My laptop is an older model and it does not have any USB-C ports. This cable was on sale and it solved the problem for me connecting my newer phone to my older laptop. I recommend getting one for yourself if your needs are the same (newer phone and older laptop).

Each end connected to the device I designated and transmitted the video signal from the laptop to the monitor. The cable was undamaged upon receipt and plugging it into each device was simple and straightforward. No directions necessary!

One thing to keep in mind is that this is a one-way cable. The USB-C side must connect to the device (laptop or something similar) and the HDMI must go to the monitor. It will NOT work the other way around.
