The swivel is worth the extra $

I debated getting another of the cheaper flat surge protectors or this one. I am glad I got one of these. Yes, it costs a little more, but it has better protection. However, the real selling point for me is that it allows for the holes to swivel independently. I didn't think this would be a big deal, but I put it behind my TV and it's amazing! It used to be so hard to switch out our two gaming systems and blue-ray (because I have the TV, a PC, our router/modem, sound system, and cable box taking up 5 of the 6 spots). Ok, I do wish they made an 8 plug version, but this 6 plug model is still fantastic. I can actually fit 6 plugs in it because unlike the flat types, I can have plugs that extend beyond the normal socket size (don't you hate the oversized plugs that end up hogging two plugs?) fit by extending from the 2 tops or 2 bottoms. Also, the two independent swivels make it easier to access, even behind my TV stand. It has had no problem handling the load either. I probably wouldn't get this for every spot in my house, but definitely for the game room and maybe the kitchen if you have alot of cords in a small space.

This has so far been a good product at a great price compared to similar items. As others have mentioned, its biggest downfall is the fact that once the surge protector is set in the outlet, it doesn't want to remain there if there is any movement of the cords plugged into it. It would be a much better design if the plugs that go into the wall outlet were on the top of this unit instead of the bottom with a small rubber bumper along the bottom that would rest against the wall below the outlet. This way the wall would provide the stability that the item lacks. Both wall plugs would be covered with either design so why not? P.S. If my idea is used in a redesign of the product, I will expect royalties to compensate me for the use of my intellectual property...

The fact that this surge protector isn't of a strip plug design and doesn't lay on the floor is fantastic. I love the feature where you have the choice to have the plugs face forward or off to the side. The only reason I did not give this unit 5 stars is I feel its missing a design feature which is the ability to screw the unit into the wall plug to hold it more securely. Ideal design would be one could remove the current plug's cover plate screw and this unit would have a long screw that would allow the surge protector to be held firmly in the wall plug. With that said, the unit fits well and it's not too loose but that screw would make it perfect. I highly recommend this product.

Wow! I stumbled across this plug and thought, where have you been all my life. I am somewhat of a techie, but never spend much time looking at plugs. That will change now. This thing turns a standard plug into a power strip that sits flush to the wall. Now you can move your furniture closer to the wall. I have furniture in places with so much stuff plugged in that it sits 5 inches from the wall. Now it s only 2 inches thanks to this awesome gadget. It also has surge protection and a ground indication built in. How nifty is that?

This product not only solved the problem for us of having unsightly surge protectors lying around on the floor behind furniture where no one can easily get to them, but it also swivels, which allows one much better access and to move furniture closer to the plugs themselves. Relatively inexpensive compared to much pricer surge protectors, easy to install and use thereafter, the aforementioned swivel abilities, that it is not too bad aesthetically speaking and it's able to be painted to match a wall's color, makes the purchase of this product a no brainer.

This outlet seems like a good idea, but the design leaves much to be desired. Others similar to this use metal prongs that go into both the top and bottom outlets to expand each to three outlets, making a total of 6. This only has one set of prongs so it expands the bottom outlet to 6 while the other goes unused. They have a small plastic piece that goes in the top outlet (to stabilize it?) which does nothing. It doesn't help it stay put at all. If they had put the metal prongs on top, the weight would have held it in place, but as is it keeps coming out of the outlet as soon as you plug anything with weight into it.

