Does not work with brand new iPod and receiver

I needed to connect a brand new iPod Touch with an older receiver that didn't have USB input. After discussing the problem with a Best Buy salesman, I bought this adapter to use the headphone jack output on the iPod and connect it to Aux inputs on the receiver. It did not work. I tried the CD and Tape Out inputs on the receiver. Didn't work with them either. I tried using different speaker taps on the receiver, and none of them worked. Next, I connected my iPod to a different (and known good) receiver using USB input with a Lightning adapter cable. This worked perfectly. But when I changed the input connection to use the headphone to RCA adapter that is subject of this review--there was no output. I then went back to Best Buy, and a different salesman insisted that the adapter cable should do exactly what I wanted. I pointed out that the iPod's ear bud cable had three stripes on the headphone jack, while the Insignia only had two. The salesman said that it should still work. All I know is that the Insignia did not work with a brand new iPod and two week old Yamaha home theater receiver. I cannot say whether it was defective by design (only two stripes rather than three) or defective in manufacture--but defective it is. In this day and age, I do not know what you would do with a mini-headphone to RCA adapter cable if not to connect an iPod, iPhone or the like to an older receiver. The technology to make these properly has been around for 50 years or more. Since the adapter does not work in its canonical application, I recommend people avoid it at all costs.

Had some issues initially making my purchase but BB worked hard to make it right....and did. TV was a great deal as I got it sort of on a double sale when the temporarily dropped the price and additional $200 and then for one weekend it went down another $100. That separation is the only reason I didn't opt for the next model up. But I am for the most part very pleased with this set. Not quite as sharp as I had hoped with regular HD content but none of the 4Ks are. All you see is 4K in the store but that's not what you watch at home as there is very little content. Ask your salesperson to put some regular HD content on the screen of any tv before you purchase. And know that you can always adjust to a better picture when you get home. Store settings are not the greatest. Great set and would definitely recommend.

I was an audio major in college. These accessory cables are pretty straight forward. I bought this one for my brother so he can plug his cellphone into his home stereo. The sound quality is great so I wouldn’t worry about buying the gold plated version of something like this, there won’t be much of a difference. Make sure you buy the right length always better to have it too long than too short. You never know when you’ll need it to be longer for whatever reason. Moving furniture, different uses etc. There’s only a 1 Yr warranty where other brands have a lifetime warranty but if you treat the cable well it’ll last you for years upon years. 4 stars only because of the short warranty.

A Quick Fix for Sweet Sound

I purchased this Y-cable to patch the output of my TV into my ancient tuner (which only has stereo sound capability). Even though my receiver does not produce surround sound, using this cable I'm now able to route the output from my TV's quiet and tinny speakers into my tuner so I can enjoy a bit more clarity when watching TV or movies. My setup is old but this simple patch cable has helped prolong its life and make watching TV enjoyable. If you have an older tuner as I have, this will help you enjoy your movies and shows with a richer sound. I recommend this cable.

Great cable, needed for a rental car to have 3.5mm

I had rented a high end SUV recently, and believe it or not, besides not being able stream bluetooth audio, there was no 3.5MM plug to plug in my portable satellite radio (or phone for that matter). So, in a pinch, leaving on a 2,000 mile jaunt the next day, I was able to order this at BestBuy and pick it up, and make the trip work better with music vs. the am/fm radio. Now, if you had told me a high end SUV would only come with the RCA jacks, I'd have laughed at you.....but I now know, that you should expect the unexpected. Great cable, worked, and would highly recommend keeping one of these on hand for such situations - seems whatever is on high end cars eventually trickles down to other cars later on.

I'm not certain Insignia is a Best Buy brand or one of it's own. Like all of the Insignia products I've purchased, In this case, I again received great value for a very affordable price. As these types of cables often don't experience moving and bending, I cannot comment on reliability in a heavy lifting situation. If I needed to be constantly be plugging and unplugging, winding and unwinding these, I would opt for a better commercial cord that provides thicker shielding and tensile strength. In high end consumer systems, it would be advised to use cables specific to the ohm recommendations of the manufacture.

I recently rented a high end car (Infiniti QX-60) that didn't have a 3.5mm input....seriously. And it didn't have bluetooth streaming (also seriously). So to bring my satellite radio (portable) or play music from my phone, I had to get this cable, which it had RCA audio inputs....go figure, who would have thought. So, I bought this, it saved the trip, and it was a 2000 mile trip. So, not only was the cable good and I'll be sure to keep it for another trip if I have this same situation, but Best Buy had this in stock - thank goodness! I was able to go pick it up, and that was the night before the long trip. Thanks Best Buy!

The 1/8" stereo to dual RCA phono plugs worked. These were measured by a simple ohmmeter and followed up with real world audio tests using my Kx3 radio using dual watch functionality. The only design item, I would include is to emboss the letter "L" (for stereo left) on the white phono connector plastic moulding and the letter "R" (for stereo right) on the red phono connector. A simple way to remember is for professional audio is "R" stands for "red" or "right" or "ring". The ring on a stereo connector is the right channel, not the tip of the plug which is for the left (or mono) channel.

