If you don't have one of these, thats SAD!

I am a 58 year old male who likes to cook, I don't like to COOK. I don't have this exact brand, anymore, I used to until my neighbor borrowed it, LOL! I am sad I did not catch this one on sale, to replace the one I had, but the principal is all the same. A pressure/multi-cooker is the best invention I have seen in decades! They replace 8 to 10 appliances, seriously, they do! I was totally amazed at all the things you can do with these since I got my first one 2 years ago, which is still going strong over at the neighbors by the way! I was glad to turn them on to the thing last fall, just got tired of borrowing it back and forth. The thing I love most about mine. You can put 5 cups of water into it, a 2.5 LB., frozen pot roast, seasoning. Run it on "MEAT", high, setting 45 minutes. While that is going on, slice up the vegetables. When the first 45 minute cycle stops, de-pressurize, throw in the veggies, and run it on MEAT, High, for another 45 minute cycle. No babysitting, stirring, or fussing required, just do what I said and everything comes out fantastic! If you want the roast a little rare on the inside just do the second cycle on MEAT Medium 25 mins. The hilarious part is, a man cant mess up dinner, gee who knew! This is just ONE of the easy peasy things you can do with these things! Trust me, you will use it once and wonder how you ever got along with out one!

The Pot itself is very nice if you catch it on a good sale would not pay full price for this. Not crazy about a teflon pot but it is super easy to clean. somethings to stick a little to bottom but wipe right out if you clean right after. You do need mits of some kind that inner pot stays very hot. I bought as a starter appliance for my daughter who had a 3 hour commute daily into and out of Nashville hoping that it will help her get some good nutritious meals instead of take out all the time. I had her bring this home for thanksgiving so I could test it out and help her learn to use it. I cooked a few things in it over the holidays. Was a very fast way to do mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes. Thinking this takes a good deal of trial and error to get things right on other things. There are some things they don't explain about cooking with pressure, like it takes 15 min of time to build pressure before cooking time and about 10 for quick release of pressure and 30 for slow release afterwards so that significantly increases cooking times. That said slow cooking times for old slow cookers are blown away by pressure cooking and for me this is definitely worth that. You will need to still utilize other cooking methods along side this to get dinner on table all at same time and hot. So this doesn't replace other methods and it does not crisp like an air fryer. One thing I tried and didn't get right was acorn squash soup. Took 2 tries to get squash cooked was not super soft even after second time. so 15 to build 20 to cook 10 to release... 15 to build 10 more to cook and 10 to release we are up to and hour and 10 min then the product is mushy squash you have to scoop and then puree if you have a blender.. I had to transfer to a mixer whip and the put back in pot to heat by back up to serve. But a lot of this may be me not knowing best way. This pot has 3 recipes in tiny manual so you are on your own to learn. All that said I would do again. I am a leary as to if my daughter will take the time to learn the inis and oouts of it.

Great Pot; Instruction Booklet Not So Great

My rating should have been five stars on the pot itself, but I had to lower the rating because of the lack of actually user information in the manual. I have always used on-the-stove pressure cookers (in fact, have three) and decided that I would like an electric pressure cooker, especially when I found out that it had so many other uses than my other pressure cookers. I ordered the Insignia after doing much research and I am extremely pleased with it. I have used it every couple days, and sometimes twice a day, as I love the way my rice comes out. My only complaint with my purchase is the manual that came with it; it has all the safety warnings, but not much about actually using the pot. So, I found many recipes online and checked out a couple recipe books at the library. I then went to Amazon and bought many accessories that I felt I needed, especially the extra silicone gaskets. I’m even planning on making some Greek yogurt! Needless to say, I am very pleased with this pot and I love it!

I wait until I've had something a few months before I write a review. In this case, I've had this Insignia pot for four months. It's ok but not great and here's why: 1) as most reviewers noted, the instructions that come with it are just awful. You can try to use the competitor, InstantPot's, instructions but they aren't identical equipment. Trial and error is needed. I shouldn't have to create my own user manual! 2) it is relatively small inside for the overall size outside. It takes up a good deal of room in the cupboard or on a shelf! 3) the sear function doesn't evenly brown the meat - the pot has a slight crown to so any oil added before searing the meat flows outward around the outer ring of the pot. The middle of the roast doesn't brown as much. In summary, even at the heavily discounted price I purchased this for, I probably wouldn't buy it again. As the saying goes, "the view isn't worth the climb" on this one!