    Insignia™ - 6-Outlet Surge Protector

A really good and solidly built surge protector. There are plenty of outlets on this thing and I was able to eliminate two power strip surge protectors from behind my very gadget\device packed entertainment system and still have a few open outlets on this. The key to that was the rotating outlets. Why I had so many before is because of the 'wall wort' power supplies that can take up sometimes two or three outlets depending on the orientation of the wall wort and the power strip. With a little planning I was able to get all of them plugged into this unit along with the regular straight plugs with no problem

With also the turning point on it so that you can put a cabinet or a chest up next to the wall without having to have a lot of room for an extension cord to be plugged out is really good and having sex Outlets instead of only two makes it a whole lot more convenient and you can also set it in the center of your bed and be able to plug in thing from both sides and not have to worry about having to have a plug in the middle or a plug extension cord

Happened to see these at Best Buy & they worked perfect for my needs. Our builder put the bathroom outlets for each bath too close to the mirrored medicine cabinets I picked out - when they installed those, I could only use the bottom outlet of each one. After buying these, I can still only use TWO out of the 3 outlets (the bottom ones) on the left (for my cell phone & electric/recharging toothbrush), but now I have the other 3 on the right for my nightlight, curling iron & hairdryer! It looks nice, as well. Very satisfied!

I like the fact that this power tap and surge protector has a high joule rating. I was a little apprehensive that this surge protector has a warning that it should not be installed where there is not at least 10 meters (30 feet) between the electrical outlet it is connected to and the electric service panel. It seems this is true of any power tap/surge protector like this one. I think it is cool that the led for the surge protection will go out if it is no longer able to protect against a spike or surge.

This is a great little item. It turns a 2 plug outlet into 6 surge protected outlets. The added bonus is you can adjust the angle of each set of three plugs. The only down side is you can still block a plug if you have a big item to plug in. I still give it 5 stars because even if you block a couple of plugs you still have 4 left to plug into.

First off; if you're thinking of using this to string extension cords through out your house or to plug in a bunch of high power devices - hairdryers, curling iron, hair straighteners AND run them all at the same time, DON'T. This is meant for plugging in up to six low or normal draw items - think dvr, dvd, blue ray and phone chargers. Or if you're going to plug in ALL those items I listed at the beginning then run them ONE at a time.

I knew this product had to exist amateur as I'm not the only person who has damaged and replaced several phone power cords cause the couch is right against the outlet. The product performs as you would expect and does have a low and study profile. The only complaint I can think of is that since it doesn't actually engage the second outlet it still has a little wobble but once your couch is back up against it, there is no worry.

I bought it because it has multiple outlets and a higher surge protection power rating than some others that I looked at. It was priced lower than some of the other models that I considered and I also liked it because it plugged straight into the wall outlet as opposed to laying on the floor like some power strips. While it does not have an on/off switch, it seems to be doing an adequate job so far.

This product is so useful when you have so many things that need to get plugged in on one side of the room. It also swivels out of it's normal angle to accommodate cords that just can't make that 90 degree turn. It also acts as a power surge protector so I know my electronics have some level of protection without the long surge protector that I normally had at home.

The expansion unit has the left and right strips separated and able to rotate, maximizing your ability to allocate your devices in the manner that best fits the space. Particularly handy with transformer plugs that are more bulky and conflict with other devices. We bought two of these and are now up to six or seven; great for bedrooms behind a nightstand.

I have an ikea platform bed that is blocking a wall outlet i use to charge my phone. I used to go through iphone cords left and right because the bed would back into the outlet and crush the cord. with this outlet adapter, i can easily swivel it against the wall and now i no longer have damaged cords or worry about my bed being too close to the wall

I liked the way this surge protector is made, with the side entry plug-ins, ease of use for various needs, especially when the wall I need an outlet on the most, only has one and it is very had to reach. Great design and a reasonable price. Will get another one for upstairs, the Television components and appliances I need protected from power surges.

I live in a big city, where electricity is relatively stable, so I do not know if the surge protection works well or not. But it feels sturdy, and 2100J rating looks good on the spec sheet. Personally, I prefer a surge protector with a long cable to this type of protector, but this type would be more suitable for a fridge or something like that.

I have this behind a large entertainment center where there is a need for a lot of outlets but not a lot of space. I like how it turns to either side instead of straight out. That way I can have that large piece of furniture closer to the wall.
