HDMI, it would cut out after 20-30 mins and not come back on unless you turned the TV off for a while. Sound settings would be greyed out, so I couldn't adjust things most of the time. Tried a second sound bar via optical and it seems to work after playing with the settings 100 times. You can't log into the Prime Video app with a different account than the one you're signed into just to use the TV. I never use the TV because of all the trouble, but it's already saying I'm running out of storage space. If you pause a show, the TV turns off very shortly afterward with no option to change the timer setting. This TV is trash.

I honestly don't know how this TV got such good reviews. Those people reviewed this product too early! Onwards to mine and my wife's experience. We have owned this television for approximately 1 years and at first the tv was awesome! I do agree with that but after two years of ownership the processor/RAM began to slow down. For instance, the TV's apps buffer a ton thus stopping our shows and videos from playing. Then sometimes the apps wouldn't open at all so we had to force close the app and clear the cache to try and get the app running again and that was hit and miss sometimes and now we are beginning to experience sometimes the audio would go out for a minute or two and come back, we don't have any kids nor any company to be around to have an attempt of damage it and all of this is happening. We are highly dissastisfied with the product and will never be buying Insignia's products nor will we be recommending them. I guess we lived up to the saying on this one: "You get what you pay for."

I bought this TV on black friday in 2019, it is only 3 years old and now I have a black screen with sound. I did soft and hard reset, to no solution. Called Insignia Tech support, after doing the same reset while the tech on the line, no solution, instructed me to call a local tech for service and repairs, it wasnt worth the expense. I have never had the experience for a TV to go bad in 3 years, my last experience with another brand lasted 8 years. I asked the tech to reach the supervisor if they can offer some discount to replace with newer models, supervisor wasn't available they will call back and they never did. Learned my lesson and will stay away from this brand next time.

Same as everyone else - sound goes out for hours

I bought this TV as a Christmas gift for my Grandparents on Black Friday. I thought they were just having issues understanding how to use it, but then I saw the reviews (of course there were none when I bought it). Sound issues started a couple weeks after they got it, first a few minutes, now it goes out for hours at a time. Called and was instructed how to reset which fixed it for a couple weeks but now same issue. They are coming to "fix" it, but I am skeptical if that will be permanent. Since I bought on BF the return window ended on January 14th, so by the time I found out about the issue it was too late. Really wish they would be willing to let me return so I can buy a better TV considering all the negative reviews...

Bought the tv on Black Friday cause it was a good deal. Everything was working fine until the next day. The Audio was not working. I thought maybe it was a one time issue. Nope I was wrong. The tv speakers turn off and I can not turn them back on. I’ve done everything from restarting it to restoring to factor defaults. I do not know how a new tv can just have this kind of issue. I’m definitely taking it back not sure if I wanna risk it with an exchange for another tv.

    No Fix for Sound Problem

Bought this TV on Black Friday. With in two months its started giving Sound issues. Will go out for awhile after you turn it on and its the most irritating thing that you can come across during lock down. Tried to get someone in the phone during April/May but in-person repair service was not allowed due to COVID. After trying so many times I got the service scheduled. I was told they will replace the sound board. Its been 10 days past schedule but no one turned up till now, service engineers are still waiting to get the part(s). Only one more month left for 1 year Manf Warranty. It will be good if its replaced as I have problem with apps like Netflix, Youtube etc which pauses automatically every 5 minutes.

Got this as a Christmas gift. Have been using less than 2 months. 2 weeks ago, began having sound problems. Either no sound when you turn it on, requiring several cycles of powering off and on, or sound stops working while you are watching something. Very frustrating as I got rid of my other TV. Also, screen quality sketchy for shows/movies that are dark. Super disappointed and the person who gave it to me as a gift feels terrible for giving me a poor quality item as a gift.

Worst TV ever. Please donot buy it. I got this on Black Friday sale and has been facing sound issues since then. Try contacting the geek squad but no proper response. One person came to have a look at the tv, ordered mother-board again and then vanished. Had to replace mother-board on myself but that too didn’t solve the problem. Worst Best Buy experience!
