I bought this to transfer files from one laptop to another. Opened the box, plugged it in to the USB ports, and used the software that is on the cable (yes, I said ON), and moved everything over. I do recommend this product.....very much.

I gave it 4 stars for probably being a good product for its intended use, however it did not work for my intended purposes. I would recommend it based on its intended use.

I was having problems moving all my data from my old computer to my new one, but after purchasing this cord, it was a breeze! I just plugged it in and was able to transfer everything over in a short amount of time. The length is great and I am happy with this purchase!

I bought a new computer and was telling the sales person how much I dreaded transferring all my information from the old computer to the new one. He suggested that I purchase a data transfer cable and honestly, I owe him because it made the whole process so much easier, especially when it came to moving all my photos! It was very easy to use, the software is contained within the cable, you plug each end of it into a USB port on each computer, it sets itself up and is really a cinch to use. The cable itself was not expensive so I would definitely recommend the purchase of one in conjunction with the purchase of a new computer.

Served it's purpose for Windows Easy Transfer. Fairly fast and pretty sturdy cable. Not sure I'll ever use it again though since this is the only reason I needed it.

Insignia USB transfer cable is well made, the length is perfect and it gives you the ability to move files from one PC to another with ease. I am very pleased with it and would buy another one if needed.

I bought a new laptop and had to transfer everything from my old laptop. I read some reviews and thought this cable would do the trick and it did. I had no trouble transferring all my files and almost all of my apps/programs. Any app/program that would not open & run properly, I just deleted and then re-downloaded it from the web to my laptop. It did take a while to transfer everything (several hours) but after I did, I have had no problems with using anything on my new laptop. I do pretty basic things with my laptop (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Quicken, Skype, etc.) so this cable worked for me.

We needed to copy files from an older Windows XP PC that was being replaced to a new Windows 8 PC. I found this cable very easy to use. Just plug it in and let it install the app from the USB cable on each PC. Both PCs file systems were shown side by side in the app window. Then using the app on the target PC, you simply drag and drop the file(s) you want to copy.

I purchased this by mistake. But I was intrigued so I plugged it in to see how it functioned. It was fascinating! Indeed, it's set up to recognize different computers and when in use, displays contents e.g. like an external hard drive and it appeared that you can just drag contents over. I did not need to transfer anything, and thus, I did not need this cable. So I went ahead and returned it. But, it seems like a cool little cable for its intended purpose.

OK, so I had an old Dell and an old Gateway (I know....a friggin GATEWAY!!). I bought the Lenovo Y70 to replace the Dell desktop and we had 40 GB of "stuff" on the Dell that had to be moved. Pictures, videos, etc, I plugged in the transfer cable and both machines popped up the window showing the remote & host PC. I just dragged and dropped all of the files from the Dell to the Lenovo.....it took less than a half hour. Videos take the longest. the picture files FLEW over to the new drive. Easy. Simple. In fact, this is so simple, my 75 year old MOM could do it. I recommend it. Anyone who says it doesn't work may have trouble doing things like brushing their teeth. This is as easy as it gets.

Have you ever tried using those Seagate or Western Digital mini hard disk drive that you have on your MacBook and connecting it to Windows 10 PC? I tried 2 of them & I thought for a moment they both died. W10 can’t even detect a hdd was plugged in. I learned later that Macs can read hdd intended for windows but not the other way around. This Insignia Transfer cable solves this problem & it automatically loads it’s own program to both machines. No need to download anything just plug and play. Now, you can transfer files, photos, documents etc between a PC & Mac and vice Versa. What a life saver!

Well built and suitable length. Fairly expensive though for why it is.

Cables are good quality and are extra long. Setting up in different offices all the time it is good to have the flexibility of a longer cord.

The data transfer cable worked great and had its own internal software. I needed to transfer data quickly from a damaged and dying laptop and it worked well under those circumstances

This product works very well. It quickly transfers even the biggest files quickly and the included software is very user-friendly.

My Bluetooth was not working with my printer so these USB cables solved the problem. The six foot length is perfect for my needs.

I just purchased a new laptop and bought the Insignia - 6' USB 2.0 Transfer Cable - Black to help move the files from the old computer to the new one. The software is built into the cable, so installation wasn't an issue but the software was a bit difficult to use. After some trial and error, I got the job done, Transfer speed was OK, didn't take all day. With a slight improvement in the software, it would get another star.