I had heard so much about electric pressure cookers in the weeks prior to Black Friday, that I really wanted to get one, but didn't want to spend $90 or even $70 on one! When I saw this one for $40 on BF I jumped on it(I even ordered one for my mom for Christmas!). At first, I was nervous, because Insignia is basically Best Buy's generic brand, but I have to say, this thing is made really well. It doesn't seem cheap at all. I've made rice, goulash, sausage and potatoes, and a ham in it and everything came out perfectly...in about half an hour. The rice was even flavorful and chewy, but not crunchy. The goulash noodles were perfect al dente. I'm especially excited that it has a quinoa function(compared to IP's porridge function...wtf is porridge haha). And the saute function heats up really fast! I have a feeling this will be replacing my slow cooker and I'm sure my mom is going to absolutely love it!

I purchased this electronic pressure cooker as it was on a great deal. I had no experience with any electronic pressure cookers before getting this. When I unpacked, I went to look for the instructions since I had never used one of these before. I was quite dismayed that the instruction book was very brief and basic. It does not explain any of the buttons or how to really use the pot. I looked at the Instant Pot website and found that this pot is basically the same as the Duo 6 Quart. So much so that the instructions for that pot are basically the same for this pot. So if you buy this, get that instruction book if you do not know how to use this. Other than that, I have used the pot six times and so far it has walked very well. I would have given it 4 stars if not for the lack of the manual.

For some odd reason I really wanted to make 15 bean soup. I found a recipe online, which an instant pot was used, so of course I had to buy one. I looked at many different brands and this one was rated pretty high and had mostly good comments. What pushed me over the edge to buy was that it was on sale at a great price! Well...it was well worth every penny and more! I loath cooking, but this makes it so easy I kind of enjoy it. My 15 bean soup didn't turn out the best. Not because of the cooker, but because of the cook. My second dish was over Thanksgiving holiday when my kids were back home. I made quartered chicken over rice. I got compliments from both kids saying it was so moist and tasty. I broiled the "fall off the bone" perfect chicken after pressure cooking to get a nice crisp skin on top. I was told I have to make this dish every time they come home! Now that is a huge compliment. Weird thing is, I look forward to making it again. Heck with the Insta Pot, get this one!

I saw this at a really good price and decided to go for it. Main gripe is the same as everyone else - the manual is inadequate. I tested the preset buttons today and am including those if they help. Most people cook on manual, but I still wanted to know what the presets were. So now I know. Have had this a couple of days and used it a few times. All good and exactly as I expected, and I can use any Instant Pot recipe in this successfully. As recommended, I did buy an extra interior pot and extra seals so as not to infuse savory odors into sweet products.

I’ve had this for close to a year now and love it. I even got coverage on it cause it was so cheap. I hesitated buying at first thinking do I really need it? But have made so many things in it. I got it on sale so it was totally worth it. Stews, rice, soups, meatloaf, even corned beef and cabbage. I had a stovetop pressure cooker but rarely used it cause it was kind of scary honestly with all the pressure building on the stove plus you had to stand over it constantly. Also, hard to figure out how long to cook stuff. I couldn’t believe when I set this electric model. Just press a button and walk away! I didn’t hear any noise from it either. Very convenient! I highly recommend it.

After hearing some friends rave about their Instant Pot, I saw this on a Best Buy Deal of the Day for less than 1/2 the price of the Instant Pot and bought it. At first, my wife was skeptical because she remembered all the hassle her mother had with her pressure cooker decades ago. Cooking with this thing is a breeze! We have been trying out recipes we found online and love the convenience of being able to cook a whole meal at once without having to heat up the whole kitchen with our oven. Cleanup is quick and easy. Some have complained about the lack of instructions, but if you look around online, there are lots of sites with helpful hints.

