Shuts off while paused

I cant figure out why it shuts itself off while paused. Its seriously a pain very inconvenient. It has an option for screen saver but theres no point because it just shuts off. It has a sleep timer that can't be turned off and maybe thats the problem. My husband also has a small insignia fire tv in his truck and it does the same thing. Other then that the tv is fine. I understand its a cheap tv but how hard is it to have an option to pause tv without it shutting off. Sleep timer says off but it doesn't actually turn it off. I can only guess thats the reason it shuts off while paused.