I have a Samsung sound bar mounted up on my wall under my TV, which it's mounted also, and I was getting tired of using hooked up the audio cable in the back because I had the one wire hangout. I wanted a blue tooth, sound bar, but my was working perfect. I have this old bluetooth music receiver, but it has RCA connections. So I went and got this baby and hooked the RCA cable to the back of the bluetooth music receiver and the other end, the aux end, to my sound bar. Ran the wire behind the TV and boom! Blue tooth sound bar! no more wires hanging from it!

yeah these have worked great for using my I-pod on my receiver. the last ones I used started to make humming noises and also made my system not work properly. it started to sketch me out cause I thought something more serious was wrong with either my I-pod or my receiver. these cured my problem. I like using these because I don't like using hdmi cables charging my I-pod constantly causing the battery to lose power over time. I charge my I-pod once then run it down with these cables till depleted. that way the battery stays strong for along time.

I recently purchased a new vehicle this past halloween (2015) and I had to buy this because the Aux card only had the AV input for it (Nissan Maxima btw) and I have purchased these before and they are a great invention, they can be used for TV's , home theater systems, tablets, cell phones, practically anything and it will convert the sound evenly into where ever they fit, To me it does not matter what the brand is as long as you buy from a brand that stands behind its product, and this delivers.

I was tired of my boring old stock car stereo, but didn't want to spend a bunch of money to buy a new head unit just to have an auxiliary input to listen to music stored on my phone. So after some research, I found that attaching this 3.5mm Mini-to-RCA Stereo Audio Cable to my stock stereo, I was now able to listen to all my music from my phone! Having the 6ft length also allowed me to route the cable under the carpet and to the location I wanted so it didn't look tacky, and give the appearance as if it was always there to begin with!!!!

For anyone who listens to tv through headphones, this adapter is a good solution for connecting to the newer tv models that don't come with headphone jacks. The problem with bluetooth phones is you can't typically get sound from both the tv speaker AND the headphones simultaneously. Until I found this optical-to-analog adapter, there was no way to hook up my Sennheiser RS180 headphones to my new LG OLED. This solid that problem for under $30.

My "old" Panasonic TV lost it's audio after about 12 years of use, and I was not yet ready to trash it and buy a more modern flat screen TV. I went to the nearest Best Buy and consulted with the Geek Squad to find out what I could do to restore the sound. They suggested that I buy a sound bar and cable and attach it to the TV to restore the sound. To my surprise, it worked! I am very pleased with the sound bar and cable, and I get to keep my "old" TV. THANK YOU GEEK SQUAD!!

Both drives seem to work well. Maybe a bit more expensive than ordering online, but that's to be expected. I had a problem using the solid state as the boot drive w/OS. I had reinstalled the OS on it and probably should have wiped it first. The computer kept wanting to do disk repair at startup. It's working good as storage now.

I went into the store with my camera and showed the sales person the photos of the back of my TV and my stereo, and he knew exactly what I needed to run the sound from my TV through the speakers on my stereo. I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to all these electronic gadgets and how they are all connected, so it's really nice to be able to walk into a store and the sales person knows exactly what you need, and right where it is. Was a pleasure!

I have a portable speaker that I wanted to connect with my TV. I checked both connections and then went to Best Buy. I asked guy at TV area for specific cable. He said they don't have it after I explained what I needed. So I proceeded to leave but saw clearance section and after closer view actually saw cable on sale so happy. Came home and cable doesn't work at all and I don't know why. Decided not to return it even though I wasted money on this.

Why there isn’t more publicity about this easy and cheap way to connect your iPad or iPhone to the speakers of your home stereo system is beyond me! This one inexpensive solution to the feeble speakers of your Apple device should be better advertised. Instead people buy yet another set of specially built speakers instead - don’t add more clutter to your life and home - get this $8 item and enjoy music, podcasts, steaming content easily .

I purchased these cables specifically for my Klipsch speakers so that I'm able to get good quality sound from my DVD movies. My DVD is directly connected (HDMI) to my 60" TV & the sound directly from the TV is good, but when adding the speakers-great. The cables are running from my receiver to the TV so I'm able to get the sound from the speakers. I gave it a 4 star because the cables were just long enough, but could've used about 1 ft. more in length.

This cord is absolutely amazing! I'm not sure how I survived without it honestly....I mean RVA cables on one end, 3.5 mm on the other-whats not to love?! Plus, it has 6 feet of travel, I can plug in a peripheral and be standing 6 ft from my stereo....the luxury is something I've not experienced before. Makes me feel like a Russian oligarch or some real estate baron! Insignia is truly making America great again with this offering. Uptown