I purchased the Insignia 6qt pressure cooker to have a second one on hand for the holidays. I also have a 6qt Instant pot and wanted to purchase something that functions pretty much the same without the cost. It is so similar to the Instant pot that I was able to take it out of the box and use it immediately. Thus far it has performed just as well as the Instant pot. The Insignia 6 qt does not have a yogurt function like the Instant pot does if that is important for you to have. There is also not a lid rest. You have to remove your lid and lay it on the counter top. The Instant pot does have a lid rest that I do use a lot. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. If I happen to wear out one of the pressure cookers I think my next purchase would be the Insignia 8 quart.

This pressure cooker is new to me; I was afraid to use it. After watching a few videos on You Tube on how to use the pressure cooker; I was finally ready to use it and I realized it was very easy to use and cleaning is definitely easy. I use it to cook about three or four times a week. It is an excellent cooker and I have used it to cook, soups. beans, stews, rice, vegetables, casseroles and all my meats and all of the dishes turned out great. It is so convenient to use and it makes life easier. This is one of the best product I have ever had. The quality is great and I have never had a problem with it.The price was great and I recommend others to try it. You will have no regrets.

I’ve had my pressure cooker for over a month now. Still learning but my meals are improving. Made chicken and rice in 8 minutes. There is little to no instructions and when I contacted customer service to get more information their response was to read the manual. Of course that was the first thing I read which is very vague. Great appliance but poor service. Best advice is to join a FB group, they’re very helpful. This is missing some of the advantages of the instant pot brand but isn’t as expensive. Customer service is important to me and this is why I’m not recommending this product.

I purchased this to give it a try because I heard good things from friends about instant pot. After trying it, I was very pleased and then purchased the 3qt version of the instant pot for daily use. I find that I have to add 5 to 10 min to the recipies with this model. I believe it's due to the fact that this one has a non stick pot where instant pot is stainless steel. This one is easier to clean but instant pot cooks faster. That's the only real difference I see. It's a good buy if you don't mind adding a little extra cooking time.

I did a lot of searching before buying this model. I looked at the instant pot brand and couldn't stomach the price. I found this one and reviews looked great, so I gave it a try. I have had so much fun with this since I picked it up! I've made frozen chicken in 5mins! I made a whole chicken in 24mins. Misissippi roast in 60mins. Tonight I made chili in 5mins! So many recipes on pinterest. Highly recommend!! It's so big I don't really have an easy place to store it; but we've been using it every night so it stays on the counter!

We bought one of our selves, and bought 2 more for Christmas gifts and couldn't be happier with our choice, when it was a hot deal of the day for $50 each. This is a great deal even if it was full price. We even bought the steel cooking pot, it cleans up easily and cooks food evenly and in no time, we can literally cook a pot of chilly in about an hour for a large family. We are still figuring out some of the settings. For anyone that gets it is sure to please. It retains the moisture very well when you are cooking. If you are thinking about getting this, just do it.

What an amazing product. Cooks to perfection. The manual is useless except for basic information. I'm getting all of my recipes online and thank God for that. I would be lost without it. The manual does not tell you what the cooking present times are so I am going to reprogram those based off of the size of meats I usually cook.( Ex: a 3 pound beef roast needs about 70 minutes.) The manual does tell you how to reprogram those pre-set times. Once I have that done.....the sky is the limit!!!

Love it. 100% recommend. Quality is great, it could not be easier to use, and if I'm being completely honest, I cannot find a better looking cooker. I love cooking rice quinoa, or any of the endless online recipes - many of which are easy, quick, and somewhat healthy. If you're in the market for a pressure cooker (which ended up being a way more useful addition to my kitchen than expected - I was a doubter) then I think this one strikes a great balance between price, looks, quality, and features.

Thought I was getting an *out of this world* deal because when advertised it said the regular price was $99 and sale was $29. I got to the store and the price tag on the shelves was $49.99. I still decided to buy because it was still a $20 savings. My one complaint is the pressure cooker booklet should have had better directions. How long to cook certain lbs. of meat. It just had terms like normal. Normal for a family of 10 may be different from a family of two.
