Problem Solved

Unfortunately, I was not told that with many of these sound bars they require a HDTV with HDMI (ARC) capability. Although her's was an HDTV with three HDMI ports, none was (ARC) capable therefore no sound! I tried everything and was told that adapters typically are not very reliable. Finally received the advise to purchase the Insignia 6' 3.5mm Mini-to-RCA Stereo Audio Cable and my daughter has been happy ever since.
